I am 39 yrs old with left bundle branch block, sinus tachycardia & high blood pressure. My Dr. Has prescribed me medicine on triolmesar 40mg, turbovas 10 mg once daily. Last 2d echo report state that: aortic root diameter: 2.7 cm aortic valve opening: 1.7cm left atrial dimension: 3.9cm left ventricular ed: 5.3cm left ventricular es: 3.9cm intrventricular septal thickness: ed: 0.9cm es: 1.3cm left vent pw thickness: ed: 0.9cm es: 1.3 cm lv ejection fraction: 60% max velocity aortic valve: 178 cms/sec mitral valve: 81/120 cms/sec pulmonary value: 130cms/sec. Please suggest whether lbbb is dangerous, as at present no breathing problem has arise to me except in high latitude once.

Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. My mother age 65 is suffering from ckd of kidney & has BP. We consulted a nephrologist who advice us that protein has to be cut . With BP medicine he gave Tab Septasteril (alpha ketoanalogue. For 3 month we strictly restricted protein & gave recommend medicines but there was no improvement. We went to nearby nephrologist with previous case history. Best Exercises for Knee Pain Relief in Osteoarthritis

The quadriceps (or quads) describe the four muscles located on the front of the thigh. They contract together to help flex (or lift up) the hip and extend (or straighten) the knee. The quads often become weak after injury is sustained or surgery is performed on the lower leg or thigh. For this reason, it is important to learn how to strengthen this muscle group for a complete recovery.

People with certain conditions often exhibit quadriceps weakness. These conditions may include:

  • Patellofemoral stress syndrome
  • Iliotibial band friction syndrome
  • Patellar tendonitis or tendinosis

Typically, a specific area of your quad called the vastus medialis obliqus (VMO) may be weak or inhibited from contracting properly in these conditions. Your PT can show you how to perform these quad exercises with a special focus on the VMO for maximal effect.

Some quad strengthening exercises place significant stress on your knee joint. Your physical therapist can show you ways to minimize joint stress while still strengthening your quadriceps. Be sure to check in with your doctor before starting these - or any other - exercises.

Reveiw these exercises for quad strengthening and get started on the road to stronger thighs.

2 Straight Leg Raises

 Place a cuff weight around your ankle to add full resistance to your straight leg raising exercise.

The straight leg raising (SLR) exercise is a simple way to get your quad muscles working properly. Here is how the SLR is done.

  • Lie on your back on a flat surface.
  • Bend the knee of your uninvolved leg (the one that wasn't operated on) to a 90-degree angle, and keep your foot flat on the surface. Keep your involved leg straight without the knee bent.
  • Slowly lift the involved leg 12 inches off the floor (by contracting the front thigh muscles). Hold for five seconds.
  • Slowly lower your leg to the floor. Relax and repeat 10 to 15 times.

The knee of the raised leg should remain straight throughout this exercise. Focus on lifting by using the muscles on the front of your hip joint. This exercise can be made more challenging by placing a 2 or 3 pound cuff weight on your ankle before you lift.

3 Short Arc Quads

The short arc quad (SAQ) exercise is a great way to really focus in on properly contracting your quadriceps muscles. Here is how you do it:

  • Lie on your back and use a small coffee can (or paper towel roll) to prop your knee up.
  • Slowly straighten your bent knee until it is all the way straight.
  • Tighten your quad muscle and hold it tight for 5 seconds.
  • Slowly lower your leg down.
  • Repeat for 15 repetitions.

4 Wall Slides

  • Stand upright with your back against a wall and feet shoulder-width apart.
  • Slowly bend your knees, sliding your back down the wall for a count of five until your knees are bent at a 45-degree angle. (Do not bend too much further than this, as it will cause increased strain on your knees.) Hold this position for 5 seconds.
  • Straightening your knees by slowly sliding up the wall until you are fully upright with knees straight.
  • Repeat the above steps 10 more times.

5 Terminal Knee Extension

Terminal knee extension (TKE) is a simple, yet effective, way to strengthen your quads in a standing position. The TKE is considered a functional exercise, as you quads will be working while supporting your body weight.

To perform the terminal knee extension exercise, you must first obtain a resistance band, like a Theraband, from your physical therapist. Once you have a band, you should be ready to start the exercise. Here's how you do it:

  • Tie your resistance band around a stable object so it is anchored around the height of your knee. (The leg of a table is a good place.)
  • Step into the loop with the leg you wish to exercise.
  • Face the anchor point with the resistance band looped around your knee and your knee slightly bent.
  • Slowly straighten your knee, placing tension on the band. The resistance band should provide some resistance as your try to fully straighten your knee.
  • Once your knee is straight and the band has tension on it, hold the position for 3 seconds.
  • Slowly allow your knee to bend slightly once again.
  • Repeat the exercise for 15 repetitions.

