Hello Doc, can I take hot water bath before sleep in periods? Would it be useful for body ache due to periods?
Yes. Hot water shower especially before going to sleep will relieve the menstrual cramps as a result of hot water flowing over the sore areas of the body. Also adding a few drops of essential oils of your choice will help in increasing the overall effect of your healing. Your feedback matters. Thank-you.

Hello, Delayed periods could be due to Polycystic ovarian disease, hypothyroidism,Vigorous exercise, stress, obesity pregnancy to name a few. You may try the following to naturally have menses: 1) Increase your intake of Vitamin C- Amla, orange juice, Brocolli, tomatoes. 2) Destress yourself by taking a relaxing warm bath .Stress alters the function of your hypothalamus, the part of your brain that regulates your hormones and causes menstruation to happen. 3) Maintain a healthy weight. 4) Avoid Exercising too much: Overtraining can lead to decreased levels of estrogen in your body, causing your period to stop. 5) Get a Pregnancy test done. 6) Have a healthy lifestyle by sleeping on time and eating a balanced diet.

I am 26 years old girl I am 21 weeks pregnant. Due to my short cervix length (3.4cm) I had put cervical stitch. Is this safe to travel by car or flight?

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology

Less you travel it is better. Good road condition and flight should not be a detterent factor particularly at this stage. But in case your amniotic sac ruptures it will be a real problem.

Breast implant is a good method to restore breast volume and make them attractive. Alternatively, fat grafting may be considered.

Most important symptom is missed period. There r other symptoms but all of them appear 2 weeks after the missed period. Those r nausea, vomiting, breast fullness and increased urination. If you have a missed period then you should get urine pregnancy test done at home after 7 days of missed period. Menses can be missed either because of hormonal changes or even stress or even if you have put on some weight in recent times then also menses can be missed.

If there is no period from 1.5 month and she is not pregnant then what is the problem going with her? and now what she need to do? is it a serious problem?

Diploma in Endoscopic Surgery, DGO, MBBS

Dear . If you are sure of negative pregnancy test then probably its because of an anovulatory cycle (commonly due to a hormanal disbalance). She will get her period but if not or if this happens more often then please bring her for a checkup.

Ectopic Pregnancy - 4 Causes Behind It

MBBS, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery, M.Med.Sci (ART), Specialist Training in Reproductive Medicine, Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Ectopic Pregnancy - 4 Causes Behind It

In a normal pregnancy, the egg that the ovaries release enters the fallopian tube. If a sperm fertilises it, the fertilised egg attaches itself inside the uterus. However, sometimes the fertilised egg can attach itself outside the uterus. This condition is called ectopic pregnancy.

Ectopic pregnancy can be detected in the first few weeks of the pregnancy itself. If your doctor does discover ectopic pregnancy, you would need immediate medical attention. Ectopic pregnancies can be sad and scary. The survival rate of the baby is extremely low, and you may need some time to get over your loss. Fortunately, one ectopic pregnancy doesn't mean you can never conceive again. Many women who lost their first baby to ectopic pregnancy have been able to have a healthy and normal pregnancy the second time around.

The causes of ectopic pregnancy include:

  1. An inflammation or infection of the fallopian tube can lead it to become entirely or partially blocked.
  2. Scar tissue from a surgery or an infection of the fallopian tube may also hinder the movement of the fertilised egg.
  3. Surgery in the tubes or pelvic areas in the past might cause adhesions.
  4. Birth defects or abnormal growths can cause anomalies in the shape of the tube.

These causes are usually followed by certain risk factors, such as:

  • Age (The age group of 35-44 especially)
  • An ectopic pregnancy in the past
  • Previous abdominal or pelvic surgery
  • Pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Several prompted abortions
  • Conceiving with an intrauterine device in place
  • Smoking
  • Endometriosis (growth of uterus lining tissues outside the uterus).
  • Fertility treatments.

The signs and symptoms of ectopic pregnancy include:

  1. Minimal vaginal bleeding
  2. Vomiting and nausea with pain
  3. Pain in the lower abdomen
  4. Sharp cramps in the abdomen
  5. Localised pain (Pain concentrated on one side of your body)
  6. Pain in your neck, rectum or shoulder
  7. Rupture of the fallopian tubes can cause fainting due to the bleeding and pain

The treatment of ectopic pregnancy can be any one of the following:

  1. If the pregnancy has not progressed too far, methotrexate will be administered. This absorbs the pregnancy tissue and can save the fallopian tubes.
  2. The tubes may be removed if they have ruptured or stretched, and have started bleeding.
  3. Laparoscopic surgery (operations performed by making minor incisions) may be performed to remove or repair the tubes and recover the ectopic pregnancy. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

I am 35, I am trying for my first baby. I have 17 days late period but still negative test what is the region behind this?

Diploma in homeopathy, B. Sc
Homeopath, Gurgaon
For starters, 35 is leaving it a bit late for your first baby - it not only becomes more difficult, but can cause complications. However, you can bolster your system with selected vitamins, minerals and essential elements.

if there's no swellings, if there's no albumin in urine, bp can be controlled and you can be tried for normal delivery using painless mode by giving epidural injections. weight of baby is not low, it's average. if you get good natural pains, mouth of uterus starts to open up with baby descending down slowly, wish you a normal delivery with controlled bp.
