1. Ginger Ginger can help reduce inflammation of the blood vessels in the head, thus providing relief from a headache. •Mix equal parts of ginger juice and lemon juice. Consume it once or twice a day. •Another option is to apply a paste of one teaspoon of dry ginger powder, also called sonth, and two tablespoons of water on the forehead for a few minutes. •You can also boil ginger powder or raw ginger in water, and inhale the vapor. •Chew one or two pieces of crystallized ginger candy. 2. Mint Juice Menthol and menthone are the primary components of mint which are very effective in alleviating headaches. Extract mint juice from a handful of mint leaves and apply it on forehead and temples to treat headache. You can also place mint tea compresses on the forehead to relieve discomfort. Along with mint juice, corainder juice is also effective in treating headaches. 3. Peppermint Oil Peppermint contains menthol that helps open up clogged blood vessels that cause headaches. It also has calming and soothing effects. •Mix three drops of peppermint essential oil in one tablespoon of almond oil, olive oil or just water. Massage your forehead and temples with it. Or, you can put crushed fresh peppermint leaves on your forehead. •Alternatively, you can prepare a steam treatment by adding a few drops of peppermint essential oil to a small pot of boiling water. Inhale the steam for a few minutes. 4. Basil Basil works as a muscle relaxant, making it a helpful treatment for mild headaches caused by tense muscles. Plus, it has calming and analgesic effects. •Put three or four fresh basil leaves in a cup of boiling water and let it simmer for a few minutes. Optionally, add a little honey and then sip the tea slowly. •You can also boil one tablespoon of basil leaves or a few drops of basil oil to a pot of boiling water and carefully lean over the pot to take in the steam. •Alternatively, chew some fresh basil leaves or massage your forehead with basil oil mixed with a base oil. 5. Lavender Oil Simply smelling the soothing scent of lavender essential oil can be of great help in relieving tension headaches. Research suggests that it can also help improve migraine symptoms. •Put a few drops of lavender essential oil on a tissue and inhale it. You can also add two drops of lavender oil to two cups of boiling water and inhale the steam. •Another option is to mix two or three drops of lavender essential oil in one tablespoon of carrier oil such as almond oil or olive oil and massage your forehead with it. Note: Do not take lavender oil orally. 6. Ice Pack The cold from ice helps reduce inflammation that contributes to headaches. Plus, it has a numbing effect on the pain. •Applying an ice pack to the back of your neck can give you relief from a migraine headache. •You can also place a washcloth dipped in ice-cold water over your head for five minutes. Repeat the process several times.

Hi this could be due to stress- personal or workplace stress. You need to identify that. If their is any cognitive overload. You would need to manage time and schedule your activities likewise. Take frequent breaks. The head ache can be due to same reason. You can try breathing exercises. Since you are already taking balance diet and exercising its really commendable. Do let me know the actual situation you are in.

You need to divert yourself to some work and keep yourself busy. The more busy you will be, your body will automatically get tired which will help you to sleep better. Don't think too much, and have warm milk before retiring to bed.

You are certainly into a depression. You could be in an anger related and this emotion, if not expressed turns inward causing the depression. Anger is energy and when this turns against you, it stifles the natural energy to make you feel tired, dull, listless and lethargic. If someone irritates you even slightly, you can easily flare-up. Then the vicious circle is for you to feel guilty and get angrier with yourself: more the depression. You have to get along with people especially in a profession like teaching! You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, and wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch a lot of sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. I hope you can find someone to love and be loved too. Whatever happens please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. The bottom line is to deal with the anger. Do visit a counselor to help you and on that person’s recommendation you may visit a doctor too.

What I have to do in stress?
Dear, Stress is simply a reaction to a stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental equilibrium. In other words, it's an omnipresent part of life. A stressful event can trigger the ?fight-or-flight? response, causing hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to surge through the body. A little bit of stress, known as ?acute stress,? can be exciting?it keeps us active and alert. But long-term, or ?chronic stress,? can have detrimental effects on health. You may not be able to control the stressors in your world, but you can alter your reaction to them. I need to know, what are the causes with which you are stressed? Once you know the reason, you will be able to adjust with it with some tips and tricks. Please let me know the details. Take care.

