Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily .Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. .Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana ? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Why not discuss with me in a video conference? Hello lybrate user, it is possible that you might have sustained a soft tissue injury in your knee joint which was missed at the time of trauma when only bony injuries were investigated for. If you still have regular pains then I would suggest you get an mri done for the same. You could also consult an orthopaedic surgeon for a detailed clinical evaluation. You might also need to undergo arthroscopic examination of the knee joint if one is not able to reach a diagnosis with an mri. Hope this helps.

According your age x-ray mri must. Remedy is that avoid long sitting and toward bending lifting heavyweight. Sit straight maintain your posture do spine stretching exercise like yoga. Tk heat fermentation in pain condition and rest morning stiffness due to overstrain of muscle.

Dear, if you tired very fast and feeling weakness. Then you will definitely recover from weakness by following these very useful tips. * you should take proper balanced diet first. That means you have to take vegetables, milk, chapattis or rice, butter / cream, cereals (daals) or cheese every day. Very important thing, do not miss or skip your meals at any cost and take meals on time. * proper 6-8 hours sleep is very important. If your sleep is less than 6 hours, then you feel tired very early. So complete your sleep. * do breathing execises daily in morning & evening. Just sit down in peaceful place, close your eyes, take deep and long breaths in and out. Do it atleast for 10-15 minutes daily. You can also do pranayams like anulom vilom for better results. *take a walk, in first walk normally for 10-15 minutes for 15 days. You can do it on treadmill also. * you can take ashvagandha churn of baidyanath 1 teaspoon with milk daily for 2 months atleast to get your strength back. * check out your haemoglobin level in 3 months, if it is low you get tired early. So get treatment of low haemoglobin (anemia). If you have any disease like asthma /diabetes / hypertension, then get complete treatment of them. * avoid all fast foods and habit of smoking or drinking. You surely get great strength and recover from weakness by following these important things.

Dear anis, ointments or tablets will not reduce pain permanantly. I suggesr you to go for ultrasonic therapy to reduce pain faster. And do back strengthening excercises like lying flat on back. Raising leg 10 times sliding legs in straight position. You see the difference in a week.

If there is no weakness or loss of sensation in legs, no involvement of bowel or bladder, then the injury is likely to be of less significance and should settle in a few weeks time by rest and appropriate medicines. Patient should also be checked by DEXA scan for bone strength, and if bone density is weak, then treatment to strengthen bones should also be started.

Hello lybrate-user. Do contrast bath regularly for 10 days and twice daily. I. E take hot water in one bucket and cold water in another bucket, then dip you legs first in hot water for 3 minutes and then immediately in cold water for 1 minutes and repeat this proced. Ure for five minutes. This will increases your blood circulation and removes all waste products and then do calf muscle stretching.

Joint Pain - How Ayurveda Can Help You Treat it?

For a disease that affects almost eighty percent of people over 50 years of age, not much is known about curing joint pains. Allopathic medicine remains almost clueless about a complete cure for joint pains which occur due to various reasons like heredity and lifestyle. It treats the pain with pain killers, inflammation reducers and other such drugs which do not heal the joint completely and lead to other problems too.

Ayurveda and Joint Pain
Ayurveda has its own unique perspective on joint problems. According to it, these occur due to:

  • Poorly-nourished joints
  • Low bone density and overall weakness in joints

The main symptom of poorly nourished joints is discomfort followed by a crackling sound. In this, the bone making up the joint can degenerate due to lack of proper nutrition. Low bone density joints usually occur due to a toxic overload in the joints called ‘ama’ in Ayurveda. Ama is the sticky, toxic waste product of incomplete digestion and this accumulates in joints making them stiff and heavy. Ama accumulation for long can make a joint swollen and painful. Damp, cold weather can aggravate this type of joint problem. If ‘vata’ the Ayurvedic dosha associated with movements and proper functioning of metabolism and assimilation is aggravated, it can cause joint pain too.

The imbalance in Vyana Vata, a special form of vata associated with bone damage along with weakened circulation, metabolism and absorption creates an imbalance in ‘kapha’ the other major dosha in the body, according to Ayurveda. ‘Shleshaka’ Kapha, the sub-dosha of Kapha that controls lubrication of joints dries up. This makes the un-lubricated joints very vulnerable and one starts getting pain.

Ayurvedic treatment
The first line of treatment for joint pains is pacifying the Vata dosha through food and lifestyle modifications like:

  • Include all six tastes -sweet, sour, salty, bitter, astringent, and pungent- in the diet. However, sweet, sour and salty tastes are very good to pacify Vata dosha.
  • Eat less of bitter, astringent and pungent foods.
  • Eat more grains like quinoa, rye and amaranth, cooked in ghee.
  • Freshly-cooked organic vegetables and warm liquid soups are best.
  • Eat a diet rich in calcium- milk, spinach, kale, asparagus, and root vegetables.
  • A Vata pacifying daily routine like eating before 8 pm in the night and keeping dinner light and sleeping early are also advised.

If possible get a daily Ayurvedic oil massage ‘abhyanga’ with special medicated oils to prevent joint problems. Regular habits help settle Vata. So, it’s suggested that one goes to bed at the same time each day, gets up at the same time and follows a regular routine for pacifying Vata. Getting stress under control though meditation and pranayama also does wonders.

Hello lybrate user, back pain radiating along a leg may be due to prolapsed intervertebral disc or commonly referred to as slipped- disc. You should avoid lifting weights, bending forwards and take bed rest for 2 days if the pain is severe. A consultation may help if you are having tingling, numbness, or weakness in the lower limb/ the leg. Thank you.

For past 4-5 months I have been feeling little pain in my hand fingers’ joints. Additionally, I have severe pain in right toe near little finger, but this pain is only on pressing the Toe or on long walking.