The treatment of gout is simple. Keep uric acid continuously below 6 to prevent uric acid deposition. Yes diet control helps but, bcoz most gout pts hv a genetic predisposition, diet control will not allow uric acid to be decreased below 6/5 which will control the disease. Most gout pts will require a medicine along with diet control. A common misconception by most doctors is to stop dals, cabbage, spinach etc. But vegetable or plant sources of protein do not convert well to uric acid. If you stop dals and non veg you will hv no source of protein left. If you take your medicine properly, you can even have a bit of non veg too.

You should do regular walking with mild exercises, at least, half an hour in the morning and half an hour at evening. Take regular medication on time. Maintain your diet chart.

Hi I am 18 year old, doing UG in zoology 2nd year. I've been gaining weight of about 10+ KGS in a a year, for the past 3 months I didn't have my periods, I checked with the gynecologist. There is no thyroid problems, with an ultrasound, it said I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). The left ovary has cysts of size 6-7 mm (vol 15. 01 cc) num of cysts (9-10) The right ovary 5-6 mm (vol 21. 47 cc) Num of cysts (7-8) After seeing this report, I have been given the tablets to be followed for 6 months (glyciphage 850) Doctor said I should reduce my weight, to get periods. How to reduce my weight? Still now I didn't have my periods? What should I do? Is there anything serious about this? What is the cause for PCOS? Can it be cured? 1. Apply proctosedyl ointment 2-3 times daily before and after passing stool. 2. Sit in a bath tub containing warm water with little salt for some time twice daily (sitz bath). 3. Take two tea spoonful lof softovac/naturolax powder with a glass of warm water/milk in the evening or syrup duphalac 3 tsf (15ml) twice daily if there is constipation. 4. Take fiber containing diet, plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruits. 5. If no relief consult a general surgeon for sclero therapy/rubber band ligation/laser or electric coagulation/surgery.

Hello According to your height as you mentioned here weight should be 56-57 kg only but your present weight is more than normal. No need to eat walnut in any form. You needed regular exercise and workout along with controlled diet plan.

Clear nasal passages. If you have a stuffy nose, rinse sinuses with saline before bed. Using a Neti pot, nasal decongestant, or nasal strips can also help you breathe more easily while sleeping. If you have allergies, reduce dust mites and pet dander in your bedroom or use an allergy medication. Keep bedroom air moist. Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat, so if swollen nasal tissues are the problem, a humidifier may help. Mr Ramesh Mohan, If you have diabetes, then it is important to take appropriate drugs to control blood glucose effectively. The recommended blood glucose levels are fasting closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Apart from specific drugs, strict diet control and regular exercise for over 1 hour every day. As regards vegetables and fruits - all green leafy vegetables and salads are good. Fruits like watermelon, apple, pear, pomegranate, orange, sweet lime, guava and other melons. Fruits like banana, mango, chikkoo and grapes should be avoided. Since you have not mentioned anything about current blood glucose levels, & HbA1c%, so it is difficult give any opinion. Thanks.

Everyday morning when I wake up I find my nose closed. As the day progresses it gradually opens. But not totally. Please advice what can I do ?

You can use otrivin nasal drops to open nose, but it is not advisable to use this drops/spray for more than 1 week. You may have enlarged turbinates or deviated nasal septum. It will be informative if you can take a photo of your nose in such a way that I can show inside of your nasal cavity. For proper visibility of interior of your nose, first cut the nasal hairs and take photo with flash. Send it to me so I can guide you further.

The best ayurveda herb for your case is Take one table spoon of untamed rose hips, add a pair of glasses of boiling water, boil it for ten minutes and let it sit for 2-3 hours. Take 1/4 - 1/2 of the extract 3-4 times each day with honey. Mix one a part of fresh raw juice with one part of honey. Take 1/4 glass of the combination three times on a daily basis. Take one table spoon of untamed rose hips, add a pair of glasses of boiling water, boil it for ten minutes and let it sit for 2-3 hours. I am suffering feom pcos and have a bulky ovary. I had my periods on October 2015 and may be due to this ailment am bloating whereas the weight keeps changing between 70 to 75. Also am suffering from hair loss. I generally have homeopathy medicines but loosing hope regarding this. Is there any natural way or a way without any side effects? Dosage of Medroxyprogesterone and dronis was prescribed to me but they have side effects which is forcing me to have second thoughts.

You have pcos problem. I advise you to take proper balanced vegetarian diet. Take fruits and vegetables in daily diet. Take 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. Avoid garlic and red chilly at home and avoid non veg and eggs. Do meditation for mental strength daily. Keep your weight normal as compared to your height. These will definitely help you in your problem.

Hello lybrate user, there are lots of causes of your concern but I feel it might be due to electrolyte imbalances in your blood (such as sodium or potassium) but do consult physician for any other medical issue. Limit or stop using caffeine. Some people are sensitive to caffeine and may notice more symptoms when using caffeine products (such as tea, coffee, soft drinks, and some over-the-counter medications). If you smoke, stop smoking. Limit your intake of alcohol. If not hypertensive can have lemon juice with sugar and salt or water with glucose and electoral powder once or twice a day depending upon the severity.
