Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily.

Osteoarthritis in Old Age - How It Can Be Prevented?

Are you aware of a disease called osteoarthritis that is more likely to develop in case you are aging? Osteoarthritis is a disease, which affects the joints of your body. It occurs when the cartilages that protect and cushion your bones break down, causing swelling and pain, and may make you immobile. The chances of developing osteoarthritis increase with age as your cartilages start breaking down. Women who are beyond menopause are at a higher risk of getting this disease as they do not produce estrogen, which is essential for bone growth. There are several precautions you should follow for the prevention of osteoarthritis, especially if you are aged. They are as follows:

  1. Manage your occupational risks
    • Certain jobs involve repetitive motions, which cause stress on your joints.
    • If your job or occupation involves a lot of lifting, twisting, kneeling, and walking, you should consult a doctor.
  2. Exercise
    • It is important for you to undertake exercises of low impact, which is very crucial for improving joint health, even if you are aging.
    • You should choose activities that involve strength training along with stretching and aerobic exercise.
    • Regular exercise helps in the slowing down or prevention of osteoarthritis. It helps you in maintaining healthy joints, reducing fatigue and pain, increasing your bone and muscle strength, and relieves stiffness.
  3. Maintaining a healthy body weight
    • Excess weight is a primary risk factor for osteoarthritis, especially if you are aged. It cxauses extra stress on your joints that boosts the deterioration of your joint cartilage.
    • If you are obese and overweight, your chances of developing osteoarthritis are more. Hence, you should lose extra weight for improving the symptoms.
  4. Rest
    • Although exercise is important for keeping your joints and muscles healthy, you should avoid overdoing them.
    • Have a balanced lifestyle, and when your joints become achy or swollen, give them a break.
    • Abstain from using your swollen joint for at least 12 to 24 hours after experiencing them. Letting your injured joint rest helps in reducing your risk of osteoarthritis.
    • Fatigue increases pain in osteoarthritis patients, and hence you must sleep properly.
  5. Control your blood sugar
    • Diabetes is considered to be an important risk factor for osteoarthritis in aged individuals.
    • High glucose levels may boost the formation of molecules that make your cartilage stiff.
    • Diabetes also triggers inflammation, and promotes cartilage loss.
    • It is important for you to keep your diabetes and blood sugar levels under control for preventing osteoarthritis.

In spite of no specific cure for osteoarthritis, there are several ways of preventing and managing its symptoms. It is very important for you to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet, and also to try and keep away from becoming obese.

kindl get an MRI done of your spine to make out the possible causes. Secondly take breaks off your routine of sitting for hours together in a chair. Reduce the weight by 5 to 6 kg. Do massage with mahanarayana oil over the back area. Take Powder of ashwagandha and arjun in equal quantity, mix them well and take with a glass of hot milk, 1 tsf , 1 hr after meals, twice a day.Take mahayogaraja guggal, 2 tabs, thrice a day after meals with warm water. Continue the regime for 2 months. Give rest to your back and reduce your weight to prevent the problem getting worse & recurrence of pain. Good luck

1.Take crocin 500mg one tablet sos after food upto a maximum of 3 tablets daily 2.Apply volini gel twice daily 3.Give local hot fomentation 4. Take rest If you have recurrent attack of neck pain a)Take X ray cervical spine to exclude spondylitis and consult orthopedic specialist b)Sometimes It could be due to bad sitting posture while reading or working on computer. For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

My mom caused by severe pain in hip. She can't walk after 15 min. She can't stand more than 10 min. ortho doctor suggested a belt Or surgery. Is there any other way to avoid surgery. She taking sugar tablets.

Do take ift and vacuum therapy physiotherapy treatment for pain relief for 12 days followed by strengthening exercise from neuro physiotherapist use firm hard and even mattress for sleep do revert to me for further assistance best wishes.

It might be of muscle strain or of pathological reasons do consult neuro physiotherapist and take ift and laser therapy for 12 days of 15 minutes duration each followed by spinal extension exercise.

Before few days, while dancing (almost after 2 years) I did back lean/back drop, that time I felt nothing, but next morning I was not able to bend backwards and it was paining on my full back. Why a foot wear is so essential ?
We all have different foot prints. So depending on the footprints body posture muscle weakness (lower body musculature) hip , knee and core muscles can be determined.
I would request you to take foot prints of your feet and let me know.

Types of foot prints

Normal
Flat foot/pes planus
Pes cavus

It is very difficult to explain a patient that how disturbed foot prints are responsible for their knee pain, back pain neck pain.

Let's understand in this way- the more correct posture we will have , more correctly we land on our foot will result in less abnormal adaptation and will lead to a healthy body free of pain.

So an experienced Physio will diagnose the root cause of your problem and will help you to correct your biomechanics.
