Hello- kidney stone recurrence can be nullified by improving your digestion and avoiding certain risk factors mentioned below- a) excess of non-vegetarian diet, green leafy vegetables, cashew nut, pista, fast foods and fermented diet. B) less intake of drinking water/ intake of still water (water inside the refrigerator). C) excess of sports activities esp done in summer season. D) late night waking up generally after 10 pm. C) less intake of sweets and dairy products in diet. D) not practicing yoga in early morning. Avoid these things and kidney stone will not bother you in future.

My husband having itching problem around anus at one side. He is having itching heavily. Already tried ring guard but didn't cured. What to do?

MS, MBBS
General Surgeon, Nagpur
Hello lybrate-user, Itching around anus is not just because of any fungal infection. Ring guard only fights against fungus. A detailed examination of anus might help to know the cause of itching. I suggest you ask your husband to start SITZ bath at least 3 times a day and keep good anal hygiene. Hope this helps. Many thanks.

My cousin is a 4 year old child male. He has phimosis with complain of narrow stream of urine (according to her mother) for which he was shown to someone (not a doctor) who did the stretching of the foreskin along with application of mustard oil. Dear lybrate user. Phimosis is a congenital narrowing of the opening of the foreskin so that it cannot be retracted. Phimosis is a very common problem. In most of the cases you can clear the problem yourself. Phimosis could cause moderate to severe pain while having vaginal intercourse. Apply oil on your foreskin and on the glans. Move the foreskin forward and back slowly without hurting you much. Because the oil is lubricant, it will be easier than without oil. Do this forward and back movement 20 times several times in a day. Repeat the same every day for around one month. You will get the elasticity and you will be able to retract the foreskin completely. In case if there is no result from the above massage, you can always go for a minor surgical procedure called circumcision. Take care.

It is likely to be anal fissure. Anal fissure improves with general measures but may require surgery. The general measures I would suggest are 1. Take lot of vegetables & fruits in your diet 2. Avoid chillies & spices 3. Take lot of fluids 4. Avoid constipation 5 periodically do anal exercises (alternately contracting & relaxing the buttocks, anal area & upper thighs) 6. Take sitz bath 3-4 times a day. This means sitting in a tub of warm water & doing anal exercises 7. Atleast once get it examined by a general surgeon.

Lemon juice is vitamin C-rich juice and may even dissolve kidney stones, yet studies remains inconclusive on these claims. But, studies does agree that lemon juice may support kidney health but on the other end lemon juice is by no means a cure all for kidney stones. Regardless of this, lemon juice has potent nutritional benefits for the kidneys, possibly providing protection against kidney stone development. But many factors come into play here; however, lemon juice may still be a beneficial addition to the diet of anyone wanting to remove kidneystones----------------For this we may first get to Type of Kidney Stones before we fully investigate the benefits of lemon juice on stone development. The main contributors to kidney stones include:----------------- 1.Cystine — Often the result of a genetic disorder.---------- 2.Struvite — Typically develop after a kidney infection.------------- 3.Uric Acid — Typically result from overconsuming meat, fish, and shellfish — generally rare.---------------- 4.Calcium Oxalate — Buildup of calcium deposits in the kidneys — most common.------ Calcium is a necessary mineral for the bones, teeth, heart, and nervous system. When the body has excess calcium, the kidneys respond by removing it from the blood and excreting it out through the urine. The problem arises when the body also has excess oxalate, a plant compound found in foods like spinach and kale. This combination can form calcium oxalate, the most common form of kidney stones.----------------------Lemon juice contains high levels of citric acid, not to be confused with ascorbic acid (vitamin C). While lemon juice contains both, citric acid seems to contribute to reducing the chances of developing calcium oxalate stones. In clinical studies, citric acid from lemon juice has been shown to reduce urine acidity, thereby reducing kidney stone incidence. Vitamin C may also provide protection, yet it is unclear whether or not this protection is as significant as citric acid. Regardless, the bottom line is that lemon juice offers a complementary approach to supporting kidney function and, depending on the type of stones in question, possibly halting formation before it starts.-------------------------------150-200 Ml of lemon juice offers plenty of citric acid and a variety of other nutrients and antioxidants, all of which may be helpful for supporting kidney health. Always consume lemon juice in its raw, natural form and never purchase bottled lemon juice, as these products are usually pasteurized and stripped of their raw enzymes and vital nutrients----You can mix it with hot water and some raw honey, or make your own lemonade by combining fresh lemon juice with cold water. ------------------------------------------

Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day. Drinking water at intervals keeps your body hydrated so that uric acid crystals do not form at all. A healthy intake of water can help flush excess uric acid out of the body. Increase your consumption of antioxidant-rich foods like cherries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes and pineapples. They prevent inflammation of the joints and help in the excretion of uric acid. Try apple cider vinegar. Not only is it known to lower uric acid levels, but it also helps to reduce arthritic pain, even when used as a topical application. Stay away from foods that can cause gout or trigger inflammation. These include beans, mushrooms, meat and fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines and crab. Although patients with gout are advised to limit alcohol intake, the best option would be to eliminate it completely. Alcohol not only increases the risk of gout it also increases the severity of symptoms. take tab. zyloric in 200 mg od only..all other medicines are ok.

I am a 50 year old man and I have problem passing urine as the flow is slow and bladder does not empty and I have to go again and again. Please suggest any medication.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS

Dear , in summer due to hot weather conditions one tends to loose lot of fluids from the body through perspiration and respiration. So urine output naturally drops and as quantity drops force naturally drops. So simply increase fluid intake to such an extent that urine almost watery uncoloured. This should improve your flow of urine. At the same time see that you are not constipated. If this does not improve the flow then one need to investigate to find the cause like urine examination and sonography.
