Hi I am a girl of 19. How to control my hair falling. My hair was so thick but now a days my hair becoming very thin. Because of too much hair falling. How can I find new hair?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi. Let me tell you about hairfall. In layman's language, hairfall can be divided into 2 types - temporary hairfall and permanent (which is called as 'Hairloss' rather). In temporary hairfall, hair grows back again from the same hair root, but in case of permanent hairloss, may be because of formation of DHT (Di- Hydro -Testosterone) around hair root it gets choked up, subsequently affects the blood supply to the hair and thus hair root is lost forever. (There are different pattern and types of hairloss, because of different reasons like Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium, Scarring Alopecia, Traction Alopecia, etc.) Causes of hairloss: Many factors are responsible formation of this DHT or male/ female pattern baldness - hereditary, post-illness/ ailment, post-delivery, post- chemotherapy, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, insufficient sleep, sudden loss of weight, stress/ tensions/ excessive anger, use of bore water, any other underlying diseases, etc. Management: Take diet rich in protein like non-veg., eggs, pulses, legumes, sprouts, nuts (sp. walnut and almonds), iron-rich food like green vegetables, also take flaxseeds, green tea, soyabean, fruits, salads, etc. Take proper 6-9hrs of sound sleep. Give up the habit of smoking and excessive alcohol intake. Avoid junk food and any kind of beverages (tea, coffee, aerated drinks, cold drinks, etc.) Avoid canned/ tinned food or food that contains preservatives (eat fresh ones). Avoid use of hard water to wash the head rather use boiled water for head wash. Avoid use of harsh hair colour, hair treatment like rebonding, straightening, perming, etc. Avoid vigorous exercises or any supplements provided by the gym! Use Rose wood/ any wooden hair comb to brush your hair. Regular exercising is also one of the important point, but should be done under some good, qualified yoga teacher or instructor for proper guidance; it also releases the stress/ tension in the mind and the body and keeps you FIT and YOUNG!! Medication: Take homoeopathic Rx - Schwabe's Wiesbaden 200 & Alfalfa Tonic twice a day for 1 month and revert. Also, use Schwabe's Arnica shampoo and Hair Growth oil regularly as per the condition of your scalp (minimum 3 times a week). After shampooing, use Bakson's Arnica Hair conditioner as well after every head wash. Apart from thistake Follihair tablets (multivitamin) - 1 tab. daily once for 1 month. Investigations advised: Get your blood tested for (empty stomach) - CBC, S. Iron, S. Folic acid, S. Ferritin, S. Calcium, S. Vitamin D3, S. Vitamin B12. If there is any family history of Thyroid dysfunction, get Thyroid function test done as well.

Hair Transplantation

Hair transplant has revolutionised the treatment of hair loss. There are two methods. Recent advances have made it a permanent, guaranteed treatment. It involves taking hair from the back of scalp area and planting it on the bald area. It is a scarless and stitchless method done under local anaesthesia. It is a simple procedure of four to five hours. The transplanted hairs start growing in two months and the entire process of growth is completed in 6 - 8 months. Eyebrows and beard area can also be transplanted. The hairs on scar area can also be grafted.

I had pimples, acne and blackspot on my face. I was try lots of cream, medicine, homeopathic treatment but not get positive result kindly give me some tips to prevent it.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Hyderabad
The eruption of pimples, acne, black heads, black spots, scars, pores and oily face are due to excessive sebum secreted by sebaceous glands and hair follicles especially on the face. Precautions- * Don't scratch or pinch your pimples. This will cause more damage---scars and black spots. * Avoid fried and oily foods. * Prefer fruits and green vegetables. * When you apply any cream, sun screen and the like, clean your face at the earliest, so that there will be no adverse action of the chemicals on the delicate skin of face. *For your information, many skin creams (mostly fairness cream brands) are considered harmful and banned by Central Govt, Health ministry during March, 2016. The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) supported the ban. *Your skin ‘breaths’ through its pores which are not to be closed for long. Blocking pores by creams may cause more pimples. HOMOEOPATHIC medicines are taken internally. Hence, NO DIRECT CONTACT with your delicate and sensitive skin, thereby no problem of skin allergy. Homoeopathy has good treatment without causing adverse effects. The medicines work internally, tackle the root of the problem unlike face cream which is a surface treatment. Take Antim crd 200—once daily in the morning.

