Mr. Lybrate user, for her knee pains, first we should know the cause, nature of origin. Is it sudden or gradual? if its sudden, then the diagnosis & t/t will be different. In the same way, if its gradual process, then we could assess it as r. Arthritis. In such cases, by the t/t she can get improvemnet gradually& more over, further expansion can be controlled. Frequent usage of pain killers will effect the body/gastro intestinal system in another way. So, try to take suugested prescription& follow the proper system of medicine. *for her weakness, once its better to get her checkup for blood sugar[fasting]& thyroid harmones levels. Try to suggest her to take rest, take proper nutritious food intake.

First of all apply ice do quadriceps and hamstring exercises. Local painrelieving gel application. If in 15 days no response you require to do xray of the knee and bld investigations. We have to check uric acid. Cartilage supplements can be started.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

My age is 23. Height 6 ft. Weight 76 kg. From 1 year I used to have numbness and tingling in whole body. Bone and muscle pain in whole body. High bp 150/100. Excessive hair growth. My testicle isze is reduced so much .they are now 2 cm each in length and thin like almonds. I too have abdominal pain .no gastric problem. And left half head pain from backside. .my neck xray shows C2 and C3 segmentation in complete. And vitamin b12 is 185 ng/ml. reference range is 180 to 900. Where is the problem. My tingling is increasing day by day. I feel very unusual due to tingling.

Perhaps your high blood pressure and hormonal imbalance and cervical vertebral incomplete segmentation are the problems. You need a proper treatment for some months/year to get rid of your complaints. Please maintain a normal blood pressure by doing morning walks/exercises/taking low fat diet/complete avoidance of non-veg items. Continue treatment.

Sure, you should try mckenzie back extension exercises, leg pain radiating from the back can be due to nerves in the back, but you will also require some special painkiller for nerve pain.

Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If no relief in 4_5 days, then inform again. Without control of diabetes no treatment will work.

After getting mri done, not much to contribute for btterment, don't go for operation. Back pain depends on lot of factors such as your profession, type of work, the way you sit, the way you sleep, the way you lift the things etc. Best way is take rest on flat (palang) bed with 2 inches thickness, don't bend & work or lift any thing from ground, rest should be complete except allowing youself to bath room& all the instruction which are advised by qualified doctor or physiotherapist. I am sure you will be much better, take some simple pain killers like dolo 650 mg three times daily on & off when you require them. Don' t forget todo some back extension exercises when you don't feelpain to prevent future episodes of pain.

Sir I recently answered a question with similar complain. Yours seems to be forward neck posture, or you carry your bag on the affected shoulder. Kindly visit a Physiotherapist , and get your self treated in single sitting. It's a very small problem as far as description is available.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. When on treatment for hypothyroidism, it is essential to control TSH very well. It should be maintained <3 mU/L for being free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism including swelling of face and legs & feet. Therefore, it is necessary for you to increase the dosage of thyroxine tablets to 12.5 mcg, then check TSH after 6 weeks. By then if TSH level reaches the desired number, then continue the same if not then dose may have to be increased by another 12.5 mcg and TSH should be checked again after 6 weeks. Thanks.

If degeneration of bones is a reason then you should start ayurvedic calcium suppliments +daily massage with hot oil twice a day within 15 days you get upto 30-35% relief. Panchakarma advise janu basti snehan swedan +pind swed.

Hi, I am suffering Frozen shoulder, cervical spondylosis, thoracic shoulder blade and lower back l5-s1 and sacroiliac problem. Numbness, pinching, radiating pain weakness in neck shoulders hands elbow to fingers. Lower back to hip to toes radiating pain numbness, some times vertigo feeling. Stiff neck. What are the tests to be done and x-ray to be taken. Medicines and treatment to taken. Exercise r physiotherapy to be taken. I eat lots of spicy food, no proper time maintaining. Sometime skip food, eat heavy food at night. No exercise, late night sleeping getting late in the morning. Daily going outside on bike for long distances to n rough roads. Some times pinching pain left r right side abdomen. And left testicles. Standing/sitting some times for long hours, looking up/down continuously for some time due to job requirements. Please guide what to change myself, what tests and treatment to be taken and which doctor to consult orthopedic r neurologist r ayurvedic massage to be taken. In the meantime kindly suggest some medicine and exercise to be taken. Up to now no medicines r treatment taken. When taking rest and having proper food pain and other problems are vanishing. Now only neck and thoracic pain is there due to poor posture sleeping r sitting and due to poor mattress. Some times I forget completely pain as it goes off and comes back all of the sudden.

Back pain may be due to strain, sprain, weather change etc. *Avoid bending forward while working on lap top or for any other work. *Don’t sit continuously working on laptop etc. Get up periodically and move around. *Restrict bike driving as far as possible. *Don’t carry laptop or any load on your shoulder. Carrying very light loads equally with both hands is better *Sit straight so that back bone gets proper support. A dining chair is better than a laid back sofa. *You can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good *Soft bed will not give proper support to your back bone. Hard bed with thin mattress and thin pillow is better. *Get yourself tested whether you have spondylitis problem. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. Take Calc fluor 200--once daily in the morning for 6 days.

Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days. For further guidance and treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.
