Me and my girl had an intercourse I made sure I didn't load inside two days prior her period she have to start her cycle on 23rd of Feb but she didn't she felt cramps and tender breast and she is discharging white fluid and sometimes she felt her period started but it actually didn't is she pregnant or is it just an irregular period.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology

She is unlikely to get pregnant with the sex 2 days prior to menses date. Because of stress or hormonal changes menses may get delayed. As u said she is feeling like menses, which is a strong sign that menses r going to come. If it has already crossed 7 days from the expected date, she would benefit be getting urine pregnancy test done.

Mira and her boyfriend had a kind of unprotected sex this morning. However her boyfriend did not enter her. Their genitals rubbed against each other while she had her panty on all the time. She is not sure if there was any pre ejaculation or if it was completely dry. Should she be doing something about it. Even if there was an ejaculation are there chances that she could get pregnant? Should she be taking some contraceptive pill. If so which one. It's her 7th day after her periods.

General Physician, Udaipur
No pregnancy can never ocurr without fertilization, a process in which male sperm and female egg meet.in your case there is nil chances of fertilization. So no chance of any pregnancy. So be happy and smile. But for pcod kindly consult a gynaecologist.

When Should You Opt for Surrogacy and What Factors Should Be Considered?

DGO, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology -, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Delhi
When Should You Opt for Surrogacy and What Factors Should Be Considered?

When should you opt for surrogacy and what factors should you consider?

Surrogacy is the method that is used for reproduction in which a woman other than the woman, who wants to have the baby, agrees to undertake pregnancy and give birth to a child for the couple that appoints her. A couple can opt for surrogacy in the following conditions.

- infertility

In the case of females who cannot reproduce due to infertility or some other medical conditions that make the process risky for both the mother and the childlike heart diseases, liver infirmities and high blood pressure, surrogacy can opt for so that the couple can experience the bliss of becoming parents.

- if you are a single parent

A single parent can opt for surrogacy in order to fulfil his/her dream of having a child to live for.

- other factors

There are several other factors when a couple might want to opt for surrogacy. For instance, in couples, where the female is too busy building a stable career for herself and she cannot take the risk of opting for pregnancy, surrogacy can come to their rescue. Also, repeated miscarriages, pelvic disorder, hysterectomy, an impaired uterus or the absence of uterus can act as reasons to opt for surrogacy.

There are a few factors that need to be considered before opting for surrogacy. They are listed below.

Type of surrogacy

Traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy are the two options available. In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate mother not only carries the embryo in her womb until childbirth but also donates the egg. However in gestational surrogacy, the egg is taken from the biological mother and impregnated in the womb of the surrogate mother through in vitro fertilization techniques. The intended parents need to take a decision regarding the type of surrogacy that they wish to opt for.

Surrogacy laws

The intended parents must be aware of the surrogacy laws prevalent in their country so as to make sure that they can go through the entire process smoothly. For instance, in India, it is mandatory that the surrogate child should be biologically related to one of the two parents.

Cost of surrogacy

Another important factor that needs to be considered while opting for surrogacy is the cost of the undertaking. It can involve high costs due to the unpredictability of the situations surrounding the process, so the financial stability of the intended parents should be kept in mind. Also, choose the right agency or even if you choose an independent candidate to become the surrogate mother for your child, make a wise choice.

Dear lybrate-user, it is best to have a healthy mix of fruits and vegetables of all colours during pregnancy. Wash them well or peel as required. Avoid raw banana, papaya and raw paneer as it can be contaminated and may cause you to fall sick.

Hello, My wife UPT shows Weakly Positive. But we are not planning for baby now. Please advice some medicine to abort the pregnancy.

Neurologist,
Mr. lybrate-user- think about it- and I would say this is not the platform to handle such a matter- you'd have to visit a doctor in person! And please don't chose a Neurologist. It would be an obstetrician.

Hello I am 12 weeks of pregnancy and I feel like eating only sweets, is it safe to eat sweets n dark chocolates all the time, please kindly help me.

Diploma in Hospital Administration, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Chocolate might actually help expectant mothers and fetuses by producing antioxidants, as well as reducing the stress that could lead to pregnancy complications like Pre- Eclampsia. Consuming high levels of caffeine can result in babies with a low birth weight, while in extreme measures, too much can also cause miscarriage. But in sensible amounts, chocolate is a lovely, safe treat with which to indulge your sweet tooth, or pregnancy craving!

Get rid of fear of pregnancy. Delayed period, putting on weight all are part of PCOD. Meet Gynecologist for long term treatment of PCOD. One part of treatment is to reduce weight.

Smart Phones

Post graduate in counselling psychology
Psychologist,

It's Not Just Phone Radiations, Smartphones has other means too, to harm our emotional and mental health
Today we use smartphones in every possible moment of life; it makes our life easy in every imaginable situation from managing professional contacts, to ordering food, to getting navigational assistance, to paying bills etc. But have you ever wondered, what is the price we would pay if we turn completely dependent or addicted to our smartphones? Smartphones can increase the chances of sleep disorders, lack of concentration, slows a child's socio-emotional growth, can cause compulsive nature etc.

Psychologist Shivani Misri Sadhoo suggests that apart from harmful phone radiations; smartphones and tablets has other ways too, to harm our mental & emotional health.

1. Smartphone Causes sleep disorder: When a person stares at the backlit portable screen of the phone or tablet, it shines short-wavelength, blue light, into the eyes. This stimulates the brain, telling it to stay alert and when Smartphone is used extensively post evening time, the chances are high that body will not release the hormone melatonin, essential for maintaining body’s biological clock. Hence depending on the person’s body sooner or later the chances are very high that person will suffer from the sleep disorder. Prolonged inadequate sleep, not only degenerate the brain cells, but it also causes high blood pressure and heart-related diseases.

2. Smartphones affects’ the social and emotional development of child: when a metropolitan child (generally they are burdened with school homework) is regularly allowed to play with smartphones, their opportunity to learn from face to face interactions or from physical activities get shorter. This affects their brain development as well as hinders their socio-emotional growth.

3.A smartphone gives an instant access to social networking sites and emails; these features sometimes can build compulsion among a person to constantly keep checking updates and emails. Such a compulsion can create lack of concentration, unnecessary mood swing (if the person find an unpleasant update or email at wrong hours of the day, like before sleep).

Hello, This may be stress induced this time. If pregnancy is ruled out then you may opt for a withdrawal bleed with progesterones.

High BP in pregnancy increases risk for future atherosclerosis

Women who have hypertension during pregnancy are at increased risk of developing atherosclerosis when they are older.

In a study published in the journal Hypertension, Dr. Siamak Sabour, of the University Medical Center in Utrecht, the Netherlands, said that hypertension in pregnancy acts as a kind of "nature’s cardiovascular stress test" showing proneness to future disease.

I am six months pregnant, I want to know sometime I feel pressure lower there nd I get terrified that something is going to drop. Is it really weird at this stage. I just had my anomaly usg nd everything is normal. Nd also I feel my baby only n the right side. My placenta is left lateral grade 1.

Feeling pressure in the lower abdomen at this stage of pregnancy may indicate that your cervix may be short. See the scan report and if cervix length is more than three cms don't worry. It is due to your baby's head pressing lower abdomen and you are very sensitive to feel it. Any doubt consult your obstetrician.
