How HIV/AIDS Is Transmitted?

How HIV/AIDS Is Transmitted?

No matter how much information there is available about AIDS and HIV, the thought of it makes a person shudder. The Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV is the virus responsible for AIDS or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. This virus attacks the immune system and over time leaves the body defenseless against other infections and types of cancer. Till date, there is no cure for HIV or AIDS. However, what we do know is how the disease can be transmitted from one person to another. Knowing this enables us to control the transmission of the disease.

Unlike other viruses, HIV cannot be transmitted through air, water etc. This virus can only be transmitted through:

  1. Blood: Receiving blood transfusions from an HIV positive person is sure to put you at risk of suffering from the disease as well. For this reason, it is essential to only take blood from registered blood banks that run HIV screening tests. This holds true for organ and tissue transplants as well. Being stuck with an HIV infected needle can also put you at risk of coming in contact the virus. In some cases, direct contact between broken skin, wounds and mucous membranes can also lead to the transferring of HIV cells from one person to another. HIV does not spread through saliva, however, if while kissing, both partners suffer from bleeding gums and one partner is HIV positive, there is a risk of the transference of HIV from one person to the other.
  2. Bodily fluids such as semen and vaginal fluids: The only way to prevent the transmission of the HIV virus from one partner to another while having intercourse is by using a condom. This creates a barrier between the bodily fluids of both partners and keeps them safe. A condom is needed even if the couple is engaging in anal sex. In fact when comparing anal and vaginal intercourse; anal sex puts HIV negative partners at a higher risk of getting in contact the virus than vaginal sex. Theoretically, this virus can be transmitted even through oral sex is a HIV positive man ejaculates into the woman's mouth. However, this is a rare occurrence.
  3. From a mother to an unborn child: A HIV positive mother can transmit the virus to her child when pregnant, at birth or while breastfeeding. However, if the mother follows HIV treatment, the chances of her passing on this virus to her child are significantly lowered.

The above are the only three ways HIV can be transferred from one person to another. HIV cannot be transmitted by sharing utensils, drinking the same water, through mosquito bites or by shaking hands etc. Thus, there is no reason to ostracize an HIV infected person. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a General Physician.

Any testicular lump needs medical attention, however small it may be. Because, at your age, testicular swelling is the most common type of swelling. But don't get afraid. It responds very well to treatment. And the earlier it is detected, the better is the result of treatment. Please don't suffer silently from embarrassment. Please consult and get it treated.

I suggest you get an ultra sound of whole abdomen to know the reason for pain. In the mean time do 1. Take 2/3 glass of warm water in the morning, take more water during day to get clear urine. 2. Avoid all spicy/ fried/ fast/ junk food 3. Go for morning walk for 10- 15 mts 4. Do deep breathing exercise for 10 mts rt. Try these, you will feel good good luck.

For HIV any test after 90 days of exposure is conclusive. But you also need to do HBV, hcv and VDRL tests. If hbv negative, take vaccines.

