You can try out ginger ale.but it is better to get her auscultated(checked through a stethoscope) by a general practitioner so that he can give you some mucolytics so that the csputtum will pass out through the stools.meantime also avoid cold food and drinks.

I was suffering from abdominal Koch's in 2015 took tb treatment for 6 months But still 2018 there are subcentimetric mesenteric and paraaortic lymph nodes available in my abdomen. But no fever and no pain. And weight is tool low 40 kg Am still suffering from tb or not?

MBBS Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, MD - Chest & TB
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
Duration of standard Antitubercular treatment for abdominal koch's is 6 months. Lymphnodes may persist even after complete treatment and cure. Sub cm lymphnodes are usually considered reactive/normal unless we are sampling in PET positive lymphnodes in case of suspected malignancy/metastasis (even if they are small).

Mr. Lybrate-user, excess use of cough syrups containing codeine for long time is not good. Codeine can lead to addiction, both physical and mental. Plus causes constipation. According to the company's own list of side-effects list it can cause cns depression, lassitude, drowsiness, loss of appetite, dizziness, blurring of vision, tightness in chest, hypertension etc. So such preparations should be used sparingly only for a very short duration. Thanks.

My 5-year-old daughter has asthma. What is the effect of using an asthma preventer long-term? I heard that using it for years might cause bone shrinkage. Is it true? Are there any vitamins or supplements to help vision?

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
If steroids are given orally for long periods of time than only it will cause bone shrinkage but if given through nebulisation than it won't have any side effects

Weakness may b due to fever. Take rest. If fever continues take appropriate tests. Drink hot water. Hot milk with pepper to soothen your cough. Drink rice or wheat porridge, soups to improve your stamina. Opt for bland diet. No too much spicy n salt. Mild good tat aid in digestion during fever.