Top 10 Superfoods to Make Your Skin Glow This Winter

Ayurveda, Hapur
Top 10 Superfoods to Make Your Skin Glow This Winter
Top 10 Superfoods to Make Your Skin Glow This Winter

1. Olive Oil

Olive oil is good for your skin, especially during the winter when the skin tends to become drier. Being rich in vitamins A and E as well as several other minerals and natural fatty acids, it helps hydrate the skin to maintain its elasticity and softness.

It also prevents skin aging, the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and protects the skin from free radical damage.
•Before taking a bath, rub warm olive oil over your face, the backs of your arms, your elbows and your knees. Massage gently for a few minutes, then take a warm bath. Afterward, pat your skin dry and wipe away the excess oil. Your skin will become amazingly soft and smooth.
•Also, use extra-virgin olive oil in salad dressings and cooking.

2. Grapefruit

Grapefruit contains vitamin C, an antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage. It also has lycopene that helps keep your skin smooth.

The potassium present in it can prevent wrinkles and age spots as well as protect the skin against harmful UV sunrays. The amino acids in grapefruit make your skin more firm and soft.

Plus, the unique phytochemical known as naringin in grapefruit reduces toxins in the liver, which results in healthier skin.
•Drink fresh grapefruit juice on a regular basis during the winter.
•You can also prepare a face mask with grapefruit and use it once a week. Mix the juice of ½ grapefruit, 1 tablespoon of honey and ½ cup of oatmeal powder. Apply it to your face, allow it to dry and then wash it off with lukewarm water. This face mask will provide smooth texture and natural radiance to your skin.

3. Avocado

You can also soothe dry winter skin with avocados. Being a good source of vitamins A, C and E along with monounsaturated fats, avocados help your skin lock in moisture. Also, this fruit contains folic acid, magnesium and potassium, which are all essential for healthy skin.

Plus, they help give your skin a more youthful look by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
•In addition to eating avocados, you can make a hydrating face mask with the fruit. Scoop the flesh out of a ripe avocado and mash it properly. Mix in 1 teaspoon each of honey and olive oil. Apply this smooth paste on your face. Allow it to dry, then rinse it off with warm water. Use this face mask a few times a week.
•Avocado oil is highly moisturizing for dull, dehydrated and itchy winter skin. You can use this oil to massage your body before taking a bath.

4. Carrots

Carrots are loaded with vitamin A and other antioxidants that can keep your skin healthy, vibrant and glowing even during the harsh winter days. They can also prevent signs of aging like wrinkles, pigmentation and an uneven skin tone.

Plus, carrots contain the carotenoids beta-carotene and lycopene that help protect your skin against UV damage. Being rich in potassium, they also help solve the problem of dry skin.
•Drinking a glass of carrot juice daily is a great way to keep your skin hydrated from within.
•You can also make a moisturizing face mask with carrots. Mix 2 teaspoons of pureed carrots, 1 teaspoon each of honey and milk cream, and a few drops of olive oil. Apply it on your clean face. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it off will cold water. Use this face mask a few times a week to enjoy soft, glowing and moisturized skin.

5. Broccoli

Broccoli is another healthy vegetable for your skin. It is packed with skin-boosting ingredients like vitamins A and C as well as natural estrogens that can do wonders for your skin.

While vitamin C stimulates collagen production to keep the skin healthy, vitamin A protects the skin cell membranes and prevents skin damage due to sun exposure.

Plus, the B vitamins in broccoli help get rid of dry, flaky patches, one of the most common skin problems that people have during the cold winter days.

Regularly eat broccoli to give your complexion a beautiful natural glow. Opt for steamed, roasted or blanched broccoli to get the most benefits from it.

6. Almonds

Almonds contain powerful antioxidants that can do wonders for your skin, especially during the dry and cold winter days. They are also a good source of vitamin E that helps nourish your skin and protect it from the sun’s damaging UV rays.

These nuts also contain many anti-aging properties that help reduce wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of aging.
•Before taking a bath, massage your body with either almond oil or almond milk. This will help you enjoy a remarkably glowing and radiant complexion.
•You can also use almonds to make a homemade scrub. Soak a handful of almonds in water overnight. The next morning, remove the peels and grind them. Add some milk or yogurt to form a paste. Use it as a facial scrub 1 or 2 times a week.

7. Spinach

When it comes to healthy skin, you cannot ignore the benefits offered by spinach. This dark green vegetable has many nutrients needed for healthy skin cells and to fight the skin’s natural aging process.

