Try massaging your nail with olive oil everyday. You can also rub lemon peel sometimes to improve nail health. Make sure your diet is rich in protein, calcium, zinc etc.

Hi, I am 24 male recently got married with my girlfriend (age 35), 1. I want to know is this OK to mary with high age of girl or what are the effects that occur in our life due to such age difference? 2. We are planning for sexual intercourse at our honeymoon, but we are very scared of pain when hymen breaks. Can she bear that pain and we continue with sex at same time and what can we do on immediate basis if pain increases in such situation? Is there any first aid that we should carry with us at our honeymoon? Please help me with all the answers. Thank you!

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Delhi
Hello. Congratulations to the both of you for your marriage. Age of partners should not be the defining character of any relationship. With the age difference you have mentioned there may be some issues that may arise but worrying about those is not required. You and your wife as a unit will be able to handle all the issues. Pain and bleeding due to rupture of hymen is a natural process. No specific precautions are required for this. The pain and bleeding reduce on their own. Excessive apprehension about the same will only increase your anxiety. Regards.

Which foods, fruits, vegetables, and non vegetarian increases metabolism in body?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician, Alappuzha
Which foods, fruits, vegetables, and non vegetarian increases metabolism in body?
All fruits and food increase metabolism Cinnamon Without going into the whole scientific explanation of why it works, adding 1/4 to 1 teaspoon of this spice to something you eat every day — hot cereal, marinades, yogurt — helps blood sugar get into cells to be used for energy, so less is stored as fat. Green Tea One ingredient, caffeine, is a stimulant that raises your heart rate and compels your system to burn calories faster. Plus, green tea has catechins, substances that some experts believe help burn belly fat. Aim for three 8-ounce cups a day. Yogurt Yeah, dairy has a bad rep for high calories, but yogurt, both the low-fat and regular kinds, contains probiotics: "friendly" bacteria that preliminary research suggests may actually help reduce the amount of fat your body absorbs. Coffee Again, the caffeine kicks your metabolism into high gear. Caffeine also jump-starts lipolysis, the breakdown of fat. One to two cups a day is ideal. Chili Peppers Often found in high quantities in hot salsa as well as in many Thai, Indian, and Chinese curry dishes, these wonder foods are packed with a metabolism-boosting compound called capsaicin, which provides chili peppers' fiery flavor. In addition, capsaicin increases your body temperature somewhat, giving your metabolism an extra calorie-burning push. Chicken and Fish It actually takes energy to digest food, and your body burns more calories digesting and metabolizing protein than it does while breaking down carbs and fats. Translation: Consuming a few servings of lean protein, such as chicken, fish, and tofu, each day may help keep your metabolism revving away long after you finish eating your meal.

Ma'am, I have type 2 diabetes and my father too. Will that affect to my 1 year baby? What precaution do I take for my baby? Is that required to do blood test of my baby?

A baby 1 year old is most likely to have type 1 diabetes. If you are concerned about this, talk to the pediatrician. However, in case you are worried only about whether your baby will develop diabetes, here's the answer: yes, your baby has an inherited risk of type 2 diabetes, as both you & your father are diabetics. Bring up your baby in a healthy manner, feeding him/her with fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, etc. Inculcate healthy eating habits now itself. Encourage him/her to be physically active. Begin any form of sport training at the right age & see to it that he/she doesn't become overweight/obese. Keep them away from alcohol, tobacco & habit forming drugs. Thus, the risk can be reduced.
