You should not reason or relate your health issues. Rather than getting confuse and complicating your problems you should see a dentist. If you r having problem with height of teeth do not try absurd methods. It will never benefit this way rather than that it will only add to your worries. See a dentist get it resolved. Many technique's are available now a days. It could be fixed orthodontic treatment or removable appliance might be needed or just simple veneering might help. See a dentist first and improve your condition taking his help.

BDS, MDS
Dentist,
Your mouth is more than just a pretty smile. It's also a gateway to your overall health. Keeping that gateway clean may keep you healthier longer -- and looking younger. Proper dental care is essential throughout the life cycle, no matter what your age.

How much does it cost for braces. And regarding period of using it. I've already built up my teeth once. Does it have any effect on using braces.

BDS, MDS - Orthodontics, Certified Lingual Orthodontist , Certified Implantologist
Dentist, Gurgaon
Treatment cost and time depends on the malocclusion (type of deformity of teeth) and the type of braces it could metal, ceramic or even lingual (braces that are invisible and are placed behind the teeth) or aligners (treatment without braces)

My 3rd molar tooth is erupting from 1yr. I am not taking any medication regarding the inflammation (its not severe) or pain. Should I take it seriously or will it subside by time?

BDS
Dentist, Bhopal
You should go for an x-ray, then according to the position of your third molar go for surgical removal of the tooth, if the position is proper then you can wait and watch.

Reasons & Remedy for tooth senstivity

Post-Graduate Certificate in Oral Implantology (PGCOI), PG in Laser Dentistry, Basic Life Support (B.L.S), MDS Prosthodontics
Dentist, Gurgaon
Reasons & Remedy for tooth senstivity
On drinking cold water or a sip of tea or coffee makes you uneasy or eating ice-cream or yoghurt is a nightmare, you may have a common problem known as “sensitive teeth.”

Various causes of sensitivity in teeth include:

1. Forceful brushing of teeth – it is the most common cause of tooth sensitivity. It causes thinning of the protective layer on our teeth that is enamel. Enamel protects our teeth against insult from food or fluids we take. Loss of enamel leads to sensitivity of teeth

Remedy:
• Gentle brushing of teeth
• Use soft bristle brush
• Change brush after 3- 6 months ( as the bristles wear away)
• Use little toothpaste ( toothpaste has abrasive particles which causes
wear away of enamel)
• Do brushing in up-down movement

2. Tooth decay – caries in tooth leads to tooth sensitivity. Caries remove the protective enamel layer exposing dentine layer to food and fluids. Dentine carries nerves which causes sensitivity

Remedy: Treatment involves removal of tooth decay and placement of
protective barrier on dentine that is a filling material

3. Old tooth fillings – over a period of time fillings may crack or break or get removed which leads to sensitivity.

Remedy: Change of filling in tooth

4. Exposed tooth roots- as a result of aggressive tooth brushing, gum recession and gum disease. It causes tooth sensitivity.

Remedy
• Use soft bristle brush
• Visit your dentist for gum disease treatment

5. Plaque and calculus - the purpose of brushing is to remove plaque that forms after eating food. An excessive build-up of plaque can cause your enamel to wear away. Again, your teeth can become more sensitive as they lose their enamel protection.

Remedy: The solution is to practice good daily dental care and visit your
dentist for cleanings every six months.

6. Habit of eating acidic foods -fruits like lemon, sweet lime, pickles and tomato juice contains acid which can dissolve enamel of teeth. Frequent use of acidic food causes tooth sensitivity.

7. Habit of tooth-grinding – grinding also cause tooth sensitivity due to loss of enamel.

Tooth sensitivity is treatable. You must have seen toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. However, toothpaste can only help limited no. of patient’s suffering from tooth sensitivity.

If your sensitivity is extreme and persists no matter what you do, please visit your dentist for an oral examination. Visit to dental specialist can determine the most likely cause of your tooth sensitivity and the best solution for your particular condition. I Hope this article will help you.

