36 year old female was detected thyroid and started thyronorm 25 mcg around 15 months back. She is regularly taking medication. She got it checked TSH in September 2015 and it was 4.65. However in June. .when tested TSH was 5. 79. .slightly above normal range. She is feeling weakness, giddiness, slight nausea (some times ).and her appetite got increased and started eating frequently. My query is that are the mentioned symptoms associated with rise in TSH. .Do we need to continue with medication or need to consult Dr. for further investigation.

Mr. Lybrate-user, hypothyroidism produces a number of symptoms like early fatigue, tiredness, weight gain, dry skin, dry hair and hair fall, muscle and joint pain, irregular periods, excess flow, occasionally giddiness and nausea may be there. Ideally when on treatment tsh level should be between 3 to 4 milli units/l, to relieve all symptoms. So it appears her current dose of thyroxine is inadequate, needs to be increased. Plus patients weight is much high, almost having grade 1 obesity with a bmi of 29.16 kgs/m2 (normal <23 kgs). With high tsh level efforts to reduce weight also do not become successful. Thanks.

Hello lybrate user. There may be many reasons for sleep difficulty which needs further interview with you for exploring deep into your problems. In general medications for a short while usually help to get back to normal sleep. Along with this good sleep hygiene practices and decreasing stressful lifestyle helps. Good sleep hygiene involves having fixed sleep-wake schedule, not having coffee, tea or cold drinks after 5 in evening, usually not working in bright lights late in night, not using the sleeping bed for anything else other than sleeping and not doing anything interesting at the bedtime. Stress management involves having a healthy diet usually high in protien, having a daily exercise for 30 mins which can be chosen by you as per your interest (jogging, swimming, cycling, jimming, skipping) and a healthy work environment. Bringing compassion for other people and the nature around you can also help you decreasing the stress and live healthy. You can get in touch as a detailed interview with you can lead us to the actual reason of you having sleep difficulties and thus can the further management by medications be done.

There are several things you can do to prevent a cold. they are all easy. -Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. -Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. -Get plenty of rest/sleep.staying at home will keep you from spreading germs.Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Drink plenty of fluids(veg/tomato soups, dal water/coconut water/herbal tea etc), and eat nutritious food(like sprouts/boiled eggs without yolk with milk). Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can impair your sleep -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Complications like infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily

General Physician,
I have a headache and now a days I am not getting a proper sleep how can I get rid of this issue what should I do to ...
Head ache can be of many reasons and the commonest is visual refractive error of eyes, Checking eyes and correcting errors can cure headaches, similarly the cause can be migraine and tension. Tension relieving methods and migraine medication can sure these. This includes the blood vessels, muscles and nerves of the head and neck. They may also result from changes in chemical activity in the brain. Primary headaches can occur when pain-sensitive structures in the head do not work properly. Common primary headaches include migraines, cluster headaches and tension headaches. Headache is a broad term that encompasses many different things. Headaches are pains that occur in any region of the head; they can occur on both sides the head or be isolated to a certain location. Headaches can radiate across the head from a central point or have a pincering vise-like quality. They can be sharp, throbbing or dull, appear gradually or suddenly and last for multiple days or less than an hour.4 There are multiple ways to define headaches. The International Headache Society (IHS) categorize headaches as primary headaches or secondary headaches, depending on what has caused them 1) Primary headaches Primary headaches are stand-alone illnesses caused directly by the overactivity of, or problems with, structures in the head that are pain-sensitive. This includes the blood vessels, muscles and nerves of the head and neck. They may also result from changes in chemical activity in the brain. Primary headaches can occur when pain-sensitive structures in the head do not work properly. Common primary headaches include migraines, cluster headaches and tension headaches. Some types of headache can be both primary and secondary as they may be an isolated issue or a result of another condition or illness. Such headaches can involve:  Direct physical stimuli, such as temperature and external pressure  Pain over the scalp (epicranial)  Physical exertion  Other miscellaneous headaches. 2) Secondary headaches Secondary headaches are headaches that are symptoms of another condition that stimulates the pain-sensitive nerves of the head. There are a vast number of different conditions that can cause secondary headaches, ranging in severity from an alcohol-induced hangover to a brain tumor. Check your eye first and inform me Secondary headaches can be the result of serious conditions such as stroke, but can equally be a consequence of eating cold food too quickly. In addition to those two examples, the following list should serve to illustrate the variety of different conditions that can cause secondary headaches:  Blood clots  Brain freeze (ice cream headaches)  Carbon monoxide poisoning  Concussion  Dehydration  Glaucoma  Influenza  Overuse of pain medication (rebound headaches)  Panic attacks  Stroke. As headaches can be a symptom of a serious condition, it is important to seek medical advice if headaches become more severe, regular or persistent. For example, if the headache is more painful and disruptive than previous headaches, worsens or fails to improve with medication or is accompanied by other symptoms such as confusion, fever, sensory changes and stiffness, a health care provider should be contacted.

Dear lybrate user, I won't think that you will face any problem in future. However in order to minimise the after-effects of over-masturbation you can take homoeopathic cinchona officinalis 30 or china 30, 5 drops, thrice daily in empty stomach. This medicine will help to fight the seminal debility caused by the sexual exertion created by over-masturbation. Also I would like to advise you to conduct your semen analysis test. It will reveal the abnormalities in your semen if you really have any. If you find any abnormality in your semen analysis report
