I heard there are two types of vaccination for babies normal and painless which should we prefer.

I heard there are two types of vaccination for babies normal and painless which should we prefer.
The painless and painful varieties are only for DPT which is part of vaccination at 6, 10 and 14wks. The difference is the reaction they cause both locally and systemically. Painful DPT had more local pain, swelling, redness and also more fever and irritability. All these are much less in painless type. The effectiveness of both is almost the same. However Indian academy of Pediatric advises to give painful variety for 6 10 14wks immunisation.(except in case of severe side effects due to painful type)

Common Skin Problems in Newborns

Eczema

This is very common after the baby has turned about 2-3 months of age or even slightly later. This appears as a red area with itching on the cheeks or the chest area. These babies usually have very dry skin, and it is also not uncommon for one of the parents to have eczema. This form is called atopic eczema. The severity of the eczema is very variable, but the vast majority grow out of the eczema by the time they reach 15 years of age. This tends to be a persistent problem and needs to be managed on a regular basis.

The most important factor to keep in mind is to use a gentle soap and a pH neutral moisturiser all over the body. The soap and moisturiser needs to be continued for years and the dermatologist may prescribe a steroid or anti-inflammatory creams for brief periods during a flare up.

Give frequent breastfeeding to him, day and night atleast 8 - 10 times per day, because milk is complete food for this age. Also give nutrient rich balance diet to mother along with iron, calcium supplementation. Consult pediatrician whether he is having some disease or not.

Babies do sleep more during the day. They are not able to distinguish the difference between day and night. Monitoring regularly the growth and development by assessing weight and head circumference it can be decided if the baby gets enough nutrition, it is not ideal to give anything except breastmilk in first 4-6 months. Ask privately for regular advice on child rearing.

Well first answer is yes. You can give but in this season citrous food can give rise to upper airway infections. So better first you start things made up of milk which your child is used to (milk. Like kheer raab sheera.

Hi. My toddler is 20 months old. While sleeping she sometimes drools. Has never done it before. She has 20 teeth now. So I am wondering what can be the problem. No fever no fatigue. Eating fine playing fine. Talking fine. All her normal activities are the same. No behavioral changes. Please help. Is it normal or something I need to be concerned about.

Hi. My toddler is 20 months old. While sleeping she sometimes drools. Has never done it before. She has 20 teeth now....
You should talk with your doctor and check to see if it is a mounth tone issue or just normal teething. There are times when a child does not have the muscle control to hold their mouth closed; sometimes it is an issues that needs to be addressed by an ENT. Your freind should be concerned about her little one, by the age of six they typically have the ability to keep their saliva in their mouth and if they are not it maybe be an indcation of something bigger going on. Seek professional medical advice and if your baby is still having the drooling issue at 20-24 when he/she is not teething call your local Early Intervention Dept. (they are in every state) and have them send you to a Speech or Occupational Therapist to look at oral/motor functios. The earlier you address any developmental concern the better for your child. Good luck.

My 1 year old son goes to day care. I am working and I have heard that day care/creche gives sleeping pills to babies. Please tell me how can I assure that my baby is not getting these pills. I will be back home by 6 in evening. He will be active for sometime and then have milk and sleep. Please help me to know that I am not risking my son's health.

Now this is an eye opener that babies do get sleeping pills in creches, you have to keep an eye on such creches and report to appropriate authorities if you have definite proof, better be careful and spend a day in the creche to find the daily routine going on there.
