Know The 7 Reasons Why Japanese Live Longer!

Know The 7 Reasons Why Japanese Live Longer!

Japan had the biggest mortality turn around post the world War 2 era. It has consistently topped the global charts in terms of living a longer and healthy life as compared to people of other countries. Although there is no one reason for this, scientists believe that there is a host of factors which has helped Japan to achieve this feat.

  1. Vegetable intake: The Japanese unlike the countries in the West consume a lot of fresh vegetables, seaweed means, fermented soy, rice, and fish. It ensures adequate phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals. The eating habit surely adds the extra mileage as far as mortality is concerned.
  2. Different style of cooking: Typically, the preparation of Japanese cuisine involves a lot of steaming, fermenting, slow-cooking, pan-grilling and stir-frying. Apart from this, the Japanese prepare small dishes and have the habit of drinking a bowl of soup before every meal. When a small amount of all vegetables along with rice and fish is consumed daily, the body gets enough fibre.
  3. The tea culture: The tea drinking culture of Japan goes a long way in fighting diseases owing to its anti-bacterial properties. While coffee doesn’t harm our body, tea varieties such as matcha are far more useful for the body.
  4. Fresh Food: Japan is one of the few countries where people consume serious fresh food. Japanese are one of the fortunate one who eat their food hours after production. The vast amount of arable land and not so big population helps the demand and supply to be in the balance. The fresh food helps the body to produce more energy and be active throughout the day.
  5. Smaller plates: Portion control and etiquette are a big part of the Japanese culture. They eat from small pots, use chopsticks, garnish their food lightly, serve food in small dishes etc. Japanese never eat until they are too full to walk. Typically, Japanese eat till they are 8 percent full. This helps in easy digestion and more agility.
  6. More body activity: Japanese loves to commute in public transport. They get up, go to their nearest station, wait for the train, stand in the train and walk to their workplace from the station. Although there are ample nuber of cars in the country using it is considered to be a luxury. Japanese also get a wake-up call for exercise every morning. This results in an increased level of energy, more focus at the workplace and better athleticism.
  7. Healthcare: Japanese have got a full proof healthcare from the year 1960. They visit their doctors more than a dozen times a year. This is 4 times as compared to their US counterpart. What’s fascinating is the fact that it costs the Japanese Government only 8 percent of the GDP. It goes without saying that Japanese get to know about any probable diseases that they might have well before any damage could happen.

Helo doc. I am really worried about my virginity. I did not had sex and I did not used any tampon etc. But I could not see hymen. Whenever I see I only see a white thing covered. Where is my hymen? How does it look.

An intact hymen does it prove virginity neither does an absence prove loss of virginity. Hymen may get to enjoy due to physical exercise also. So that should not make you worry about your virginity. As long as you did not have penetrative sex, you can all yourself a virgin

Garlic - Benefits Of It!

Although a vegetable, garlic is primarily classified as a spice and is used in many dishes across cultures. However, apart from the pungent smell which is the most known characteristic of garlic, it also has medicinal properties and thus, was even used by healers for various ailments before the advent of modern medicine.

Some of the reasons garlic is considered healthy:
Garlic is considered healthy for a multitude of reasons. Let's look at some of the ailments that garlic can prevent as well as help in healing.

  1. Great Against Common Cold: Garlic and garlic based homemade treatments are great ways to ward off the common cold. Garlic contains the chemical "allicin" which is known to aid health within the body. Having a few cloves or garlic can help you fight the common cold infection.
  2. It is Known to Improve Bone Health: Garlic is known to be very beneficial for bone health, especially in menopausal women. Women may encounter bone loss during menopause as the production of estrogen is lowered. Garlic encourages estrogen production which can stop bone loss and even protect against bone problems such as osteoarthritis.
  3. Is an effective agent in Lowering Blood Pressure: Hypertension is a known killer all across the world. Garlic contains polysulfides which are effective in vasodilation or the widening of the blood vessels and also relaxation of the muscles. This helps blood pressure being lowered within the body and is an effective home remedy if consumed in controlled amounts.
  4. Reduces Fatigue and is a Performance Enhancer: Garlic is known to reduce fatigue within people as it controls the heart rate by lowering blood pressure. Whether it is an athletic performance or other physical work related performance requirements, this spice tends to give an extra boost.
  5. Controls LDL Cholesterol, thereby reducing chances of Heart Disease: LDL cholesterol, also known as bad cholesterol, is controlled by allicin as it improves liver functions. The liver can then break down LDL cholesterol easily and thus also helps in preventing arteriosclerosis. Garlic is also known to prevent blood clots that lead to heart attacks.
  6. Garlic has anti-parasitic and anti-bacterial properties: Garlic has been known throughout the ages to be an effective anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic agent. Garlic extracts or small amounts of garlic in your diet can help you build up immunity and also kill infections within your system effectively. It is also known to be very effective against tapeworm infestations within the gut. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an Ayurveda.

Hi doctor am a female age 28 yrs. I have been having pain in my underarms since many years (around 7-9 yrs). This pain is usually in the form of lumps in my underarms which gets more painful prior to my periods. However, the lumps still remain even after the period ends. Its like its always present. Since last year, I have been having severe neck and shoulder pain. I can feel and internal muscle crumbled up in my shoulder which causes acute pain when pressed hard. I have taken various medications, dry needling as well as physio therapy but the pain refuses to go away. I have checked for any signs in my breast, but they are painful only prior to my periods and pain goes away after 2-3 days of mensuration. However, this time my breasts are still tender and have slight pain even after the periods. Not in any lump form but generally tender and painful. Every morning my throat feels like I have little mucus (like during cough) which comes out when I freshen my mouth. I am a bit worried. Could this be something serious?

You had sex on 9th day of menstrual cycle which is relatively safe, you gave her unwanted 72 which has effectiveness around 90% in preventing pregnancy. So no need to worry about pregnancy.

Bleeding after taking emergency contraception is common and usual. Do a urine pregnancy test 3 weeks from the day of intercourse just to be on the safer side. Always use contraceptives like condoms during intercourse if you are not planning to start a family. Avoid taking the pill again and again.

Currently WHO recommends normal life span in HIV, so both of you start treatment early, you can live for decades. Apart from sex there are other methods of acquiring like blood transfusion, needles, etc. Still sexual contact is commonest, since your CD4 is less and viral load more, your wife might have got it from you.
