All these are myths. Excess of everything is bad. No soft drink lead to diabetes. Eating egg yolk in excess raises cholesterol. Bt along with eating eggs you are doing good physical activity and a balanced diet it will not raise. Expecding many hours infornt of tv may cause problem but watching only for one two hours per day with proper sitting position will not.

What you have stated is suggestive of gastro oesophagial regurgitation disorder, or in simple word the secretions from your stomach ascend back in the food pipe called oesophagus in the chest. This secretion is acidic and when it reaches throat, it produces sour taste in mouth and burning sensation. You should eat small meals some 2 hours before going to bed. Raise the head end of your bed by about 4 to 6 inches. You may need some prokinetic and proton pump inhibitor drugs if there is no relief. You may consult privately.

Hello doctor,i have a long medical history. I used to have headache all the time of the day so i started taking pain killers and then after few months thet became ineffective. Also I gained a lot of weight abruptly inspite of proper diet. Dan i saw a neurologist he prescribed me with topiramate for migraine. It has also become ineffective. N now i experience heat flashes, insomnia, depression, n inability to lose weight. Also i experience low blood pressure and kind of swelling or water retention all over the body.What is the possible cause for all this.Is there any hormonal problem or something else as I have gone through the thyroid test and it came normal.Please suggest wat tests should i get done?

Dear, get an eye test and uric acid test done from a proper place. Whatever problems you mentioned later, can be because of increase in weight and anxiety related to it. Check up with dietitian or nutritionist. For anxiety talk to counselor. You can talk to me on my personal forum.

Sleep hygiene may sound unimaginative, but it just may be the best way to get the sleep you need in this 24/7 age. Here are some simple tips for making the sleep of your dreams a nightly reality: #1 Avoid Caffeine, Alcohol, Nicotine, and Other Chemicals that Interfere with Sleep i_influence2. Jpg Caffeinated products decrease a person’s quality of sleep. As any coffee lover knows, caffeine is a stimulant that can keep you awake. So avoid caffeine (found in coffee, tea, chocolate, cola, and some pain relievers) for four to six hours before bedtime. Similarly, smokers should refrain Although alcohol may help bring on sleep, after a few hours it acts as a stimulant, increasing the number of awakenings and generally decreasing the quality of sleep later in the night. It is therefore best to limit alcohol consumption to one to two drinks per day, or less, and to avoid drinking within three hours of bedtime. #2 Turn Your Bedroom into a Sleep-Inducing Environment A quiet, dark, and cool environment can help promote sound slumber. Why do you think bats congregate in caves for their daytime sleep? To achieve such an environment, lower the volume of outside noise with earplugs or a "white noise" appliance. Use heavy curtains, blackout shades, or an eye mask to block light, a powerful cue that tells the brain that it's time to wake up. Keep the temperature comfortably cool—between 60 and 75°F—and the room well ventilated. And make sure your bedroom is equipped with a comfortable mattress and pillows. (Remember that most mattresses wear out after ten years.) Also, if a pet regularly wakes you during the night, you may want to consider keeping it out of your bedroom. It may help to limit your bedroom activities to sleep and sex only. Keeping computers, TVs, and work materials out of the room will strengthen the mental association between your bedroom and sleep. #3 Establish a Soothing Pre-Sleep Routine i_tips3. If you’re not asleep after 20 minutes, get out of bed, go to another room, and do something relaxing, like reading or listening to music until you are tired enough to sleep. #5 Don’t Be a Nighttime Clock-Watcher Staring at a clock in your bedroom, either when you are trying to fall asleep or when you wake in the middle of the night, can actually increase stress, making it harder to fall asleep. Turn your clock’s face away from you. And if you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep in about 20 minutes, get up and engage in a quiet, restful activity such as reading or listening to music. And keep the lights dim; bright light can stimulate your internal clock. When your eyelids are drooping and you are ready to sleep, return to bed. #6 Use Light to Your Advantage Natural light keeps your internal clock on a healthy sleep-wake cycle. So let in the light first thing in the morning and get out of the office for a sun break during the day. #7 Keep Your Internal Clock Set with a Consistent Sleep Schedule i_tips2. Jpg Having a regular sleep schedule helps to ensure better quality and consistent sleep. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day sets the body’s "internal clock" to expect sleep at a certain time night after night. Try to stick as closely as possible to your routine on weekends to avoid a Monday morning sleep hangover. Waking up at the same time each day is the very best way to set your clock, and even if you did not sleep well the night before, the extra sleep drive will help you consolidate sleep the following night. Learn more about the importance of synchronizing #8 Nap Early—Or Not at All Many people make naps a regular part of their day. However, for those who find falling asleep or staying asleep through the night problematic, afternoon napping may be one of the culprits. This is because late-day naps decrease sleep drive. If you must nap, it’s better to keep it short and before 5 p.m. #9 Lighten Up on Evening Meals Eating a pepperoni pizza at 10 p.m. May be a recipe for insomnia. Finish dinner several hours before bedtime and avoid foods that cause indigestion. If you get hungry at night, snack on foods that (in your experience) won't disturb your sleep, perhaps dairy foods and carbohydrates. #10 Balance Fluid Intake Drink enough fluid at night to keep from waking up thirsty—but not so much and so close to bedtime that you will be awakened by the need for a trip to the bathroom. #11 Exercise Early i_genetics2. Jpg Exercise helps promote restful sleep if it is done several hours before you go to bed. Exercise can help you fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly—as long as it's done at the right time. Exercise stimulates the body to secrete the stress hormone cortisol, which helps activate the alerting mechanism in the brain. This is fine, unless you're trying to fall asleep. Try to finish exercising at least three hours before bed or work out earlier in the day. #12 Follow Through Some of these tips will be easier to include in your daily and nightly routine than others. However, if you stick with them, your chances of achieving restful sleep will improve. That said, not all sleep problems are so easily treated and could signify the presence of a sleep disorder such as apnea, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, or another clinical sleep problem. If your sleep difficulties don’t improve through good sleep hygiene, you may want to consult your physician or a sleep specialist.

