What are your problems. Mention them clearly. As pcod cannot be cured it's an abnormality of ovaries. Rather it's symptoms can be cured after adopting healthy lifestyle.

I am not interested in having children. What alternatives to hysterectomy are available?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS

I am not interested in having children. What alternatives to hysterectomy are available?
That's a serious decision at this age. And hysterectomy just to avoid pregnancy is far too severe a solution. If you can afford ₹ 5000, best is a Mirena intrauterine device. It will give good contraceptive benefit and other positive health effects for the next 5 years. Effects are reversible on removal at any time. Copper T will cost lesser than ₹ 1000 but last 3 years, with mild side effects. After 5 years if you are still convinced not to conceive at all, go for laparoscopic Fallope ring application. This will block the tubes and cause permanent (but not absolute) sterilisation without loss of hormonal health. That's all.

Infertility: How Best to Treat It?

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gyneacology), FNB Reproductive Medicine
Gynaecologist, Hyderabad
Infertility: How Best to Treat It?

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after 12 months of unprotected intercourse. For women aged 35 and older, inability to conceive after 6 months is generally considered infertility. Repeated pregnancy loss (2 or more spontaneous pregnancy losses) can also be considered infertility. Recent estimates indicate infertility affects 10-15 percent of the population in their childbearing years.

If you experience recurrent pregnancy loss, or if you have not been able to become pregnant within a year (six months if the woman’s age is over 35, 2-3 months if over 40), then you may benefit from assessment and treatment by a reproductive endocrinologist - a doctor with a special interest, training and expertise in the area of infertility. It’s a state that results in the abnormal functioning of the male or female reproductive system.

The causes for infertility could be:

  1. Male factor - erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory dysfunction, problems with quality, count and quantity of semen

  2. Female factor - tubal factor, ovulatory problems, abnormality of uterus, hormonal imbalance

  3. Antisperm antibodies

The prime symptom is very obvious i.e. unable to have baby despite of having sex without any contraceptives.

Factors affecting fertility:

  1. Age: Female fertility gradually declines in the 30s, particularly after age 35. Each month that she tries, a healthy, fertile 30-year-old woman has a 20% chance of getting pregnant.

  2. Smoking: It increases risk of getting infertile and reduces the chances of treatment.

  3. Alcohol: Consumption of alcohol is said to lower the sperm count in men.

  4. Obesity: An overweight person has a higher chances of having sperm abnormality.

  5. Workout: Less or very heavy work out is said to increase the chances of infertility.

  6. Mental Stress: Studies suggests that ovulation and sperm production may be affected by mental stress. If at least one partner is stressed it is possible that the frequency of sexual intercourse is less, resulting in a lower chance of conception.

  7. Sexually Transmitted Infections can also adversely affect the fertility of a person.

When to take further advice and course of action?

In case the women trying to conceive is less than 35 years of age, then 12 months and if more than 35 years, then in 6 months itself one needs to get in touch with the Specialist/Reproductive Endocrinologist/Gynaecologist or a Urologist for a complete diagnosis.

Many cases of apparent infertility are treatable. Infertility may have a single cause in one of the partners, or it could be the result of a combination of factors in both men and women.

There are many treatments available that improve the chances of having a baby. Such treatments include:

  1. Hormones Treatment

  2. Drugs for fertility

  3. Surgery in some cases

Also one the oldest form of medications such as Ayurveda as well as Homeopathy is said to have a wonderful treatment of Infertility. With the developments in medical sciences, there are lot of treatments available; however, such treatments sometimes become the victim of their own success causing multiple births – Two, Three or may be more.

Some Assisted Treatments are:

  1. Intrauterine insemination

  2. In Vitro Fertilization

  3. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection

  4. Donation of Sperm or Egg

  5. Assisted Hatching

  6. Electric or Vibratory Stimulation to achieve ejaculation

  7. Surgical Sperm Aspiration

It is important to understand the complete treatment before going ahead and be aware of the possible outcomes and be psychologically ready.

Please do not keep it to yourself and consult an expert. Never go for self medication!

I am in 8 month pregnancy sometimes a white water comes from my vagina. So there is some danger or its normal please ...
I WOULD SUGGEST AVOID SEX WHITE WATER Increased vaginal discharge is a normal part of pregnancy, but it's important to keep an eye on it and tell your doctor or midwife if you think it smells or looks unusual, or if you have pain, itching or soreness in the vaginal area. You may have an infection such as thrush, which can be easily treated by your GP.

