Hi. There are four main factors which causes acne: Oil production Dead skin cells Clogged pores Bacteria Factors that may worsen the acne: Androgen hormones, certain medications (drugs containing corticosteroids, androgens or lithium tcan worsen acne), dietary factors, including dairy products and carbohydrate-rich foods — such as bread, bagels and chips — may trigger acne and Stress can make acne worse. Management: Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day (and for local application as well) and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 20 days. Also, use Bakson’s Apricot scrub 1-2times a week on the area.

Dear, it's impossible to deny the effects of anxiety on your body's gastrointestinal system. One of the most interesting aspects of diarrhea is that it can actually be a sign that you're suffering from anxiety. Anxiety is the activation of the fight or flight system when no fears are present. That stress causes a rush of adrenaline that redistributes both water and blood flow. That redistribution means that your gastrointestinal tract is not filtering water correctly, leading to poor stool health. Your body also slows the digestion of food, which contributes to diarrhea. Eating a diet that is healthier for your gastrointestinal system (good fiber, low acid content, etc.) is a good place to start your treatment. Exercise more, stay distracted and slow your breathing or learn to relax. Psychotherapy should clear your problems. Contact me for that. Take care.

10 Bad Habits That Make You Fat

10 Bad Habits That Make You Fat

Obesity is rapidly evolving as a public health issue for our country and as educated people we are responsible in contributing to the ever increasing problem. So what is there that leads to weight gain despite our all effort? The simplest answer is ignorance! Most of the person who are trying hard to curb on weight gain do not succeed in doing so due to inadequate and poor gathered information. Remaining hungry is not the solution for weight loss and we need to inculcate good habits in ourselves smartly to sustain it for long time, else you will loose kilos in few months and regain much more than that .This cycle would continue until we understand the basic of healthy eating.

So the important aspect is to make consistent and slow changes in our lifestyle to sustain ideal weight.

There are few bad habits to watch for:

  1. Fizzy drinks: Most of fizzy drinks are full of calories and they go down easy the throat. But before we realize we make our system take in loads of calories. Try to restrict on your soft drinks and prefer other beverages like lemon juice and coconut water, both of which can be refreshing with minimal calories.
  2. TV watching: Eating while watching TV is something which is a very prominent cause of gaining fat. Usually while on screen we tend to forget how much we have taken in and most of time we realize this when a packet full of chips becomes empty!!
  3. Lack of sleep: It has been shown that due to lack of sleep our hormone cycle gets disturbed and the cortisol levels change, leading to weight gain. Second if we remain awake for long time we tend to eat more , there by gaining extra calories.
  4. Shopping when hungry: Research has shown that when we buy our grocery when we are hungry, you tend to buy things which are easy to grab and are high in calorie dense. Hence always have a healthy food before you go for shopping.
  5. Desserts: Eating something after main course often leads to high calorie food intake like ice cream, sweets. So instead of these, try to take simple deserts like lemon water, or something non caloric. Best is to avoid it completely.
  6. Time of meal: Most of the time we try to postpone or skip our meal, ultimately this leads to severe hunger, making us eat whatever we can grab immediately. Most of the time this is high caloric fast food. Always plan your meals and carry healthy food items with you like fruits, sandwiches.
  7. Fat free/ sugar free food: Fat free or sugar free foods are not calorie free food items. We should always look for the portion size and amount of calorie we are going to have.
  8. Lack of exercise: Not taking time out for your regular exercise makes you gain weight and also makes you lazy.
  9. Going out to eat: Frequent outings leads to increase in the consumption of food high in calorie, sugar and salt, leading to weight gain. Restrict your outings to not more than once or twice a month.
  10. Dehydration: Drink lots of water, so that you keep on flushing out harmful toxins.

So to avoid being obese eat healthy and exercise regularly.

Hi I am 64, retired person, have undergone cabg 13 years ago. In dec 14, I experienced angina again. Ecg, tmt and ct angiogram confirmed that there are new blocks in the grafts. I have been advised to take vasodilators with other routine medicines. Another surgery or angioplasty were ruled out. My query is how long should I survive on vasodilators. Wouldn't I become resistant to this drug after some time. Is second surgery possible in my case. Is there no other option at all. For your kind information I walk 40 minutes daily without any significant pain though I feel some discomfort initially for a few minutes. I carry sorbitrate tablets always with me. Will this tablet help in an emergency. I would be grateful for your kind advice. With best regards.

DM Cardiology
Cardiologist, Delhi
Dear exact advise would not be possible without seeing your angiography cd, but whatever you have mentioned means you have now diffuse blockages in your grafts. Since a repeat angioplasty or bypass surgery is ruled out, there is a non-invasive modality called eecp, which can help you. This is a modality which helps in recruiting collateral arteries, in the patient, which are natural bypass arteries. You can contact us for the same. Hello, Sex stimulates forward peristalsis movement of the intestine. If you have some gastric trouble or constipation problem, sexual stimulation can result in trapped and obstructed gases in the bowel this causing cramping abdominal pain after sex. Its not an infection or any other disease. Improve your bowel habits, take fibrous diet, fix meal timings, take dry figs or raisins at night with milk. Your problems will be solved.

Dear Lybrate User, *Avoid more salty, dry, maida related junk foods, more tea, coffee. *Consume more fresh fruit juice. *Practice yoga, meditation, breathing exercise. *Cleansing shall be one of the most important steps of your skin care routine. Even if you are not having an acne problem washing the face twice a day helps in removing dirt, oil and dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Less oil and dirt also means less acne. While washing your face never apply soap and always use a mild face cleanser. Also wash the face only with warm or cold water as using hot water can cause pimples *To avoid having pimples it is not just necessary to keep your face oil free but your hair shall also not be oily. Leaving overnight oil on your hair can cause pimples as the hair touching your face will make your skin oily. Wash your hair regularly and don’t let them fall on your face. Also go easy on products like hair gels, fragrances and deodorants as they can clog up the skin pores leading to pimples.
