My one month baby's eyes are watery and white durt is available. Is it symptom of cold. If so then what to do?

Pediatrician, Pune
It is due to blockage of nasolacrimal duct, massage at the side of nose gently from up to downwards every time you breast feed, the duct will open up and watering will reduce in due course of time.

Are there any long-term effects associated with taking ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) medications? If so, what are they and what medications are implicated? What exactly is a spine block injection? Will it work long-term for low back pain due to disc problems? What causes Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and what is the best method of treatment? Can iodine help this condition?

I have delivered a baby. I don't have enough milk to feed my baby as after one week of delivery my stiches got broken. Dr. Gave me strong antibiotics and because of antibiotics my milk got vanish. Please suggest me some medication or anything by which I could feed my baby and my milk back.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Antibiotics will not make milk vanish, perhaps it is your anxiety taking toll. Be confident observe colour of baby's urine and frequency, so also weight of the baby for some days, before coming to hasty conclusion. It is easy to start top feeds any time, but remember it is difficult sustain breast feeding with fear, anxiety. Child will lose some weight in first week or so, don't worry about that.

there is no painless vaccine at the movement in India unless someone has done stocks of such . data narrates a bit of lower efficacy in compression with non painless (DTwP) vaccine.

Doctor, I have a daughter. I have small breast so less milk. How does fill my breast?

M.B.S.(HOMEO), MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Visakhapatnam
Fatty tissue is what gives the breast its rounded shape and protects the internal structures from injury. The amount of fatty tissue and the size of the breast are not related to the ability to produce milk, so small breasted women are just as capable of adequate milk production as the more amply endowed. Some of the most copious milk producers that I have encountered – including mothers of twins – have had very small breasts. When you’re lactating, your breasts produce milk constantly, and it accumulates in the milk ducts between feedings. When your baby nurses, he will empty out most of the milk in the breast – usually about 75 – 80%. Breastfeeding moms can produce an equal amount of milk over a 24 hour period regardless of the size of their breasts, but women with large breasts may have more ‘storage capacity’ than those with smaller breasts. That means that that a large breast may store more milk in reserve between feedings – sometimes several times as much as a small breast. For example: If a large breast contains 6 oz, and the baby takes 4 oz from each side at a feeding (8 oz total), that leaves about 2 oz in each breast (4 oz total) in reserve for the next feeding – in addition to the milk produced while the baby nurses. Smaller breasts may contain 4 oz in on each side. If the baby takes 3 oz on each side (6 oz total) per feeding, that leaves about 1 oz in reserve in each breast (2 oz total) for the next feeding, in addition to milk produced while the baby nurses. Because of this individual ‘storage capacity’, women with smaller breasts may need to nurse more often, because their babies may take in less per milk per feeding. Women with larger breasts may deliver more milk during each feeding, so the baby doesn’t need to nurse as often in a 24 hour period – or the baby may only take one breast per feeding.

There is no problem. Let him hold your hand tightly but keep your hand loose. Just possible he would have fallen some time. He is learning to climb now. After some time he shall start walking on his own way. If you suspect some abnormalities, consult pediatrician in person.

Give him fibrous diet and increase water intake. If stool is hard to cause pain on passing, use glycerin suppositories once in 3-4 days for some time and train baby for toileting to make him sit on pot for some time may be twice in a day.

SIr ,for a three and half year child who does not have any skin problem, no specific soap is recommended. You could use any soft soap. Brands such as pigeon are very expensive and need not be used.

At 28 weeks i. E. Near completion of 7 months of gestation, fetus normal wt is about 1300 gm and at 25 weeks i. E. About start of 7 months wt is about 900 gm. If you are running in 1st week of 7th month, your expectrd baby is growing well. Get your self vaccinated against tetanuus as per advice of your doctor. All the best.

Your daughter needs to be evaluated by a pediatrcian and psychologist. Depending on that she will need physiotherapy and speech therapy. This will help her in attending a special school.

This is called somnambulism and you wake her up in walk and there is no medicine needed Medical Treatment for Sleepwalking. If sleepwalking is caused by underlying medical conditions, such as gastroesophageal reflux, obstructive sleep apnea, seizures, periodic leg movements, or restless legs syndrome, sleepwalking episodes should stop once the underlying medical condition is treated.

Drinking amount decreased to 2/3. It starts after baby recovered from ill because of injection. Baby was ill about 1 day after injection. Now my sister are worried her baby because it is decreasing weight. So we would like to ask that can we change other formula brand or getting advice from physicians?

Well you have not mentioned present weght now age. I don't think their is any reduced breast milk. Remember at three months child feeds fast sucks more to empty the breast. And you feel that breast milk is less. As child increases in age in months. He sucks fast and takes or demands breast at higher interval. A formula which holds good by me is. Breast feeding should at the consonance of the age of child in months. 4 months child to be fed after 3-4 hrs. For maximal 20 minutes.

The HC at birth grows at the rate of 2 cm per month in the first 3 months and 1 Cm per month in next 3 months and thereafter 0.5 Cm till one year and you have to monitor it and if if it is less you need to check up.
