I am 25 years old, I have yellow spots in my teeth. How to remove it? Please advise.
Hi , yellow spots on the gum level towards the tooth must be calculus. Calculus is formed due to accumulation of plaque. It cannot be removed by brushing. You need to visit a dentist to get ultrasonic scaling (cleaning) done for healthy gums and a beautiful smile. If the spots are on the tooth surface it might be stains. Please visit a dentist for an evaluation for a better diagnosis.

Usually, dental pain is because of infected pulp. And taking painkillers will not help much. If you need a permanent relief, you have to consult a dentist. Get your xray done and let him advice the necessary treatment. For the time being, you can take any drug having paracetamol 500 mg 2/3 times a day to manage pain. Remember, with medications pain will subside but it is not a permanent solution.

Protect Your Smile From Tooth Enamel Loss
What is Tooth Enamel?
The hard substance that covers your teeth is called tooth enamel. Considered the hardest substance in the human body, it protects your teeth and the delicate nerves within from discomfort so you can eat all the cold or hot foods you want.
Tooth Enamel Damage
Despite being the hardest substance in the body, it does have weaknesses. Sugary and acidic foods top the list of weaknesses and can cause permanent enamel loss. Soda, a favorite beverage in this country is the number one cause of tooth enamel decay.
It creates tiny pits in the surface of the teeth that give access to the nerves inside. Plaque and bacteria buildup is another cause of enamel erosion, causing damage over time. As the enamel shell wears down, the teeth and root become sensitive to temperature and are at risk for decay.
Not only can teeth become sensitive, enamel erosion leaves teeth feeling rough. They also become weak and may chip or break easily. A yellowish tint may be present due to the exposure of the dentin layer just beneath the enamel.
Keep in mind that stomach acid can also contribute to tooth enamel loss - vomiting or acid reflux bring up strong acids that damage teeth rather quickly.
How to Protect Tooth Enamel from Damage
There are several ways to protect your teeth from enamel loss or prevent further damage from taking place. Avoiding or limiting the food and drink that leads to the breakdown of tooth enamel is key to keep thing teeth healthy. Avoid things such as soda, fruit juice, citrus fruits and candy, and brush your teeth immediately afterward if you do consume these foods.
Daily oral hygiene is also important to prevent the buildup of bacteria and plaque that eats away at tooth enamel over time. Brush after each meal and use a toothpaste that contains fluoride to help strengthen the enamel of the tooth.
If you take medications the cause the condition known as dry mouth, be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep the mouth hydrated. Your saliva helps wash away damaging bacteria and if your body isn't producing enough, it could lead to enamel erosion.
If you're concerned about the enamel layer on your teeth, the best course of action is to make an appointment with your dentist. Don't wait for the pain of enamel loss to occur before you seek help. Your dentist will be able to recommend a plan to address any damage that's already taken place and help you avoid future problems.

Missing Teeth and Problems Associated With It

Missing Teeth and Problems Associated With It

A loss of tooth or teeth is one of the biggest dental problems that someone can face. The irony is that people consider loss of teeth to be very insignificant. But in reality loss of teeth can lead to not only cosmetic problems, but also functional problems and an unstable chewing mechanism.

Loss of teeth can lead to many problems. Some of them are:

  1. Supra eruption of opposing teeth
  2. Compromised efficiency of chewing
  3. Adjacent teeth might drift into the space created by missing teeth
  4. Food tend to accumulate between teeth, which have moved
  5. Food accumulation also leads to periodontal disease and caries
  6. A lopsided chewing pattern as there is loss of equilibrium in the mechanism of chewing
  7. The extracted area might reveal a loss of bone height
  8. Problems of the temporomandibular joints, like closed bite and TMJ osteoarthritis
  9. The existing functional teeth might lead to problems due to overload
  10. There are increased chances of cheek biting due to collapse of the cheek in the missing space, thus leading to functional and cosmetic problems
  11. The frequency of tongue biting and ulceration might increase in the area of missing teeth or tooth

When missing teeth are replaced, one can easily restore the healthy look of the teeth and also prevent any other dental problems which are due to the missing teeth.

While replacement of the missing teeth it is of utmost importance that the equilibrium is maintained with the distribution of the forces caused by chewing. Care is also taken that the cosmetic outlook is also maintained in the treatment.

Ideally the teeth when extracted or lost should be immediately replaced. This is because the replacement prevents the bone resorption or bone loss in the area and also retains the good bone. But a drawback is that such an immediate replacement might lead to limitation. Immediate treatment is usually done with the help of implants which easily fit in the sockets created by extraction. But even for this an analysis of the bone and gum health is necessary, thus leading to only a few instances for such replacements. Other alternative is that immediate removable dentures can be prepared and these can be replaced once the gums of the area have healed. The time period for this is usually 3 months. If these need to be fixed permanently then a waiting period of 3 months is mandatory for the settling and healing of the gums and bone of the area.

The 3 basic ways of fixing missing teeth are through implants, fixed bridgework (bridges and crowns) and dentures, which can be removed.

Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Pls visit any orthodontist for your problem. He will be the right person to give opinion in your case. Mild malalignment can be corrected by proper smile designing. But if you have gross problem lot of things need to be considered. Proper diagnostic xrays and models of your mouth needs to be made.

Hypersalivation also called ptyalism is excessive production of saliva. It has also been defined as increased amount of saliva in the mouth, which may also be caused by decreased clearance of saliva.Hypersalivation can contribute to drooling if there is an inability to keep the mouth closed or in difficulty in swallowing the excess saliva (dysphagia). Reasons for Hypersalivation are---------- 1.Gastroesophageal reflux disease, in such cases specifically called a water brash, and is characterized by a sour fluid or almost tasteless saliva in the mouth. 2.Excessive starch intake 3.Mouth ulcers. 4.Oral infections 5.Liver Problems 6.Medicines----certain medicines initiate salivation if you are presently on medicines for any problem. Treatment of your problem can be done by treating the underlioned factor causing salivation.

Oil pulling, a popular folk remedy can be useful for whiter teeth and as a flossing agent. Slosh your mouth with coconut, sunflower or sesame oil for 15 minutes and then spit it out. It lubricates the gums and provides that extra shine to your teeth.

Hi, the most common cause of bleeding gums is due to gum disease called gingivitis. I would advice you to get your teeth cleaned by a dentist as gingivitis is caused by deposition of plaque and calculus on teeth. Regards.
