You need to start speech therapy. Practice breathing exercises. Speak slowly. Work on your confidence.

I have been stuttering for some years now. At times it is just normal but at times it seems to get bad. Pl recommend a homeopathy medicine for the same.

Stammering can be made lesser only and only by speech therapy. So you should take the help of a speech therapist. Also, i'd suggest you to visit a psychologist as confidence plays a great role in dealing with this problem. I'd suggest you to speak very slowly, word by word. People may make fun of this but believe me, slowly you'll get better at it. Hope your query is answered. Wishing you good health.

Hi, stammering is a psychosomatic problem which tends to increase in pressure situations. You will greatly benefit from speech therapy and must go for it immediately. Medicines have no role in treatment of stammering. Do you find yourself better in speaking in certain situations than others? you are free to consult me in private.

Dear Lybrate user. In many of the cases Stammering has two important reasons. Vocal chord misalignment or other problems are the primary reason. For this vocal chord complaint, you should consult an ENT specialist and get it corrected. Second reason is purely psychological. Stammer therapy can help you in psychological reasons. Take care.

Hi Thank you for your question. Kindly meet a professional "Speech Language Pathologist" (SLP). I'm sure he/she will able to help you speaking clearly. You have to undergo voice evaluation (testing), after that only SLP will treat your problem based on severity. Regard Surender Gupta Audiologist and Speech Language Pathologist

I had vocal nodule and recovered from it in around eight months, but still I can't sing. Whenever I try, I feel tightened muscles. Neither I can go high nor low. Even in normal speaking I sometimes feel tiredness. I also had polyp and runny nose which stopped my singing initially. I also have to clear my throat now which I never had earlier. Please suggest me something. I want to sing as soon as possible. I will be very thankful to you.

"For Sinus and Nose problems, try taking steam inhalation for 3 times a day. To know how to take steam, please read instructions below to know - how to take steam inhalation for best results. If problem is not solved in 2-3 days, you may need additional medicines. Techniques to steam 1) Boil a pot of water. 2) Pour water into a large flat pan or bowl. If you use a casserole, water will remain warm for longer duration. 3) Place your head over the bowl at a distance of 1 feet. 4) Cover your head and bowl with a large towel (like a tent), take long breath through your nose and breath out through mouth. Take a break every 1-2 minutes until you feel relatively cooler. Do it for 10 minute twice or thrice a day. If you feel that the treatment is getting too much for you, raise the towel so that fresh air is brought into the area and breathe through your mouth a couple of times and then resume Take care - Take all precautions while dealing with hot water. Also, keep children away and wan others that you are dealing with boiling hot water. Other way is - by an Electric steamer available in market and take steam through it. It is more convenient. "

The vocal folds, also known commonly as vocal cords or voice reeds, are composed of twin infoldings of mucous membrane stretched horizontally, from back to front, across the larynx. They vibrate, modulating the flow of air being expelled from the lungs during phonation. You can consult a vocal therapist to improve or repair your voice. Take care

I suffer from stammering problem since I was in 4 th standard. Sometimes it decreases to negligible and sometimes becomes very severe. I stammer on certain words only, like the words which have a combination of A with D and D with I and etc etc. Please suggest a way to get rid of my stammering or suggest a doctor with whom I can consult. Thanking you.

Lybrate-user. I think your stammering has more to do with your confidence and self esteem, rather than words and alphabets. May be you stammer more when you think you can't handle a situation or a problem. Also it might be an issue of inferiority complex. In any case you have to work on how you think. Be your self. Do not think more of the consequences. If you think you are correct then go ahead. Do not think low of your self. Everybody is not the same. You are unique. Respect your own self. All the best.

My 2 years old kid (female - till now no speech, but says 2 or 3 word only) having mild autistic spectrum disorder. Doctors informed to go for occupational therapy and speech therapy. I want to know about this. It is curable or not? Most of them telling that, this is not curable. Please advice.

If your child has mild autistic features and can speak 2-3 words then she should do well with intensive therapies, this is the right age to act. You should learn yourself and work with therapist.