Spinach has high vitamin A content, an antioxidant that keeps your skin healthy and improves skin tone. Another antioxidant, vitamin C, helps repair skin cells and keeps your skin looking beautiful.

Also, spinach is an excellent source of iron. Iron deficiency can leave you with pale-looking skin along with frail health. Spinach also has lutein that protects the skin from sun damage.

8. Green Tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants that fight free radical damage to your skin. This can prevent dryness and flaky skin as well as improve your complexion. Plus, the polyphenols in green tea can prevent and reduce signs of premature aging like wrinkles, age spots and saggy skin.
•You can simply splash cool green tea on your face and then rinse your face with cool water.
•To make a gentle exfoliating mask at home, mix the contents of a used green tea bag with a little honey to make a paste. Apply it on your clean face, leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off. Do this once or twice a week.
•Lastly, do not forget to drink 2 to 3 cups of green tea daily.

9. Salmon

To have beautiful glowing skin during the winter months, you must include salmon in your diet. Its high amount of omega-3 fatty acids nourishes from within. This helps maintain plumpness and moisture even when exposed to skin-drying winter winds and central heating.

Plus, it has selenium, a mineral that protects the skin from harmful UV rays. In addition, the zinc in salmon stimulates the production of new skin cells.

Eat 2 servings of salmon weekly. Instead of fried salmon dishes, opt for grilled or baked salmon to enjoy smooth, clear and glowing skin.

10. Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate, especially that with at least 70 percent cocoa content, is considered good for your skin. It is rich in flavonols that can help your skin look its best even during the harsh conditions of the winter season.

Flavonols are antioxidants that help your skin protect itself from UV damage, fight free radicals, keep skin soft and supple, and increase blood flow.
•Eat just 2 to 3 ounces of dark chocolate weekly to reap the benefits of glowing and beautiful skin.
•You can also add glow to dull skin with a dark chocolate face mask. Melt a bar of dark chocolate in a double boiler. Mix in 1 teaspoon each of gram flour and milk cream along with a little lemon juice. Apply it all over your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. Use this face mask once a week.

Causes Behind Hair Fall

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Dermatologist, Delhi
Causes Behind Hair Fall

It is common to shed around 50 hair in a day but when this dramatically changes to 150+ a day, you need to take action as quickly as possible. Hair loss can occur in men and women at any age. It can be a temporary phenomenon or an ongoing one and be caused by a range of reasons like change of environment, shampoo, genetic problems, health problems and more.

Can you identify with the following causes?

  1. Steroids - The use of steroids by individuals who suffer from male pattern baldness can significantly increase their chance of hair fall. This happens as the usage causes an increase in the dihydrotestosterone hormones, which is responsible for hair loss.
  2. Antibiotics - Taking antibiotics can have an adverse effect on your hair follicle. It decreases the levels of hemoglobin in your blood as well as minerals and vitamins stores in your cells. When this happens, it accelerates your hair fall rate.
  3. Smoking - Smoking can cause you to lose a significant amount of hair. Several studies suggest that smokers have a higher chance of going bald, with individuals who have a history of this condition in the family being more prone than others. Smoking causes the blockage of pores on the scalp surface, thereby reducing blood flow to the scalp. The effects of smoking on hair include poor hair quality and subsequent degradation. Smoking also brings about the early graying of your hair.
  4. Cancer - Cancer also affects your hair quality and causes you to become bald or thins out your hair. It's the radioactive rays in chemotherapy that causes your hair to fall out at a faster rate. Many a time, hair is also lost from the eye area, armpit, and pubic areas. The loss of hair generally starts within 2-4 weeks following the commencement of the treatment. The hair loss rate could be in clumps or little by little.

My face is so oily and I want oil free skin and glow on my face so what can I do for it?