Dear lybrate user, you may be suffering from a clinical condition called phimosis. The most conventional method to get rid of it is surgery. However, if you are unwilling to undergo surgery then you can try the following process at home. 1) buy any local anaesthetic gel (e. G. Lidocaine, lignocaine, xylocaine) from allopathic retail shop. 2) apply a little amount of that anaesthetic gel at the lower part of the prepuce of penis where the foreskin remains attached. 3) after application of the gel, retract the foreskin backwards as far as you can. Due to the anaesthetic property of the gel you will be able to retract the foreskin backwards to some extent more than you can do in normal condition. 4) release the foreskin when you feel pain 5) again repeat the same process. Do it continuously for at least 30 minutes in a day. Within a month you will feel that your foreskin has become loose.

It could be related to heart. Best thing is to get her heart checked by a cardiologist. Once heart is ruled out, then damage to ribs and joints could be looked into. Best thing is to take her to doctor.

At this age sexual function is likely to reduce because of various factors including medical illness. Viagra if taken at appropriate doses after consulting a doctor is a safe medicine. If it helps to improve your sexual satisfaction you should be happy. People in the ninetten eighties did not have any such safe option.

The difference between hemorrhoids and fissures, is a the hemorrhoid is actually a blood vessel that has become irritated and enlarged and will cause discomfort and bleeding. You can get them externally and internally. If they are external, you can feel them and when they are really inflamed they will look like a large purplish lump around the rectum. Internal ones can be found with an exam. Fissures are actually small tears in the mucosa in and around the rectum and also cause discomfort and bleeding. Both can be treated conservatively with warm sitz baths, anucort suppositories (prescription) or over the counter creams/suppositories like Anusol. You also need to make sure your diet includes lots of water, lots of fiber and green vegies.

This could be fissure in anal region. If it is the first time then medicines may cure you. But if it is recurrent you may require surgery. It can only be decided after checking that area by a surgeon.

Dear lybrate user, you should try a home therapy to boost your sexual performance. Soak 4-5 dry dates (khurma khajur) in a cup of lukewarm milk before going to bed daily. On waking up next morning eat those soaked dry dates & discard the milk. Repeat the process daily. This therapy often gives effective result within 15 days.

Hello, Usually bleeding stops. But take care that the blood clots inside canal should be cleaned. You can clean ear canal with ear bud dipped in betadine liquid.

You have phimosis, which in your age, the foreskin should still be forming so may be easy to treat. Stretching exercises, when erect just pull it back as far as it will go and hold for 5 mins. Do this a few times daily. In the shower helps, and you should see results within days/weeks. Could also try, if its possible to pull back a bit, pull it back, grab the glans (top cap of penis) with two fingers and roll the foreskin up over the two fingers as far as it will go (when the ring of skin turns white). Hold it there for 5 mins. Lubricant helps with this. It's fairly common, and this should help. Also try rubbing vitamin e (add few drops of olive oil) around the top and inside the foreskin, which may help elasticate it. If it's more serious, you may need a preputialplasty (alternative to circumcision but with no loss of looks, senstivity or anything, and is less painful with a fast recovery rate. With a preputialplasty: they make a small incision vertically then horizontally in your foreskin, and stitch it up to have more space for your glans to appear without a total circumcision-------------------. But try to solve your problem with exercise for 5 minutes daily-------------i think it will be ok.
