I am a 22 year old female. I do not know exactly if I have depression or anxiety problem? But I really feel depressed when I am alone. That is I do not show my "feeling low" to anyone. I do everything with them. But somewhere behind my mind I know I am not able to be what I want to. I feel useless. I do not find any useful reason behind why am I born? I really want to get out of this.

Hi lybrate-user! You may be experiencing such feeling as a result of boredom, failure to succeed or if you find someone more successful in life than you and feeling of inferiority complex also. First you need to analyse yourself, what are you, who are you and what is your ambition in life. Bring out your talents try to succeed step by step instead of wasting time being depressed. Try to improve your personality, look smarter and achieve goals set step by step. When you find people watching you or praising you you start getting happiness, joy and peace. Then slowly all your negative feelings and emotions run away. Take care. Go ahead succeeding in life, no one can stop you. With regards, Psy. MSV. With.

Homeopathy Cure for Sleep Disorders

Homeopathy Cure for Sleep Disorders

Some people simply lie down and fall asleep instantly, while others toss and turn for hours before going off to sleep. Getting a good night's sleep is important for everyone be it toddlers or adults. There are many reasons as to why people find it difficult to sleep or do not enjoy a restful sleep. Homeopathy can be very helpful in treating such sleep disorders.

Here are a few homeopathic medicines that can improve the quality of your sleep:

  1. Arsenicum Album: Sleeplessness caused by anxiety, fear or worry can be treated using Arsenicum Album. Apart from having difficulty falling asleep, patients suffering from this disorder often wake up in the middle of the night. Some patients also feel restless while sleeping, which makes the person toss and turn in bed and at times feel the need to walk about; these symptoms can also be treated with this medication.
  2. Coffea Cruda: This can be used to treat insomnia caused by mental and physical restlessness. Symptoms of the sleep disorder treated by Coffea Cruda are a constant flow of ideas, rapid thoughts, nervous energy and excitement. Having a cup of coffee before bedtime often triggers these symptoms. This is often experienced by people on the night before an important day.
  3. Gelsemium Sempervirens: Insomnia caused by exhaustion and anticipatory anxiety can be treated with Gelsemium Sempervirens. This is often experienced as a symptom associated with alcohol withdrawal. Babies who cannot fall asleep because of teething pains can also be given Gelsemium Sempervirens.
  4. Nux Vomica: Some people fall asleep early, but wake up in the middle of the night with an alert mind only to start feeling sleepy again early in the morning. This makes them irritable and tired. In such cases, nux vomica is known to be beneficial towards having a more restful sleep. This sleep disorder is worsened by narcotics and stimulants such as coffee or alcohol.
  5. Phosphorus: Some people, especially the elderly, feel sleepy all day, but can't fall asleep at night. Lying on their left side makes this worse and their sleep is broken into naps. Phosphorus can be used in such cases to regulate the sleep cycle and improve the quality of sleep.

Apart from medication, lifestyle changes can also help cure sleep disorders. Some of these changes are:

  1. Exercise early in the morning for at least 30 minutes each day.
  2. Avoid caffeine and foods that are difficult to digest especially before bedtime.
  3. Avoid snacks that can make your blood sugar fluctuate.
  4. Eat a protein snack or sip chamomile tea before going to bed.

My question is that in holy days of Ramadan what fruits should we use for water of body as we lose so much water.

MSc
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Hyderabad
My question is that in holy days of Ramadan what fruits should we use for water of body as we lose so much water.
Hi mir Diet tips to follow during Ramadan. o make you healthy, but only if it’s followed in a proper manner , if not then it can do more harm than good. After long hours of fasting it is usually a time to feast during iftar, but correct food choices can help you enjoy good foods along with health and vitality. Let me share few tips with you. 1.Break fast slowly – At Iftar first break your fast with dates. Dates help you to stabilize your blood sugar, they are rich in fiber , which helps for good bowel movements plus are good sources of potassium and magnesium, iron and calcium. Post that hydrate yourself with water. Then start with a warm soup and move on to fruits which are rich in water content like watermelon. Then go on your main meal 2. Make healthy choices- Once your fast is broken – after a warm bowl of soup, salads and fruits , if you are not hungry eat after sometime (the main meal) as eating full stomach can make you feel bloated. Choose whole grains, proteins, good fats and lean meats for your meals. Try to avoid fried foods and sweets. 3. Processed foods- Avoid having , foods high in salt and processed, packaged foods, as this will make you thirsty the next day during fasting period. Also they will lead to unnecessary weight gain. Also have sugary foods not directly after iftar but at a gap of 2-3 hrs post iftar in moderation . Moderation is the key here 4. Balanced meals– Even when on fast try to have a well balanced meal – containing all required nutrients -viz Carbohydrate, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. 5. Caffeine – Avoid coffee and caffeine containing foods as it can act as a diuretic and cause dehydration and make you more thirsty. If you are a habitual coffee drinker , try to avoid it few days before Ramadan so its not difficult for you to stay away from it during fasting and to avoid headaches and irritation 6. Equal division of meals– Even when fasting it is important to have 3 meals and divide them equally. You can have your first meal at iftar, then next few hrs before going to bed and 3rd one at Suhoor, to avoid continuous snacking during non fasting periods. 7. Follow the food plate method– You can follow the food plate method during you non fasting period- Half of your plate should be fruits and vegetables, 1/4 – whole grains (multigrain chapati/brown rice etc) and 1/4 lean meat, pulses and dals. + you can have curd or buttermilk along side. 10. Exercise– Continue light exercise during fasting period too, it helps to keep you active and helps to balance weight too, opt for walking for 45 mins or light cardio activity. I hope all these tips will make your Ramzan happy and healthy, and revitalise your spirit, mind and body.
