I am 45 years old. After returning from high hilly area ie. Siachin glacier at the height of 15000' where negligible oxygen availability (in the year 2007), feeling light pain in knee joint. Also got hurt in right knee with rock and some times feeling more in right knee. Specially after seating for quite long at one place but not always or while walking in the beginning. After walking some times it goes off.

Try this for joint pains try this. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Do rest must. Avoid long sitting and toward bending. Heat fermentation twice a day. Sit straight and maintain your posture. Do stretching exercise of spine and legs. 2nd option tk physiotherapy treatment.

My father is 89 years old now and then he had burning pain in both the legs what is the reason?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Burning sensation could be a manifestation of a systemic disease like diabetes or any metabolic abnormality in which case there is a neuropathy, or it can also be a manifestation of compression of nerves in lower back region or sometimes it can be due to vascular causes. My advise will be to start with vitamin b 12 supplementation and medications for neuropathic symptoms like gabapentin and pregabalin in small dosages but it will be wise to consult his physician to find safety in his case. Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day.

Avoid protein diets, avoid more milk products. bad habits , fast food/fat/oily,salty foods. Coffee, smoking, alcohol intake. Non-veg., take whole grain,oats,green veg.,plenty of water in day time, 1 glass of water at night before bed. Take tab. Zyloric 100 mg once a day. Tab. Ulracet sos for pain in joints. Tab. Bencid 500 mg once a day.

Back pain near lower spinal. It is from two days. I was all ok when I went to sleep. But from nxt morning its paining and not letting me move properly. I am not able to bent down

It is most probably muscle strain due to bad posture while sleeping at night. If you pain is only a localised back pain with no other associated symptoms, then I advise you: 1) ice packs 2) analgesic + muscle relaxant as per your suitability 3) local analgesic spray 4) rest for 5-7 days 5) then after that we can start with gentle physical therapy. Do physiotherapy. Also take rhus tox 200 - twice daily for 2-3 weeks. As this is a progressing disease and will take time to heal - you need to keep patience.

Hi I can understand your problem 1) avoid activities that make your symptoms worse 2) apply ice packs 3) start physiotherapy treatment as electrotherapy will reduce pain and inflammation 4) exercise and manual therapy will help in pain free movement. Hello, Your back pain is mostly related to disc reasons. Get your back xray done. Xray ls spine ap/lat. Feel free to share reports so that I can guide you better. Till then take painkillers like diclo for 7 days. Avoid heavy weights. Avoid bending. Ice application. And physiotherapy.

Hello Dr. I am 35 years old and suffering from knee pain from last one months. What should I do?

X rays of both knee joints (digital) this could be due to oa knee &/or obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikid plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Don't ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hi lybrate-user Nothing to worry. Just avoid forward bending and lifting objects. Do back exercises for muscle strengthening under a qualified physiotherapist. Wear a limbo sacral belt in daytime, removing in bed. Lie in comfortable posture in bed, relaxed, with easy deep breathing exercises. Take naproxen or vivaran tablets twice a day after consultancy in orthopaedic department. Do hot fomentation, massage with bikini gel and take neurobion forte once daily This will help you.
