10/7/2017 I hit my knee on bed but after that I feel pain in my knee and my thigh are swelling but not knee. My pain is constant and it increase when I tried to climb on stairs. Now swelling is little less but pain is same. I want to know what is that problem and should I go to hospital.

Pain during climbing up, may be a mild tear in quadriceps or tractional apophysitis. First do a xray, if normal and pain persist then go for MRI. IN the meantime, use knee cap, avoid climbing up and knee bending, use hot cold alternative mild pressure compression and take pain killer with trypsin tablets (tab. Flexion-mr + tab. Chymoral-forte). Rest as much possible. Consult after few days with x-ray.

Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hello lybrate user, - there might be both muscle and lower back bone involvement, need to avoid heavy lifting works for few days - such heavy lifts may lead to muscle contraction - apply ksheerabala taila daily before bath - take yogaraja guggulu 2-0-2 this will avoid present pain. - heavy lifts, bending exercises need to stop for few days bcz it may lead to slip disc kind of issues. My muscles ache easily when I stretch them in cold. Eg: When I am in water my feet muscles or calf muscles ache and causes immense pain. Same thing happens on winter morning. Is it a normal thing?

Normally muscle pain in cold water is due to the physiological changes in the blood vessels and if it is happening recurrently it needs clinical correlation.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Right leg palm means sole of foot or something else? if it is in front region of sole, it could be metatarsalgia, 1st mtp joint involvement in gout or any inflammatory pain, it could be due to flat foot, pronated foot etc. If it is back in heel region, then it can be plantar fascitis. As you can see there are number of causes, I want to ask you which site are you talking about? also please send me clinical pictures if possible showing exact site of pain, any swelling etc. Also send me any investigations/treatment records if you have for these issues. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

I have shoulder pain in the interval of 15-20 days and its stays for the same day till I take rest and also I am unable to throw a ball or a stone with full thrust a normal person should be capable of. It happened when I was playing badminton. I smashed the shuttle eventually a sound was produced from my shoulder. Please advise.

Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days. For further guidance and treatment.

You can start all streching and strengthening exercises for your body its must be because of lack of exercises. And if it possible try to check vitamin d3 morning stiffness sometime happens both cases.

Several different factors can be attributed to low back pain. It could be tissue tightness, improper lifting form, too much weight or improper posture. To Relieve your back pain: Get into a good posture–have your head on top of your rib cage and rib cage on top of your pelvis. That usually will relieve some of it. Also, try squeezing your glutes, and stretching your hip flexor and hamstrings. If you have pain shooting into your glutes, shooting into one leg, or you feel numbness or tingling, these tips won’t help much

Check for vit d, uric acid, b12 levels take proper intake of water, nutrition, avoid too much climbing stairs - take contrast bath for atleast 10 days than start with simple exercises of back.- precautions avoid prolonged standing avoid jerky mov by wearing lumbar support, it will also help to maintain erect posture - avoid lifting weight you can consult privately to know back exercises protoll. Ic pain still persist after 10 days of contrast bath do call qualified physio for us and ift application, if possible ask for taping technique.

I am 72 years old male and I have pain on my heels (people say plasterfastic pain) and now added knee pain. Tried hot water and cold water therapy, not much success. Now applying ayurvedic oils like karpoorathy thailam etc. Doing few floor exercises like folding and releasing, knee lifting and lowering. Can you please suggest any better way of handling this pain.

OK avoid all things do physiotherapy treatment must for u then do calf stretching exercise and put a towel roll under knee and press for 10 second then release repeat 20 time twice a day

This is all because of poor posture for prolonged period of time, you need to do some hot fomentation, local application of any pain relieving gel after that, and some gentle stretches and strengthening exercises considering your age.