Health Benefits Of Ghee

Health Benefits Of Ghee

Health benefits of ghee

Energy booster: the wide range of fats that compose ghee include medium-chain fatty acids, which are very useful for the body and can be processed by the liver and burnt as energy, not passing into adipose tissue or contributing to weight gain. For athletes or other people with active, high-energy lifestyles, ghee can provide the necessary burst of energy that you might need to get through a particularly challenging day!

Allergy issues: since ghee is dairy-free (having had all of the dairy residue simmered off), lactose intolerant individuals or those who cannot consume butter are free to enjoy the flavorful treat of “butter” in the form of ghee without worrying about the gastrointestinal problems that normally follow.

Heart health: although most people associate butter with fat and a decline in heart health, the rich variety of fats in ghee can also provide a healthy boost to the heart. Omega-3 fatty acids can help decrease your levels of unhealthy cholesterol and provide an energetic balance to your fat intake.

Reduce inflammation: ghee possesses butyric acid, which is one of the most beneficial short-chain fatty acids that the body needs. Butyric acid has been shown, in recent research, to actually decrease inflammation in parts of the body, particularly in the gastrointestinal tract, and is now a recommended dietary addition for some people with ulcerative colitis. Furthermore, ghee enemas have long been used in traditional medicine for inflammation of all kinds.

Antioxidant activity: the health benefits of vitamin a are widely publicized and the power of carotenoids in terms of eliminating free radicals in the body are extremely valuable. When you add the antioxidant capacity of conjugated linoleic acid and butyric acid to the power of vitamin a contained in ghee, you have a powerful anti-cancer substance that could help reduce oxidative stress throughout the body.

Eye health: the significant levels of vitamin a in ghee make it ideal for protecting eye health. Carotenoids are antioxidants that specialize in eliminating and neutralizing the free radicals that attack the macular cells, thereby preventing macular degeneration and the development of cataracts.

Immune system booster: butyric acid, perhaps the most important element in ghee, has also been linked to the stimulation of t-cell production, which are the heavy-hitting cells of the immune system. In other words, ghee can supercharge your immune system in addition to all of its other health benefits!

A final word of warning: all of the benefits mentioned above make ghee sound like an ideal substitute for butter; however, as mentioned a number of times, ghee is made purely of fat, so excessive consumption of ghee can dramatically change your fat intake and can act as a negative dietary choice. Be careful about your intake and study the fat content of the ghee you choose to consume. Also, speak to your medical professional to ensure that your fitness level can handle a shift to a higher fat diet.

Sir / Maam I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend on 27th August. After 6 hours she took ipill (ecp) .After 4 days I.e On 1st September she started bleeding and she bleed for 4 days. Then after 21 days of Intercourse, we did 4 home urine pregnancy test which were on 18 September, 25th September ,2 October and on 9th October. All the test came NEGATIVE. We even did bHCG test on 18th October. The result was <1.2 miU/ml. On 23rd October she started bleeding which continued till 29th October. My question is that can we rule out pregnancy now? She had stomach pain today. Can it be related to pregnancy?

MBBS
Oncologist, Bangalore
Hi, As menstruation occurred after 4 days of taking i-pill, there was no necessity to go for urine pregnancy tests, bHCG test. Menstruation stops only if there is fertilization of ovum with sperm. She has already bleed two times since you both had unprotected sex. It means that you can rule out pregnancy without any doubt. Stomach pain is may be due to some other reason but definitely not due to pregnancy. Hope this helps. Regards

U can have sexual intercourse as many times as you wish. If your healthy and fit. It depends upon once own interest and individuality duration: to prevent early ejaculation. Please follow stop and proceed method. That is during the time of intercourse when you are about to ejaculate stop for few minutes and start the action again after few minutes. So that there will be improvement in the duration of the act. 2) mastrubating before 1 hour when your about to participate in the intercourse. 3) spend the time with partner. By involving in the action of foreplay. Kissing, hugging, cuddling, touching her private parts. Fingering and more. Make sure not to involve in the act direcltly. Risk of pregnancy: for a normal women menstrual cycle is usually occurs for every 28 days. Danger period is: 11th day -18th day of menstrual cycle. As it is considered as ovulatory phase. Chances of pregnancy is very high. During this period. So better to avoid sex during this period safe period is: usually 19th day of menstrual cycle to next menstrual cycle. Safe period which is luteal phase. Wherin you can participate in sex during this time. If you want to have sex during danger period better to use condom to prevent pregnancy. Third method: emitting the semen outside the vagina. By pulling the penis outside the vagina during the time of ejaculation diet for better sex avocados banana blue berries nuts dry fruits watermelon carrot foods rich in vitamin c that is oranges and lemon honey. Boiled egg raspberries. Ginger and garlic drumstick and more. Finally its safe to use condoms. And its good. To prevent std. Hiv and safe for prevention of pregnancy.
