Hi heal pain usually happen due to weak muscle in you lower leg and in adds on if you are heavy in weight o start strengthening he leg muscle and for pain please apply ice for 10 minutes three times a day in night local applicatiion of some pain relieving balm or gel will also give you some relieve.

Hello Start physiotherapy treatment and learn posture care/ spine exercise. Meanwhile take few precautions. 1)Take hot water fomentation for 20 min. at every 3hrs. interval. 2) Do not lift heavy weights or twist your spine 3)Do not wear high heals Do not ignore your back pain and do reply for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. I am 64 years old. I am unable to walk even 10 meters at stretch. I can not even stand for 10 minutes. My left leg becomes senseless if I stand for 5-10 minutes. I am taking medicine for BP and lipvas20 etc for the last 5 years but no improvement. Suggest what should I do.

Hi looks like you have disc bulge at lumber. You can start physiotherapy treatment as electrotherapy and mannual therapy will be helpful for you.

Joint Replacement Surgery - When Should You Go for  it

Joint Replacement Surgery is a procedure where the damaged surface of the advanced arthritic joints are removed and replaced with artificial joints, such as metallic, plastic and ceramic joints.
These surfaces closely replicate the original anatomy.

When do you need a knee replacement?
When you suffer from severe pain or deformity in the joint (knee in this case), the pain or stiffness and deformity makes it difficult to perform simple tasks. Severe grade IV osteoarthritic knees of  people over 50 years when have pain, swelling and deformity fail to respond to medicines, physiotherapy, injections and rest.

Aim of the surgery

  1. Correct the deformity: Relieve the pain and give near full movements almost immediately after the procedure. Details including techniques and safety, it is a safe, rewarding surgery with a success rate of as high as 99.5% when done by an able and experienced professional.
  2. Anaesthesia: Usually it is the spinal cord epidural where one is rendered numb for 3 to 4 hours waist down. Sometimes a general anaesthesia is given. A 4 to 5 inches cut is made in front of the knee and all the damaged cartilages, bones, loose bodies are removed from the lower end of the thigh, upper end of the tibia (usually of few millimetres) and the surface re-crafted to match the size and shape of the artificial joint (it is usually imported). They are fixed with bone cement. The ligaments and muscles are reattached and the parts closed.
  3. Recovery: Stand up and walk a few steps with a walker the day after the procedure i.e. in 24 hours. Physiotherapy in hospital for 5 to 7 days and/or walking, progressively longer walks and exercises over the following 15 days. Stitches are removed in 15 days. The patient can return back to normal activity in 4 to 8 weeks the surgery.
  4. Activities: Normal walks of 3 to 5 km per day Climbing stairs, cycling, swimming, and driving can be performed with the new implant(s) now.
  5. Avoid: Squatting/kneeling Prohibited: contact sports like football, cricket, tennis; jumping; adventure sports Longevity of joints: 15-35 years depending on the materials used.

What I do?
You feel weak, so you should take proper diet you take 5 meals in a day in frequent intervals and don't skip breakfast. Include fruits and vegetables in your diet milk and milk products and give heavy and healthy breakfast like sprouts, dalia, poha, upma, oats. Include protein rich food in your diet.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Hi, Please follow these home remedies to cure constipation: - Eat a big bowl of papaya daily before or after food. - Soak dry fig in water overnight and eat it in the morning everyday. - Add 2tsf of lemon juice and a pinch of salt to a glass of hot water and drink it on empty stomach in the morning. - Eat one medium sized raw potato along with its peel daily. - Include lot of vegeables like cucumber, carrot, onion,beetroot, ladies finger,radish, snakegourd, beans, etc, both cooked and raw , in your diet. - Add 1tsf of pure ghee to a glass of hot milk and drink it at bedtime.

Dear Dr. My unmarried student daughter's (20 years old)legs are swelling. Left leg is swelling more and right leg is swelling less. When she is in completely rest legs are not swelling. It is happening for the last one and half year. She is quite healthy and little bit over weight. Earlier we had a consultant with Dr.At Ranchi they found reports normal but the problem exists. She is in Delhi right now. From where to start I do not know. Please guide us

If there is no history of any injury i suppose you should get a consultation from a general physician and get her checkup done. I am 41 years female and have pain in buttocks and legs since three months. Mri shows disc bulging. I am taking medications pregabalin sr and physiotherapy swd, ift, 3 excercises. Twice I took traction but it increased the pain. The excercises also seem to have increased the tingling and pain. Please advise.

As I suggest to all my patients, you should avoid all activities which tend to increase you symptoms so if traction and other exercises are in creasing them, it is better to avoid for sometime. I have a low back injury due to excessive & unscientific gymming. I cant stand static at any place for over 10 minutes as the back starts hurting and I have to start move around. The injury has been there for last 4 months. Please advice.
