I am 61 years old, I have back pain if I sit for more than 30 minutes in front of computer.

It could be due to cervical spondylosis this is quite a common condition rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days do neck & back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Use of cervical collar will give you relief. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you will need other supportive medicines also.

My father 65years male. Having neck pain and right upper limb tingling sensations. Wat is the treatment. Is it serious condition?

Fellowship in Joint Replacement, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Dhamtari
Neck pain with one limb tingling is mostly due to nerve root irritation in the cervical spine area. The condition commonly referred to as cervical spondylosis. It should be taken seriously as it can progress to weakness in limbs. Management includes xrays of cervical spine (sometimes mri is also needed) cervical collar for severe pain (should not be used for long term) neck muscle strengthening exercises (depending on x ray) medicines for pain and nerve irritation.

You need to change your sitting pattern at work. Please ensure you take breaks after every one and half hour, walk around and get back to work. Also your chair height should be adjusted so that your hips and knees are at 90 degrees to each other and your feet in contact with ground. The height of your consumer screen should be such that it's centre is right in line with your eyes to avoid excess stress on your neck. Also start some form of daily activity for 45 mins to maintain the flexibility.
