Do toe and ankle exercises regularly, this will increase circulation. Continue using socks. Dip foot in hot water tub at times and exercise.

Hi I would want to know whether an orthopedic surgeon has diagnosed the condition or is it your presumption? Backache and radiation of pain to legs or lower limbs is often called by laymen to be sciatica or due to slipped disc, when there can be a variety of other causes for low back pain syndrome. It is best assessed by a spine or orthopedic surgeon by physical check and supportive xrays/MRI before labelling it as slipped disc which is one of the common causes where intervertebral disc between 2 vertebral bodies degenerates a and protrudes out to compress adjoining nerve, or nerve root, or into spinal canal on cord itself. This often heals by conservative measures if not severe, but fee cases require surgical excision, fusion of joint space and surgery on adjacent soft tissues, foramina of facet joints where nerve emerges impingement of nerve causes acute or chronic pain symptoms. So please consult for above diagnosis and advise, treatment as necessary for your father's condition. As of now, comfortable lying in bed, application of muscle relaxant creams, fomentations, oral anti inflammatory and muscle relaxant tablets are needed. Wearing of spinal brace, avoiding forward bending, twisting of spine are usual precautions advised. Best wishes.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Shoulder impingement is a serious condition leading to severe pain in the shoulder blades of a person. Such kind of shoulder pain may affect anybody anytime. It basically affects the area of your shoulder facing stress due to any sort of overhead action. An impactful pressure on the tendons of bones constituting your shoulder gives rise to this disorder. This syndrome can affect a person who paints, swims, lifts or plays tennis on a regular basis. Once caused, persistent rendering of similar activities can worsen the case. If you are suffering from shoulder impingement syndrome, treatment under an experienced medical practitioner is indeed necessary as otherwise, you may have to suffer from tendinitis or bursitis.

Take a keen look at the symptoms of shoulder impingement
1. Disabling pain in and around the shoulders
2. Under the effect of such excruciating pain, a person has restricted use of his or her arms and neck. He or she will face difficulties in reaching to a higher position above his or head. Aiming up behind your back will also be a challenge with the existence of this syndrome.

2. Stretching your arms above your head while holding your body in an erect posture can be of great help. This stretching exercise should be tried out in a warm shower for better results.
3. Other exercises under the supervision of a physiotherapist can come to your rescue as well. You should try to move your thumb up your back to recuperate from shoulder impingement.

Try few things for your back pain: - Apply Ice and Heat Heating pads and cold packs can comfort tender trunks. Most doctors recommend using ice for the first 48 hours after an injury -- particularly if there is swelling — and then switching to heat. You can use whichever you find comforting as long as your skin is protected. - Limit Bed Rest Studies show that people with short-term low-back pain who rest feel more pain and have a harder time with daily tasks than those who stay active. -Keep Exercising Activity is often the best medicine for back pain. Simple exercises like walking can be very helpful. But remember to move in moderation, Stay away from strenuous activities like gardening and avoid whatever motion caused the pain in the first place. -Maintain Good Posture most people have poor posture when going about their daily activities, putting unnecessary strain on their backs. -Strengthen Your Core Most people with chronic back pain would benefit from stronger abdominal muscles. If the abdominals are weak, other areas must pick up the slack. When we strengthen the abdominals, it often reduces the strain on the lower back. - Improve Flexibility Too much tension and tightness can cause back pain. By increasing flexibility you need to put an equal load throughout the body from the feet all the way up to the head. -Sleep the Right Way The amount of rest you get is important, and so is the position you get it in. Sleeping in a bad position or on a mattress without support can cause back pain. Back sleepers should put pillows under their knees. Side sleepers should place pillows between their knees to keep their spine in a neutral position. Stomach sleeping causes the neck and head to twist and can put undue stress on the back. -Use Relaxation Techniques Research shows that practices such as meditation, deep breathing and yoga, which help put the mind at rest, can do wonders for the back. -See a Specialist Developing an individualized exercise plan is essential to managing chronic back pain. Hello lybrate user, - as preventive measures you can follow few things like - maintaining position of back while sitting, traveling etc -careful while lifting heavy weight without back support - avoid some foods like potato, brinjal, peas, etc which are told to avoid in ayurveda - daily application if some medicated oils keeps our body strengthy. - for the present pain, apply mahanarayana taila and do hot fomentation for 15 min for 10 days. -if it is muscular pain then it will relieve by that time, if not go for x-ray to rule out bone or disc involvement thank you.

Cervical is neck and spondylitis is bone deformity. Symptoms are pain stiffness, swelling, unable to work, and muscle weakness n deficiency of calcium levels and vit d.

Left shoulder has frozen after a hit by running bus about 5 months back. Dr. Had prescribed kinetozyme & some others. But again got checked. Dr. Prescribed zencast tx 1/2 bd& coolpix dsr alongwith calcium &painkiller tabs. He has told for physiotherapy & exercises. Please suggest what type of physiotherapy &exercises will be more effective.

Hello, take X- ray of both knees and share the reports. Meanwhile start taking BC No. 19, 5 tabs thrice daily and five phos 6x, 5 tabs twice daily.
