Hi, I have sinus problem. How recovery is possible without any surgery. Every morning, I have running nose and that continues. What shoud I do? Thank u.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
First & foremost get a ct scan of the sinuses to find out which of the sinuses are involved. Secondly a nasal endoscopic examination is needed to know whether you have a deviated nasal septum or an enlarged inferior turbinates on account of which the sinus openings get blocked which in turn leads to sinusitis. A running nose could be because of an allergic reaction. An ent opinion is advised.

Hi, take homoeopathic medicine - causticum 200/ once a day daily and kali phos. 6x/ once at night. Management: regular exercising keeps you fit and healthy, so don't forget to do it. Practice pranayam regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. Not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. One can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises. These exercises are good for gaining and maintaining good health. Also, practice pelvic floor exercise or kegel exercise, consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. (to find out these muscles, try stop the urine while urinating and then leave the hold, but don't do kegel exercise while urinating).

How can I prevent the to much underarms sweating at home. Please give me solutions of this issue.

PGD IN ULTRAASONOGRAPHY, Non invasive cardiology course, MD - Medicine, MBBS
General Physician, Narnaul
Underarm excessive sweating, also called axillary hyperhidrosis is an uncontrollable, annoying, embarrassing, and isolating problem (to say the least). From the discomfort of sweat running down your sides, to the embarrassment of obvious sweat stains, to the fear of being "discovered, uncontrollable underarm sweating can feel like it's ruining your life. But there is good news: Safe treatments for excessive sweating are available, the treatments work, and you have a number of options to choose from--or combine. The first line-of-defense against excessive underarm sweating are antiperspirants. Antiperspirants are non-invasive, topical (applied on top of your skin), and available in a number of different strengths including "regular" over-the-counter products, "clinical strength" over-the-counter products, and perhaps even prescription antiperspirants. Most physicians recommend that you start with the mildest formulations ("regular" over-the-counter products) and if they don't give enough symptom relief, work your way up to the stronger clinical strength formulations and then, perhaps prescription antiperspirants. The recent advent of clinical strength antiperspirants such as Certain Dri and Secret Clinical have been shown to provide the same level of sweat management as prescription products, but with much less irritation. We are glad to see these new, and greatly improved, formulations on the drugstore shelves and easily available to everyone. How you use antiperspirants is also incredibly important. Check out our information available about this, but the most important take-aways are: 1. Apply antiperspirants at night before bed and 2. Apply to totally dry skin to avoid irritation. A wonderful addition to the wardrobe of anyone with underarm sweating (excessive or not!) are absorbent undershirts, absorbent tee shirts, absorbent dress shirts, and absorbent underarm pads. You can nab a sweet coupon for them in our Fan Faves page. Another new and innovative addition to our treatment options, miraDry, is a completely different type of approach to eliminating axillary hyperhidrosis (underarm excessive sweating) and was cleared by the US FDA in January 2011. This is the first novel treatment option approved by the US governing body in nearly 7 years! As of April 2012, clinical data from two study sites affiliated with the University of British Columbia showed miraDry successful in reducing underarm sweat in over 90% of patients through the final study visit that was 12 months after treatment. The average sweat reduction was 82%. And, patients rated their satisfaction with the treatment at 90%. MiraDry has been developed by Miramar Labs of Sunnyvale, California. While miraDry is promising news for those who suffer with underarm sweating, it cannot be used to treat excessive sweating in any other area--yet. (we have high hopes!) Read the research findings, and understand the procedure for miraDry here. If antiperspirants don't give you the relief you need and miraDry is not in your budget, your next option may be Botox (also known as onabotulinumtoxinA). An experienced medical professional can inject Botox into your underarms to dramatically reduce sweating. In one clinical study involving 322 patients with severe underarm sweating, 81% of the patients receiving injections achieved more than 50% reduction in sweating. And, 50% of the patients had their excessive sweating relieved for at least 201 days (nearly 7 months). Some, for over a year! The use of miraDry and Botox for the treatment of hyperhidrosis is most effective when performed by a physician who has received special training and who has experience with the procedure. To find a physician in your area who is familiar with hyperhidrosis treatments, use our Physician Finder and search for those who have the notation 'IHHS-Educated' While nearly all people find that antiperspirants, Botox injections, miraDry or a combination of these hyperhidrosis treatments are enough to manage even the most severe case of excessive sweating in the underarms, there are those who seek a surgical approach to treat their axillary hyperhidrosis. Underarm surgery techniques include: excision, curettage, liposuction, and laser. During excision, sweat glands may be cut out. Similarly, during curettage they may be scraped out. During liposuction they may be removed by suction. Using lasers, tissue containing sweat glands is liquefied. Combinations of curettage and central excision, or of curettage and liposuction may be used, as well as combinations of liposuction and laser treatments. Dermatologists often have good results with these techniques. Each of these procedures can be done under local anesthesia (meaning that the patient is not completely "out") and in an office setting (as opposed to in a hospital setting). To learn more about these local surgical options for axillary (underarm) hyperhidrosis, click here. Please note that in most cases we do not recommend endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS) for excessive underarm sweating. While ETS is perhaps the most commonly discussed, (as well as criticized) surgery for hyperhidrosis, there are other, far less risky, and far more predictable, options for people who suffer from excessive sweating of the underarms. We hope that you'll find the information on this site helpful as you search for the best way to manage your underarm sweating problem. For updates about new research, the latest treatments, free treatment clinics, and daily management tips, be sure to sign-up to our News Blog. We also have an extensive library of hyperhidrosis articles from peer-reviewed medical journals, so you can see where we get our facts and can share reliable medical data with your healthcare provider.

