I am suffering from phobia of sex with my gf. Is it ok to have it with her in a age of 22. What are the draw backs?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
No doubt that sex is interesting and wonderful, when done with the right person and at right age; but until then, it is necessary to keep our desires in check---------so it is not love but only sex in your heart but aman your time is to concentrate on future and make a carrier and sexual activities diverts attention and lead us nowhere----------it is an addiction just like alcohol or smoking and do not let this addiction engulf you and ruin your future----------you have got full life for such activities but only few years to give direction to your carrier-----so choice is yours--

Hello, In a female with a normal menstrual cycle of 28days, the ovulation would take place on 14th day of the cycle. So, 3-4 days before and after this 14th day is supposed to be the period (mid-cycle) when the chances of getting pregnant are high! And rest of the days are safe when the chances of getting pregnant are less or remote. What is the normal menstrual cycle in her case? And is this happening for the first time? So, get her pregnancy test done. Ideal time for pregnancy test to be done is 1 week after the expected date of next date of menses. Share the report with me for proper guidance.

The Dangers of Smoking and Drinking During Pregnancy

The Dangers of Smoking and Drinking During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time when you have to be at your vigilant best even as you go about your normal life. If you happen to be a smoker and enjoy a drink once in a while, then it may be time to change these habits. Ideally, one should let go of these habits as soon as the couple starts trying for a baby, as how you treat your body in the preconception stage will have a great bearing on how your body adjusts to pregnancy and the aftermath of childbirth. Let us find out the dangers of smoking and drinking during pregnancy. (Learn more about healthy pregnancy)

  1. Alcohol and Your Baby: While you may be thinking that a drink or two of wine in a week may not do any harm to your foetus, this is actually a misnomer. One should steer clear of even a sip as the alcohol usually ends up passing through you placenta and right into your growing foetus.
  2. Alcohol Break Down: When the alcohol gets passed through your system and into the baby, there is a definite health hazard to the foetus. This is due to the fact that the body tends to break down alcohol in a much slower manner, than it would break down any other food or beverage. And the risk is that much more heightened in case of the growing foetus, because the tiny bodies are not equipped to handle the breaking down process properly. This may lead to a rise of the blood alcohol level of the foetus, keeping it at that level even after the mother's blood alcohol level has been restored to normal.
  3. Retardation and Other Related Ailments: When the blood alcohol level of the baby remains high, it can lead to a variety of problems that can go from mild to severe. Retardation, heart ailments and more can be born from this issue. Also, this can lead to deformed facial features as well as behavioural problems like aggression.
  4. Smoking and Low Birth Weight: When you smoke during your pregnancy, it doubles your risk of birthing a baby whose weight is significantly lower than the acceptable standard and what is considered normal (learn more about the affect of smoking on your and your baby's health)
  5. Smoking and Other Complications: Also, smoking during pregnancy increases the chances of having an ectopic pregnancy, which can lead to the loss of the foetus. Further, you can also end up having a premature baby, if you smoke during pregnancy, as this will lead to the burst of your water before the actual labour begins. Finally, smoking during pregnancy can give rise to complications in the placenta, which will result in a separation of the placenta from the uterine wall, much before the delivery actually happens.

I have white discharge on my underwear and my period is late. I have had sex recently and it was safe. Is this normal?

BHMS, MD - Homeopathy, m.s counselling and psycotherapy

Firstly if its not excessive then its absolutely safe and normal, if you experience any discomfort or itching, burning sen or any foul smell from your discharge then there may be some underlying reasons, for that underlying reasons you should get it checked with a gynac. And having sex is absolutely safe.

“Panchkarma has been found to be very effective in insomnia, joint pains, gout, diabetes, anxiety, migraine, sinusitis and gastro-intestinal ailments,” . Today's most common problems like slip disc, arthritis, joint pains and anxiety are a result of stressful living.
Interestingly, it is allopathic doctors themselves who are recommending panchkarma to majority of these patients. “The primary cause of all these problems is anxiety and it is through meditation, yoga and panchkarma that enables you to work without getting stressed

Your developing baby is protected by the amniotic fluid in your uterus, as well as the strong muscles of the uterus itself. Sexual activity won't affect your baby. So it is completely safe to sex during pregnancy. But during first trimester sometimes there is risk of miscarriage because of intercourse and excessive body movement so try to avoid sex during first trimester.

Hi lybrate-user, consult a gynaecologist for complete check up. The pills should not in any way hamper conception. It is a safe way to abort an unwanted pregnancy. All the best.