I do masturbation and it made my life in trouble I don't know how to control it please guide me hot to stop it I was ...
Hi, Before you make an attempt to stop masturbating, there’s an important issue to deal with first. This issue is important because masturbation is a misunderstood addiction. Masturbation is normal and not unhealthy. It only becomes a problem when one gets addicted to it and it starts affecting his functioning in different areas of his life. You can not suffer physically or mentally because of masturbation but you can suffer because of the thoughts or stress you take as a result of being addicted to it. The immense pleasure derived from frequent masturbation can be extremely addictive. However, this addiction can become an obsessive activity that interferes with daily living. Furthermore, it may result in loss of sex drive, depression, or even impotence. To prevent these potentially severe side effects, we will reveal the ten most effective ways to end chronic masturbation. 1. Rubber band Place a rubber band around your wrist. Every time you get the urge to masturbate, flick the rubber band. This will eventually condition you to associate masturbation with the pain, thereby deterring you from the act. The mere thought of masturbation may even cease to cross your mind. 2. Distraction When you get the urge to masturbate, quickly engage in an alternative activity. Whether you pick up a book or go to the movies with friends, participate in anything that will successfully distract you from your masturbatory desires. 3. Therapy Do not hesitate to admit that you need professional help. Therapists offer beneficial coping mechanisms to help overcome chronic masturbation. Beyond recommending daily tools to break the habit, they also provide a supportive environment for open communication. 4. Help from loved ones If you have a romantic partner, be open with them about your condition. This should remove any feelings of guilt or shame associated with chronic masturbation, as you will no longer have to hide a "dirty little secret" from your loved one. 5. Replace that pleasure with a different one Find other pleasurable activities that bring you joy. Find an enjoyable hobby that requires your full attention. For example, if you enjoy art take a painting class. 6. Jogging Jogging and other forms of exercise are a great way to take masturbation off your mind. Jogging will require your complete attention - from listening to your heartbeat to inhaling each new breath of fresh air. Masturbation will have no place on the forefront of your mind. So the more you engage in exercise, the less time you will have to think about masturbating. Eventually, you may be able to overcome your addiction. 7. Yoga Yoga is an extremely relaxing activity. It requires you to concentrate solely on breathing and posture. This newfound focus should prevent obsessive thoughts about masturbation. 8. Evaluate your life Analyze your life. Determine what makes you happy and what does not. You may find that something stressful in your life is causing this chronic masturbation. Elucidating the underlying stressor will enable you to resolve it, ultimately allowing you to overcome the addiction. 9. A new friend If your chronic masturbation is due to intimacy issues, consider purchasing a pet as a therapeutic measure. They will accept you for who you are without judgment. They will provide you the companionship you may need to stop masturbating. 10. Speed dating This is an alternative solution to intimacy problems. Speed dating is a fun way to get to know a diverse range of potential romantic partners, without the added pressure of traditional dating. This can be a fun and effective way to ultimately acquire a new girlfriend or boyfriend, which may therefore reduce your reliance on masturbation. There are so many enjoyable activities that you will miss out on if you don't overcome chronic masturbation, so hopefully this article has provided you the necessary tools to do so. Always remember the key is self control. consult for more query.

I'm going my college last 2 years. My weight increase from 50 kg to 65 kg. So how do reduce my weight.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS

I'm going my college last 2 years. My weight increase from 50 kg to 65 kg. So how do reduce my weight.
Pay close attention to your food choice. ·        Eat less carbohydrate food sources like chapatti, rice, noodles, pasta, bread etc as they help in gaining weight and storing fat. ·        While having lunch or dinner eat vegetables and dal to fill your stomach rather eating lots of chapattis or rice. ·        Have a healthy breakfast like poha, idli, upma, plain dosa, oats, dalia or khichdi with vegetables. ·        Eat a balance diet including good quality proteins like: fish, lean chicken and eggs. If you are a vegetarian then include skimmed milk, low fat paneer, butter milk, soy bean or soy milk in your diet. ·        Avoid ghee, butter or vanaspati. Prepare your diet with vegetable oil like sunflower, safflower soybean or olive oil. ·        Eat plenty of salads. ·        Eat fresh fruits including apple, orange, pineapple, papaya, sweet lime, berries, guava, watermelon, mask melon etc. ·        Avoid eating outside junk and fried foods like pizza, pasta, roll, burgers, cakes, chocolates and cookies. ·        Have an early dinner. The earlier the better, giving your system more time to digest the food. ·        Avoid cold drinks/alcohol as they add empty calories to your diet. ·        Avoid fat enriched milk products like cheese, sweets, full fat cream etc. ·        Drink 3 liters of water in a day. ·        Try to have less sugar in food and beverages. ·        Try to drink 2 cups of green tea in a day as green tea helps in weight loss by aiding digestion. ·        Avoid red meat like mutton, beef, lamb or pork. ·        Eat sprouts or roasted chana, whenever you feel hungry.