Why do people with diabetes suffer hypoglycemia when intake is a bit delayed from the routine regular time?

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine)
Endocrinologist, Delhi
Why do people with diabetes suffer hypoglycemia when intake is a bit delayed from the routine regular time?
Patients with Diabetes are taking medicines for lowering their blood sugar - these medicines have preset time of action- they don't start working when they eat food but they start working when they take medicine. Hence, the action of taking food and medicine has to be synchronised by the patient by his intelligence and guidance. otherwise, the medicine will cause hypoglycaemia.

The treatment for cutaneous LE is first to improve the Immune System of the body and get rid from the symptoms. If the patient is taking Nicotine in any form, stop immediately and encourage them to avoid smoking If it is due to the medications – drug induced – stop that medicine. Sun protection is very important, use sun screen to face neck and arms before going to sun. Sun screen More than 35 SPF is good to protect. Use the cloths that covers the body so that it protects from sun rays. Stop tea coffee, have well balanced diet lots of vegetables and fruits and soup in diet, have desi cow indian breed milk and ghee in diet to boost your immune, also panchkarma treatment is advisable for more can connect via Lybrate.

The chances are less. The incubation period is seven to 21 (usually 10 to 21) days after exposure to the herpes varicella-zoster virus to the development of the symptoms. The disease is most contagious a day or two before the rash appears and until the rash is completely dry and scabbed over, about five to six days after onset of the rash.

How to Treat Corns on the Skin

Diploma in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy - , MBBS
Dermatologist, Hyderabad
How to Treat Corns on the Skin

Corns are small circular patches of thick, hardened skin that generally develop on the toes or soles of feet. They may occur anywhere else on the body. They might be caused due to friction and pressure which may occur, if you wear poorly fitted shoes or as a symptom of some other conditions such as bunions (big toe bent towards other toes) or hammer toe (toe bent at the middle joint).

Corns, especially on feet will not get cured unless its root cause is treated. If left untreated, the skin becomes thicker and more painful. Cures for corns will depend on the cause or nature of the corn. Here are some effective ways to treat most types of corns.

1. Removal of hard skin: A dermatologist can help remove the thickened skin with a scalpel, which will relieve the pressure on the affected tissue.

2. Products that treat corns: Some foot care products are specially designed to allow your skin heal and to redistribute the excess pressure that is causing the corn. These may be prescribed by your dermatologist for quick healing of your corns. Some of these products include:
a. Rehydration creams that soften thickened skin
b. Soft padding or foam insoles that can be inserted into shoes
c. Corn plasters that provide protection
d. Small foam wedges which can be placed between toes to cure soft corns
e. Special silicone wedges that change the position of your toes and help in redistribution of pressure.

3. Salicylic acid: Salicyclic acid, contained in several over-the-counter products is helpful in softening the first layer of dead skin, thereby facilitating its removal. Products containing salicylic acid should not be used if you suffer from conditions that cause circulation problems, such as diabetes, peripheral neuropathy or arterial disease. If you have cracked or broken skin in the area of the corn or sensitive skin, salicyclic acid is not suitable for you either.

You can prevent corns by practising proper foot care, as your feet carry the weight of the entire body and are very susceptible to problems. Using a pumice stone regularly to rub away hard, dead skin is a good way to prevent corns and bacteria. Wearing properly fitted shoes is a must to prevent corns. If you wear heels very often, they may put excessive pressure on your feet. If you suffer from diabetes or other diseases causing circulation problems, do consult a doctor as corns and infections in the feet can lead to more severe infections.
