You should follow these very important and simple things to prevent stone formation & to get sure treatment of kidney stones: 1. First take a lot of fluid daily. The more you drink water and fluid, the less amount of deposit accumulate in kidney. So you have to make your kidneys healthy just only by drinking 2-3 liters (10-12 glasses) of water. 2. Stones are mainly formed of calcium and oxalate. So take very low quantity of milk, cheese, cream and dairy products. 3. Do not take strawberry, plum, spinach and tomatoes. These fruits and vegetables are rich in oxalate. So avoid them to prevent from kidney stones. 3. Stop taking supplementary vitamin d and calcium medication. 4. Avoid animal protein diet- eggs, red meat, fish in diet. 5. Take less amount of salt, pickle and western foods. They have high amount of sodium. So avoid it. 6. Urinary infection are also one of the cause of stone. So take proper antibiotic treatment of urinary infection on time. Even when you feelburning sensation or pain during urination, don't avoid it. Take medication as soon as possible. I hope you follow them in your life andstay healthy. 7. You can take gokshur tablets of himalaya for 3 months. It definitely get relief from kidney stones. 8. The next step would be to get a holter recording done. If he can make the fast heart beat come and go, it will be recorded and we can find a reason for it. Meanwhile, I would suggest you see a physician who will examine you and get some tests done. I can help you when you share the reports with me,

Hi. Many causes of hairfall ranging from hormonal problem, nutritional deficiency, local skin inflammation, any major illness in recent past, medications for any other illness, crash diet and many of the salon treatments like straightening etc. You need to be evaluated to find out cause of your hair fall and then treated accordingly. This approach would be very scientific and give better results than trying some vague treatments.

Pregnancy - First Trimester Guide

Pregnancy - First Trimester Guide

So you have just found out that you are pregnant and you and your partner are over the moon about it! While congratulations are in order, so are a host of tips, which will help you settle into the pregnancy. It is important to remember that the first trimester of your pregnancy is a crucial phase where you may not change that much physically, but will be prone to many emotional changes. It is also a phase where you will make way for the changes that will inevitably come in the next two trimesters and for a long time after delivery of the baby too. Read on to unravel our first trimester guide.

  1. Pregnancy Test: You must ensure that you know you are pregnant by monitoring your menstrual cycles closely so that even one missed period points at the possibility of pregnancy. This test can be a home based kit available at the chemists' or can even be conducted with a lab test based on a urine sample. Despite the results that you may get on a home pregnancy test, it is best to get a professional opinion as well.
  2. Finding the Right Doctor: In this phase of your pregnancy itself, it is imperative to home in on a gynaecologist who will put you ease. Take care to pick someone who may be recommended by family and friends. Have a talk with the doctor a few times to see how well he or she engages you as a patient and if you are suitably convinced with the sessions and appointments.
  3. Activity: While heavy activities may not be recommended by all doctors as the foetus needs to latch on, one can indulge in plenty of walks and a normal routine as well. Ensure that your pregnancy is a normal one and ask your doctor about any precautions that you may need to take with the progressing trimesters. Also, find ways to deal with any morning sickness with the help of the doctor.
  4. Supplements: In this crucial phase, ensure that your doctor gives you plenty of folic acid supplements that you must ingest on a regular basis. This will keep any risk of neural tube birth defects at bay.
  5. Other Medications: Find out more about over the counter drugs or any medication that you may have been taking as this may have to be stopped or adjusted for the pregnancy. The doctor should be able to guide you on this aspect too.

The other activities during the first trimester include taking pre natal appointments and choosing and interacting with your caregiver who will also be a support after you have had the baby.

This is not a big problem. It may be caused by many factors and may not always be abnormal. So no need to worry. However, some ayurveda herbs which are shaamak and vrishya, have the capability to stop involuntary emissions. Such emissions in excess may have (-) ve psychosomatic effects on health.

Living with Parkinson's Disease

MBBS, MD - Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Rheumatologist, Jaipur

Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease affects the part of the brain that controls muscle movement. The exact cause of this disease is not known, but there is a decrease in a chemical called dopamine in the brains of people with Parkinson's. There is no cure for Parkinson's, but it often progresses slowly and the signs can be managed.

Signs:
The 4 most common signs of Parkinson's are:

  •   tremors or shaking when at rest
  •   muscle stiffness
  •   slowed movement or problems starting a movement
  •   problems with balance and movement

As these signs worsen, you may also have trouble walking, talking, swallowing or doing simple tasks such as bathing or dressing. As the disease progresses, other signs such as pain, bowel or bladder problems and sleep problems may occur.

Care issues:
When you start to show signs of this disease, you should consult a neurologist for diagnosis and start medicines. Then you should consult a physiatrist or rehabilitation physician for making rehabilitation plan to prevent early onset of disability. Rehabilitation plan contains medicines, physical therapy or specific exercises, occupation-specific advises brace, etc.
The physical therapist can help you learn exercises that can help you with movements.
You may need to work with your neurologist or physiatrist to make adjustments in your medicines to keep your signs controlled. Over time, many people have side effects from the medicines used to treat Parkinson's disease. You may also need occupational therapy or speech therapy to deal with signs as the disease progresses. As your signs get worse, surgery may be an option to reduce tremors.

Things you can do to manage your signs:

When walking

  •   walk slowly with a straight posture and with your legs further apart.
  • Think about taking big steps to help keep your steps more normal.
  •   use a 4-prong cane or a walker if needed.
  •   if you become stuck or freeze in one place, rock gently from side to side or pretend to step over an object on the floor.
  •   place tape strips on the floor to guide you through your house.
  • Remove area rugs and furniture from your walking path.
  •   stand up from a chair or bed slowly to avoid feeling dizzy or lightheaded.

When using the bathroom
install grab bars on the walls beside toilets and inside showers and bathtubs to help you stand up.

  •   use a shower chair inside the shower.
  •   install an elevated toilet seat to make standing up easier after using the toilet.
  •   shave with an electric razor.

When dressing

  •   wear loafers or shoes with velcro.
  •   wear simple dresses or pants with elastic waistbands such as sweatpants.

When eating or drinking:

  •   use a cup with a large handle to make it easier to hold.
  •   use a bowl instead of a plate to limit spills and make it easier to scoop up food.
  • Work closely with your rehabilitation team to manage your signs of Parkinson's disease. Rehabilitation can significantly improve your quality of life.