I am Aditi. 17 years old 80 kgs and 155 cm height. I am facing hair fall from 1 year as well as dandruff and my scalp is also oily due to which I had to wash my hair after every 2 days. My hair are thin and short. .what should I do to make my hair thick and long.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Do not use shampoo and apply coconut oil and only dry excess oil if any without soap or shampoo In order to have healthy volume of hair on your head, the rate of hair loss and replacement should be in tandem. With age, your hair growth cycle shows signs of slowing down and factors like age, disease, and hormonal changes among others affect the pace at which an individual hair follicle moves through the 3 phases of the hair cycle. A disruption in your hair cycle can give rise to loss of hair that’s rapid and unexpected. Hair loss or alopecia can affect both men and women. So what can cause your hair to fall at an alarming rate? The reasons behind hair loss could be many, but here are 6 major ones: 1. Lack of protein in your diet When you exclude protein from your diet, your body starts to conserve the protein that it has by altering the growth cycle of your hair. In such cases, your hair enters into the resting stage, resulting in zero hair growth. In India, 9 out of 10 people are said to suffer from low amounts of protein in their diet, with 91% vegetarians reporting protein deficiency. 2. Iron deficiency Iron plays a very important role in the transportation of oxygen to the different organs of the body. Lack of iron in your diet (which is the principle reason behind anaemia) can give rise to several health problems including hair loss. Your body attempts to direct oxygen to important organs so as to support their functioning. As a result, your scalp witnesses a low supply of oxygen, which causes hair loss. 3. Vitamin D-3 deficiency Deficiency of vitamin D-3 gives rise to a type of hair loss called Telogen Effluvium (TE). This is a temporary hair thinning phenomenon that takes place when the all the hair on your scalp enter the resting phase at the same time, subsequently causing you to shed a large amount of hair later on. 4. Smoking Smoking can also affect the health of your hair, especially the rate at which it falls and the number of strands lost in a day. A research carried out by the Harvard School of Public Health has revealed that smoking can cause a rise in a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). An increase in DHT level prevents new hair cells from growing and causes hair follicles to reduce in size with each hair cycle. As a result, the area on your scalp that gets affected by DHT experiences a lack of hair growth. 5. Use of testosterone supplements in gym Intake of testosterone in the form of supplements and injections to build muscle mass can trigger hair loss in men. This takes place when the testosterone in these supplements gets changed into DHT, thereby affecting your hair loss rate and amount. 6. Past illnesses (dengue, TB and typhoid) Falling of hair can also be brought on by illnesses such as typhoid, TB and dengue as the hair growth cycle comes to a stop. Hormonal or metabolic stress that is experienced during the course of such diseases may cause hairfall. What are the treatments available to cure hair loss? 1. Hair transplant Hair transplant is a minimally invasive surgical technique that transfers hair follicles taken from other parts of your body to the balding area. Known by the name of Follicular Unit Transplantation, this hair loss treatment can help to bring back the natural appearance of a fuller head of hair. Hair follicles are harvested using two procedures- follicular unit extraction and strip harvesting. Procedure can vary from 4-8 hours or more depending on the case. 2. Platelet- Rich Plasma (PRP) Platelet- Rich Plasma (PRP) is another treatment alternative that can reverse hair loss. It’s a simple non-surgical procedure that lasts about 60-90 minutes. In this form of hair treatment, the patient’s own blood cells, more specifically blood platelets are injected into the scalp. Usually 8 sittings are required with each sitting being 2 weeks apart for better results. 3. Low Level Laser (Light) Therapy (LLLT) This form of hair therapy utilises light energy of a specific wavelength and threshold to stimulate cellular activity, thereby promoting hair growth. Various controlled clinical tests have revealed its effectiveness in encouraging hair growth in both the genders.

Flaunting a fair and flawless complexion is everyone's dream. There are many readymade fairness creams that can lighten your complexion instantly. However, if you want healthy, fair and glowing skin, then you need to work hard and have patience follow the ctm (cleansing, toning and moisturizing) routine daily exfoliate your skin at least twice a week. This will help to remove the dead cells and open pores, thus lightening your skin tone always use sunscreen 20 minutes before stepping out from home. A good sunscreen with spf 40 will help to prevent tan in the indian climate drink adequate amount of water to keep your body and skin hydrated. A good sleep at night is also very important for healthy and glowing skin. Indulge in home remedies like face packs and scrub for natural fairness fruit pack: fruits can work wonders for your skin and also provide you with naturally glowing skin. Prepare a fruit pack by combining the pulp of an avocado, papaya and cucumber. Then add 2 teaspoons of cream or malai. Mix well to form a paste and apply all over the face. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. People with oily or combination skin can avoid adding cream, they can add multani mitti instead into the pack papaya: papaya fruit contains an enzyme called papain that helps to exfoliate the skin, and this makes way for new skin cells to emerge. Papaya also contains vitamin c. Choose a green papaya to make your face mask, papain is most concentrated in a green papaya. To make a papaya mask peel and slice the papaya put it in a blender to make a smooth paste apply it on your skin and leave it for 20 minutes rinse it away with warm water. Any queries inform me.