If it's a tongue tie. Like a band attaching the tongue to the floor of the mouth. It can be easily corrected. Consult a dentist. Once we relieve the attachment and start with tongue exercises you will be fine.

I have yellow teeth for 3 days! what should I do? I am young college girl. and I am depress for this problem.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or capping. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I am 25 years old male. I had teeth problem from last 3 years back. So I got treatment (Root canal) while I was in my hometown (bangalore) at one the famous private polyclinic. Few weeks ago again I visited Dentist and she suggested to make root canal again for same teeth.. Even I got treatment (root canal) at saudi ARABIA. My questions are 1. Dr. every couple of years once I should get root canal? 2. I here thatvtreatment of saudi Arabian hospital is not good and it will be make side effects on future! Is this true? 3. What type of bless and tooth paste I should use?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
May need Re-root canal treatment only if the treated tooth is infected or treatment for adjacent teeth which might have been decayed. Otherwise root canal need not to be repeated again and again. It is the permanent solution for decayed tooth. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months. Changing the toothbrush alone donot keeps your teeth clean. All toothpaste have nearly similar ingredients like Abrasives, Fluorides, Surfactants, Antibacterial agents, Flavourants, Remineralizers, Fluoride, Diethylene glycol, Triclosan etc. Only the wrong brushing technique that we follow harms our teeth and gums. So consult your dentist, learn proper brushing technique, Brush your teeth twice a day, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush to protect your teeth and gums from plaque and calculus. Floss your teeth inter dentally once a day. Consume a healthy diet rich in vegetables and lean protein. Reduce your intake of sugary foods and beverages. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Drink plenty of fluoridated tap water. Drink not consume alcohol drinks. Don’t smoke.

Dental problem I have very yellow teeth. I dont like the colour I went to dentist, he said my colour of teeth is only yellow. How can this be even possible? What should i do to get whitter teeth?

Oral Implantologist (New York University), Advanced Aesthetic Oral & Dental Surgeon. BDS (India)
Dentist, Mumbai
Hii, There can be multiple reasons on why tooth colour is yellow ranging from heredity to medicine related & at times even because of mineral content in the water that we drink. We need to focus on the problem now rather than pondering over the reason. You can go in for bleaching or veneers. Bleaching will be comparatively cheaper than veneers but the whiteness attained will be temporary which will fade away in few months depending on the type of coloured food you eat & your oral hygiene habits. On the other hand veneers will be expensive comparatively but will improve your over all smile completely. Not only the colour of your tooth will become whiter but also any gaps or shape of your teeth can be changed to enhance your smile. These changes will be permanent.

I have a big gap between my front two teeth! I haven't visited any dentist yet, but my parents say I'll have to put braces which I do not want! Please help me what can I do to reduce the gap between my front two teeth!

PERIODONTIST, B.D.S.
Dentist, Navi Mumbai
For correction of this big gap you need braces treatment only. You have to visit a orthodontist for that. Don't worry if you are worried about your appearance, then there are various methods by which it doesn't look that bad. - you can select tooth colored braces - you can place braces on inner side so it won't be visible from front.

How to whiten the teeth as it is in pale yellow color. Tried many pastes whiten pastes but no change please suggest me how to whiten the teeth please.

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Ambala
Teeth have a natural color of their own and the color varies from patient to patient. If you have yellow teeth you can go for a procedure called bleaching that can again be of 2 types 1. Home bleach 2. Clinical bleach. Consult your dentist for the same. In home bleach you will be provided a kit and you have to bleach at the comfort of your home. In clinical bleach you will have to visit a dentist and get the treatment done. I hope this helps.

Calcium is one of your best friends when it comes to preventing tooth decay. This is especially true for growing children and those with dental issues. Dairy products ? be it milk, cheese, or yogurt ? are all good sources of calcium. The best part is, even skimmed milk or low-fat yogurt are as effective.

Other sources include almonds, broccoli, canned fish with bones, Brazil nuts, bok choy, and dried beans.
