My friend has swine flu for 3 days. What medicines should he take and suggest some precautions to avoid it.

BAMS

My friend has swine flu for 3 days. What medicines should he take and suggest some precautions to avoid it.
Hi, please get him admitted to the hospital immediately as it is highly contageous and needs to be treated in the isolation ward. Please follow these precautions: - avoid touching nose, eyes or mouth frequently. - cover your face while coughing or sneezing with a tissue or handkerchief and make sure people around you also follow the same. - avoid public places, crowded areas and unhygienic conditions as ther is a possibility of catching an infection. - if you are feeling sick, stay back at home and take rest so that you can avoid spreading of the disease and even you can recover fast if you take adequate rest. - in swine flu endemic areas, wear standard swine flu mask (h-95 mask) which are worn by the doctors and sample collecting technicians. Regular surgical mask which sold in the market like hot cakes are not good enough to prevent the entry of the viruses. - maintain personnelhygiene by washing your hands before and after eating and after visiting public places. - one can even get vaccinated after consulting a doctor in the hospital.

Role of Homeopathy In Treating Nasal Polyps!

Diploma in Gastroenterology, Diploma in Dermatology, BHMS

Role of Homeopathy In Treating Nasal Polyps!

A nasal polyp is a growth within the nasal cavity, which may cause problems with your health. Smaller polyps don't tend to create any problem, but larger ones can cause breathing difficulty, sneezing problems, losing the sense of smell and a dampening of taste as well. Conventional medicine usually prescribes surgery, but homeopathy has effective cures to reduce the polyp and lessen the symptoms over time.

Symptoms

  • Nasal polypsis is a disease affecting the adults. When children below 10 are affected, cystic fibrosis needs to be ruled out.
  • Small polyps cause no symptoms at all.
  • Larger ones can cause obstruction in the air passages of the nose causing stuffiness or blocked sensation.
  • Partial or total loss of sense of smell.
  • When they obstruct the discharge from the sinus openings, polyps lead to chronic sinusitis.
  • Sneezing and watery nasal discharge due to associated allergies.
  • Asthma and aspirin sensitivity may be present in patients with ethmoidal polyps.
  • Unilateral nasal obstruction may be present in patients with an antrochoanal polyp.
  • Headache, snoring and a permanent runny nose, facial pain, hyponasal voice and cough.
  • Nosebleeds.

Treatment of Nasal Polyps with Homeopathy

Homeopathy is very effective in dealing with these little growths. Not only are the symptoms removed, the growths themselves vanish over a period of time. Homeopathy is uniquely placed as it takes into account not only the symptoms, but also the causes of the problem. Some causes are at times obvious. Others may not be obvious and are subtle. These may be the stress factors that the person had been undergoing before the problem surfaced. There may be some other things that need the experience of a seasoned homeopath to decipher.

Timely administered homeopathic medicines help avoid surgery and its inherent complications. Moreover, it is very common for the condition to recur even after surgery. Homeopathy is therefore highly recommended for people who have had surgery done to remove nasal polyps as the treatment would have a preventive effect, by which chance of recurrence is minimized.

In short, the treatment is targeted towards the root cause of the illness and hence the disease is treated from the core. Homeopathy believes in treating the patient and not just the disease.

There are 70 remedies which give great relief. However, the correct choice and the resulting relief is a matter of experience and right judgment on the part of the doctor. The treatment is decided after thorough case taking of the patient. Thus medicines are tailor-made unlike allopathy in which all patients receive the same drugs or surgery although trade name may be different.

For total cure, the treatment must be taken seriously for about 2 to 3 years depending upon the number and size of nasal polyps. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a homeopath.

What Should Be The Ideal Meal Count In A Day?

Wellness Coach, Diploma in Diet and Nutrition, Diploma in Weight Loss
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Bangalore
What Should Be The Ideal Meal Count In A Day?

With the advancement in nutritional science, researchers have realised that lesser gap between meals means lesser-stored fat which in turn also helps to control blood sugar, boost metabolism and aids in weight management. After three hours of a meal our blood sugar starts falling and after four hours the digestion is complete. After 5 hours we are ready to gobble up whatever comes in our way as the body is looking for a way to refuel. This may lead to consuming high-calorie food.

Eating at regular intervals can save you from binging, keep your blood sugar level stable and help you stay energised. Also, digestion itself is work for the body and the activity leads to burning calories. However, one needs to be careful and not consume very high-calorie meals as that would increase the risk of chronic diseases.
Since everybody is different, there cannot be a set number of meals prescribed for everyone. It depends on when a person feels hungry and how that person would like to deal with it. But you need to understand your body's need for replenishment and provide the nourishment it requires. Hence, according to your body's requirement you should have small meals at short intervals which could range from six to eight in a day. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dietitian/Nutritionist.