Dear lybrate user, your son might be having some health issues. There can be many reasons for not having solid food. If he is having any difficulty in digesting the food, then he will not be hungry also. Please do not force him to eat. Kindly take him to a doctor. If there is no physical problem, then you might have to look into his emotional needs. Talk to him about himself, school, his friends, his games, hobbies etc. If he is not happy about something, he will be able to share that with you, which ultimately will lift up his mood and make him more active and energetic and then he might start having food on his own. Pursuade him to play physical (not computer games) games of his choice.

Dear lybrate user. Welcome to lybrate. I can understand. Loosing someone near and dear is called grief and depression related to grief is pretty normal. But this sort of depression does not stay for long. This depression gets cleared within a span of some weeks. The best option for you is to undergo counseling and depression related therapy. Anyhow, there is nothing to worry. Most of the psychological problems can be cured with scientific therapy methods. Take care.

Please help me. I am very worried. Help me.
Depression is a state of mind, your doctor needs to understand your problems and factors responsible for depression. Depression is like boiling milk in a vessel. When milk starts boiling you either need to stop the flame or remove the vessel rather than taking milk out of the vessel to prevent spiling. similarly your doctor needs to talk to you and understand what is bothering you and that will also help in chalking out the right treatment. Above all stop caring about things which are bothering you, when you can not control go with the flow keep on doing your work, nothing is permanent, this situation will also pass the only thing remain will be the result of your efforts. so just motivate yourself and see a qualified doctor for mental physical and spiritual health. Homoeopathy is good at it. Wish you a speedy recovery..

Hard Time Making Friends? These Tips Will Help You Initiate Friendship

Friendship is the fuel that keeps life interesting. Imagine a robotic life where you do not have anyone with whom you can chill or unwind at the end of the day. Friends are people with whom you can be yourself without having to worry about needs and requirements or judgements, at least most of the time. They are the layer that lies between your family and the rest of the world and provide you with a balance of sorts as far as insights, outsider perspective, advice for meeting challenges and unadulterated enjoyment go.

But many times, extreme shyness and an introvert nature can stop people from making friends easily. So how can you initiate friendships and keep them close? Here are a few tips!

1. Understand Shyness: First of all, understand why you may be shy and how it makes your brain work. Shyness strips you of your security when you are faced with a new place or face. Also, it can lead to dismissive or avoidant behaviour, which keeps us from approaching people and learning more about them. Also, it keeps us anxious and preoccupied and makes us think that we will be met with rejection if we try to initiate friendship. Sounds vaguely familiar? Read on to know more.

2. Eye Contact and First Impressions: The first way to initiate a new friendship is by making eye contact and following it up with a smile before the person in question averts his or her gaze. This is an unspoken language that is almost always answered similarly.

3. Greeting: You can now approach the person and start by saying hello. It may be someone whom you have been seeing on your way to class or in the office cafeteria or even someone who lives in your building. So chances are, that this person would have noticed you too. Introduce yourself and ask for the person's name.

4. Acknowledgement: Use the person's name often to show that you are acknowledging the friendship and ensuring that a bond begins to settle between the two of you from the word go. Offer to introduce this new friend to your other friends as further acknowledge of this new friendship.

5. Information: In a new friendship, it is crucial to find common grounds without breaking the barriers of privacy. So ensure that you ask neutral questions about hobbies, family, education, work and other such issues without asking the when, where, what and how of things that might have to be explained by sharing personal details. In this way the person in front becomes more comfortable.

Be aware of the reasons that stop you and build your confidence when it comes to approaching people for friendship!

The proverbial exam fever is capable of causing a lot of stress. Stress is not a good indicator for studies. Because of your age you may have hormonal imbalances which may impact your memory because of the chemical but also the distractions that come with it. But you may work on the following even if the hormones kick in: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid junk food.
