Hi lybrate-user, Yes, you can have chicken. No harm done. Chicken is a complete protein. You can have it once in a while. If you are overweight, avoid fried chicken. Otherwise, chicken won't harm you.

You have to wait for the missed period. If it misses by 7 days then only you can check for pregnancy, or 19-21 days of the sex if menses do not come by that time. Within 10 days there is no way to find out.

Why it's not safe to have sex in pregnancy in 1st 3 months? What are the consequences??

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
Why it's not safe to have sex in pregnancy in 1st 3 months? What are the consequences??
Yes. Although It is absolutely safe to have sex in the first trimester in a normal pregnancy. But under certain conditionsyou must prohibit from making sexual contact if your wife- • have a history or threat of miscarriage • have unexplained vaginal bleeding or spotting • have abdominal pain or cramps • have a history of cervical weakness • are pregnant with twins or multiple babies • have a low-lying placenta (placenta praevia) You may also be advised to avoid sex during pregnancy if you have genital herpes. If your wife catch genital herpes for the first time during pregnancy there's a small risk that it could affect the developing baby. You may have to use a condom if you suffers from any sexually transmitted diseases.

Irregular periods can be caused due to menstrual cycle disorders. They are very common and can be easily treated with medications. Every month the brain, ovaries & uterus follow a sequence of events to prepare the body for pregnancy. There are four major hormones which are at play here, the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), progesterone and estrogen. Menstrual cycle disorders occur from conditions that affect the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, ovaries, uterus, cervix, or vagina. You should also look out for other signs such as pregnancy, family history of irregular periods, Acne issues, hair on face or chest, gained weight recently, hot flashes, night sweats, frequent headaches, stress or taking any herbal medications. You should urgently see a doctor if you have been having irregular periods for more than three menstrual periods (either consecutively or over the course of a year). In physical exam, we will thoroughly check your reproductive organs and breast. Commonest test done are hemoglobin, iron studies, hormonal assays and ultrasound abdomen. Treatment is given depending upon the cause which can be found out after thorough examination by a Homoeopath, so visit your nearest Homoeopath today.

Fluid Retention - Did You Know It Is Bad For Your Health?

Fluid Retention - Did You Know It Is Bad For Your Health?

Fluid retention is a crushing problem faced by many across the world. The condition can be well understood by paying close attention to its name; the propensity of the human body to store water or fluids in general in the tissues leading to a swollen and bloated appearance can be referred to as 'fluid retention', edema or hydropsy. An observant person must have seen signs of fluid retention in people around. The condition usually surfaces in the form of swollen limbs that can result in soft depressed pits on the application of slightest pressure. Your arms, legs, feet and joints such as the ankles and wrists are more prone to the effects of edema.

The various ways in which fluid retention can be disastrous for your body have been laid down here:

1. Edema can impair your ease while walking. A person goes through so much of pain that walking becomes more of a challenge; limping comes naturally in such a situation. Thus, your gait can completely change under the effect of fluid retention.

2. Fluid retention in the joints can make your joints excessively stiff. It therefore prevents free movement, stretching or bending.

3. There can be alterations in the texture and health of your skin over the affected area. It may turn tender and may itch intermittently.

4. Skin ulcers are also a common phenomenon among patients of edema. Ulcers in the skin are hard to remedy and it is hence best to curb the possibility of their development.

5. Tissues that now have a higher content of fluids are larger in size and face friction between one another. This leads to scarring of tissues.

6. Improper blood circulation is a condition that comes along with edema. The blood vessels narrow down when tissues swell up. As a result, there is a sharp decrease in the amount of blood circulated throughout one's body.

7. Veins, arteries and joints lose their inherent elasticity in this case. Subsequently, expansion and contraction of joints may not take place involuntarily and may thus cause immense discomfort. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Skin Winter Care

People experience irritation and roughness of skin during winter which results in poor circulation and widened capillaries. And hence skin suffers. Choose a good oil based moisturiser to keep the skin soft and supple. People tend to drink less water during winters but it is important to hydrate skin from within. Herbal tea is also a great remedy to moisturise skin from within. Use good lip balm preferably with tea tree oil as it helps heal painful cracks. A healthy skin is a reflection of good inner health. Continue to eat healthy drink plenty of water and exercise regularly and use sunskin of spf 15 or more when stepping out to protect from sun even during winter.

C-Section Vs Normal Delivery - Which Is Better For You?

MBBS, MRSH
Gynaecologist, Delhi
C-Section Vs Normal Delivery - Which Is Better For You?

Many people across the world spend a considerable amount of time contemplating on which type of delivery is the most preferable. In earlier times, normal delivery was the only option but these days, there is an increase in the number of caesarean or C-sections. Today, 30% of children of children around the world have been born through the C-section. Since it is up to the woman to select which type of delivery she would prefer, it is imperative to comprehend the advantages as well as risks of both the options.

Advantages of vaginal delivery to the mother
From a psychological point of view, women who opt for normal delivery are believed to have a relatively positive birthing experience. Women who go through normal delivery often feel that it is empowering to be actively involved in the procedure of giving birth to their babies. Such mothers have a much shorter span of recovery time compared with those opting for C-sections. This procedure also lets the mother as well as the baby to come in contact with each other, which in turn speeds up the process of bonding.

Pros of normal delivery for the baby
It has been found that babies who are born via vaginal delivery are less prone to developing any kind of complications related to health. They can be fed, sooner and develop fewer allergies and respiratory issues. However, very few babies born through vaginal delivery can experience any injury while being born, though this is an extremely rare condition.

Benefits of Caesarean section for the mother
There are numerous women who opt for the C-section so that there is no need to go through extended hours of labour. Today, with the advancement in medical science, mothers are able to plan the birth of their child, and it allows more control over the birthing process along with more predictability. Women who go for a C-section do not suffer from any damage to the pelvic floor, which often leads to incontinence in the course of time.

Advantages of a C-section delivery for the child
In most cases, when there are twin babies, or a single baby is too large, opting for a C- section can prove to be the most viable option. Plus, if the mother is a carrier of certain diseases like HIV, then a C-section reduces the chances of passing it to the baby.

Thus, both the options have their own set of pros and cons, and it is best to speak with a qualified gynaecologist before deciding on anything.
