I adopted a 3 months old male Labrador puppy. It is having loose motions now n one episode of vomiting. It is completely vaccinated for first year. I changed its diet from pedigree to home cooked vegetarian food without any spices. What could be the reason?

Sudden food change can be one ofbthe reson of stomach upset. Apart from this othet reason are stomach or inyestine infection, worms or eating unsual things. Kindly get your puppy examined from vet and follow his advice.

Hi, what is the age of your dog? if it is active you dont worry about weight of the dog. Give good food which he likes and deworm regularly.

Can you elaborate how are symptoms of breathing problem. Also share what is the breed and does his/ her breather rate increase v high after exercise or at night or any particular time of day. Is would be better if you can share video clip while showing signs of breathing problem.

I have black Labrador female dog she is of 6 months she is not gaining weight what I should feed him and how much?

MVSc
Veterinarian, Darjeeling
Well, go for deworming first with suitable dewormer and liver tonic. Give oral calcium, phosphorus, vit d supplientation (like ostopet syrup etc.) and multivitamin with minerals tonic (syrup a to z) and a digestion booster containing essential enzymes. Give balanced diet of proper quantity. Give it plenty of water to drink. Grow a habit of little exercise daily. You will surely notice the difference.

If a dog sits in wet sand outside in summers in India then can it (sitting in wet sand) be harmful to dog? Dog is kept outside only.

B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc.-Pathology
Veterinarian, Bangalore
It can be a problem if it is left out for a prolonged duration. Once the normal skin coat is damaged it can lead to other complications.

I want to know about 15 months German Shepherd feed and the health problems which may cause. Thank you.

MVSc (Ph.D pursuing)
Veterinarian, Hyderabad
15 months old German shepherd can be considered as an adolescent. they are now prone for hip joint problems like osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia and degenerative joint diseases. this can be prevented by avoiding their kennel or staying place on slippery floors like marbles and tiles. And by making sure they get a complete balanced diet containing ample amount of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids with minerals like calcium and phosphorus. they are also prone for gastrointestinal problems like inflammatory bowel disease and pancreatitis. this can be prevented by giving them hypoallergenic diets of various brands. eg. royal canine and Hill's. recently in India, there has been a subtle outbreak of tick fever in dogs. hairy breeds like German shepherds should be given extra care for proper and regular tick control medications life long to avoid such deadly diseases.
