I am 28 yrs old. I am Ulcerative Colitis Grd III patient. I have completed my major treatment. What should I take in my diet? What I strictly not to take in my diet?

PGDHHM, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
No specific diet restrictions are required for patients with ulcerative colitis. Keep a food diary. Write what food suits you and what makes you feel bad. Some of these foods might not suit you. Alcohol Caffeine Carbonated drinks Dairy products, if you’re lactose intolerant Dried beans, peas, and legumes Dried fruits Foods high in fibre Meat Nuts, crunchy nut butters Popcorn Products that have sorbitol (sugar-free gum and candies) Seeds Spicy foods. Try to take low fibre diet. It might suit you. Hope this helps you.

Apart from hyperacidity the pain could also be due to Amoebic infection. So along with the antacid tablets take anti amoebicidal under medical guidance for 5 - 10 days depending up on the severity. As you have uti als you require urinarty antiseptics with medical consultaion. Take plenty of water for relief of both acidity and uti. Maintain proper personal hygiene of the genitals after urination and after passing of motion. Avoid outside food. For somereason if you had to take outside take very hot stuff like hot rice, hot idli, hot dosa etc. Do not take junk food. Come back for further guidance. Good luck.

I am a male of 60 years, and I go to office by scooter travelling 35 kms per day on the average. Daily in the early morning I feel tired and I have paid on both the hips. Is it due to ageing or due to gastric problem?

MBBS, MS Ortho, DNB (Orthopedics), Dip SICOT (Belgium), FISOC (USA), MNAMS (Ortho), FASM (Singapore)
Orthopedist, Chennai
Dear , I am Dr. Saseendar, specialist orthopaedic surgeon from chennai. Is the pain deep in your hip joint region? or is it in your buttocks? have you ever had pain in multiple joints earlier? if the pain is in your hip joint, then it can be due to age related wear and tear of your hip joint, otherwise called osteoarthritis. Kindly get an x ray of your hips and post here.

I am suffering from acidity. My stool is also not cleared everyday. What should I do?

MBBS
General Physician, Pondicherry
I am suffering from acidity. My stool is also not cleared everyday. What should I do?
Gastritis with constipation and dark coloured stool might be bleeding gastritis. I suggest to take syrup sucrafil O 10 ml 2 times per day with tab pantoprazole 40 mg 2 time daily before food. If constipation is more take tab dulcolax 10 mg in the night. It will clear the bowel.
