I am a diabetic I have one question if medication cant controll using insulin is better? if so why?

Medicine works mostly on your pancreas to stimulate insulin naturally present in your body hence no need to supply from outside in early stage of dm for first few years. But when your pancreatic cells get exaust n cannot work properly your doctor will prescribe you insulin. So no one is better or bad its just a matter of time when to shift you from medication into insulin. Lots of factors like your age. Your hba1c profile etc matters for that. Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both. It is a difficult task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose – SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & life style. For diabetes, hypertension (high BP) and many long-term illness control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take. I assure you a proper guidance. If you keep in touch personally. It is clear from the history given of your illness that you are suffering from hyperacidity. Inability to eat spicy and oily food is a supportive evidence for this hyperacidity. It is due this excessive secretion of acid only that you suffer burning sensation in your stomach. It's good that you do not consume alcohol and do not smoke. However, since yo have developed this problem - you should take some anti acidity medicines to relieve your pain/burning. The medicine would also help you to avoid trauma that can happen to the inner lining of your stomach due to this acid.

Hi, good time to stay in sunshine for vitamin-D is between 11 A.M. To 2 P.M. An exposure of about 10-20 minutes is sufficient to produce 1000 I.U. But if the blood vitamin-D levels are too low other sources like fish, fortified (milk, soy milk, juice, cheese), egg yolk also has to be consumed.

I am giving you a brief diet chart breakfast: never skip breakfast, I am giving you few option of food items you can take 2-3 toast + 1 bowl of milk with cereal or a bowl oats/porridge or parathas/upma/poha mid morning / snack: 1 fruit + yoghurt, you can make fruit raita + nuts or fruit juice lunch: 2-3 rotis + vegetables + 1 bowl pulses (dal) +add a bowl of yoghurt or paneer + 1 bowl of rice / paneer sandwich + salad evening snack: vegetable /sandwich can add cheese / night dinner: same as lunch can avoid rice.

I am suffering from IBS, a gut brain axis problem.in my case it leads intestinal swelling and constipation, though there is no abdominal pain&inflammation. Problem occur severe frequently. Levosulpiride 25 mg, a medicine, an antagonist of dopamine D2 receptor is used to cure problem that relieve for a little time. My question-is there any permanent cure of this type of IBS ?

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user. Yes, there is a permanent solution to your problem. Ibs is mailny a psycho-somatic problem which has cause and effect rooted in both body and mind axis. A person needs to be very relaxed. Having food at proper time, in proper quantity with mind focused on nothing else while eating makes the most important part of treatment. Avoid hurry, worry and curry. Use more of buttermilk. Regular practice of yoga helps.
