I lost my friend in an accident now I am very depressed please give me some suggestions.

I lost my friend in an accident now I am very depressed please give me some suggestions.
Loosing someone close is very tough emotionally. Sometimes persistent grief leads to depression as it causes constant stress response in your body. You may want to see a psychologist or a counselor for few weeks to break the thought pattern that you are having right now and begin a positive pattern. I would also advice to try following things as you are young and stress is present in our daily life these days. Building resilience will go a long way and help you cope up with many life circumstances. Building your resilience will also help you manage your stress and help in depression. Try following things to learn relaxation response which leads to better coping mechanism on a daily basis. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. You could google and download an audio file. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). When you take a nice and deep break there is actual physiological change in your body. This will help you to activate parasympathetic nervous system which promotes relaxation and helps you calm down and think more clearly. This will also actually improve your performance in your work. Along with this exercise is one of the best way to relive stress and stay fit. Engage in any kind of physical activity at least 4 times a week. This also helps in stress reduction. Along with this some relaxation exercises as well as engaging in joyful activities such as music, singing, dancing, reading, being in nature, gardening, talking with friends or anything which you enjoy will help reducing stress and rejuvenation of your mind and body. Have good routine for sleep and eating. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Along with this also increase consumption of raw vegetables in the form of salad in both the meals of your day. Hope this helps. Wishing you very best.

Your brain is like a muscle. You need to exercise it regularly. The exciting thing is that you don’t have to be a millionaire to increase your brain capacity. All you need to do is invest a little time to regularly train your brain. So what can you do? Here are 10 simple ways you can increase your brain power and improve your intelligence! 1. Do something new When you experience something ‘new’ you actually ‘stimulate’ your brain! Don’t get stuck in a rut doing the same old things – the only way to change the structure of your brain is to do something new. This creates new neural pathways, increasing your intelligence. You could take a new route to work, try a new recipe for dinner, or even a new form of exercise – mix it up! 2. Exercise regularly It’s been proven that regular exercise helps to increase brain function and enhances neurogenesis. This means that every time you exercise you are creating new brain cells! Get off the couch and get moving! Your brain will thank you for it :) 3. Train your memory How often do you hear people say “I wish I had a better memory?’ Yet no-one does anything about this! If you discipline yourself to memorise phone numbers and other important numbers (passport, credit card, insurance, driving license) you will start to see a marked improvement in your memory 4. Be curious Instead of taking everything at face value, get into the habit of questioning everyday things/products, services that you come into contact with. By being ‘curious’ and questioning everything, you force your brain to innovate & create new ideas. Curiosity may have killed that cat, more importantly it created super important things like electricity and computers! 5. Think positive Stress & anxiety kill existing brain neurons and also stop new neurons from being created. Research has shown that positive thinking, especially in the future tense, speeds up the creation of cells and dramatically reduces stress & anxiety. Try and get a handle on negative thoughts and make an effort to replace them with positive ones. 6. Eat healthy Our diets have a HUGE impact on brain function. Our brains consume over 20% of all nutrients & oxygen that we consume – so remember to feed your brain with the good stuff! (i.e. Fresh fruit and veg & plenty of OMEGA 3 oils found in oily fish) 7. Read a book Reading relieves tension & stress (brain-cell killers) because it’s a form of escapism. Research has also shown that using your imagination is a great way to train your brain because you force your mind to ‘picture’ what you are imagining. Reading is a great way to trigger your imagination! 8. Get enough sleep Sleep is like a mini detox for the brain. This is when your body regenerates cells and removes all the toxins that have built up during the day. Get to bed between the hours of 9 pm and midnight to benefit from the most effective hours of sleep! 9. Avoid using the GPS Gone are the days of map reading! Geo Satellite Navigation may have made our lives easier, it has also made our brains lazier and less efficient at the same time! Go back to the old school and use a map to navigate every now and then (this exercises the part of your brain responsible for understanding spatial relationships). 10. Stop Using the calculator Remember back at school when we were taught to use our brains to do simple sums like times tables? It’s incredible how we now rely on devices like smart-phones and laptops to calculate really simple equations. Resist the urge to work things out using an external device – and use the device you were born with – your brain!

Tips on Managing Your Marriage Relationships

Tips on Managing Your Marriage Relationships

Every married couple undergoes relationship troubles, but these troubles should not linger for a long time otherwise you might end up facing dreadful consequences. If you want to save your married life by maintaining a smooth relation with your partner, then you have to look for the best solutions that can resolve marital issues.

How to manage marital relationships?

  1. Maintaining Trust: Since trust is the base of every relationship, therefore you should make special effort in maintaining the same. Unresolved issues should be resolved quickly and there should be transparent communication between the married couples. Some of the special qualities that should be maintained in order to maintain trust within a marital relationship in long run are being on time, consistency, being sensitive towards feelings, avoiding lies, sharing feelings, respecting partner's feelings, avoiding jealousy and others.
  2. Healthy Communication: If the problems remain unresolved, then more and more conflicts will be invited. Have open discussions and clear up your points so that confusions can be eliminated. If you make efforts in understanding the real causes, then only the problems can be resolved. You need to put yourself in the shoes of the partner and understand where the person is coming from. Most conflicts occur because we only see our view points and not that of others.
  3. Giving time to the relationship: You can maintain your marital relationship in a healthy state only by considering the married life as the prior issue. Keep your marriage above every other social thing and then only relationship can be made secured. Give time for repairing all dubs and defects of your relationship. In this case, you can also take the help of any expert counsellor. Spend some quality time with each other so that the warmth of your relationship can be maintained.
  4. Tackling monetary problems: Do not allow any conflict to come into your relationship just because of a pathetic financial condition. It is important for both the partners to put-in efforts in saving money so that monthly expenses can be kept under strict control. A perfect budget needs to be scheduled so that financial strength can be restored. If you are incapable of catering financial support, support your partner at least mentally so that he can come out of the financial trouble as soon as possible.
  5. Maintain a Happy Sexual Life: Create a proper schedule for lovemaking in order to maintain a healthy sex life. You should try to know the sexual needs of your partner so that you can fulfil the expectations.

Mr. lybrate-user, please look for a sign of depression or any amount of stress in her. Adjusting to new situation takes time for few. She might be used to doing work slowly or not have done any work before marriage. She might have been a pampered kid where her mother wouldn't have allowed her to do any. Try to ask about it and understand her. Provide her the needed cushion and comfort. It will change her. Meet a nearby psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist to explore if she is not opening up with you.

Dear lybrate user. Don't worry. You just smoked 15 times. Of course, there is bad effects on your lungs. But the moment you stopped smoking, your body started the repair process. I can say, the bad effects will be nullified within a span of around two weeks. Practice physical exercise. Take care.

Dear Saikat, Though you were suffering from depression and anxiety, the diagnosis must have been different. Depression and anxiety occurs in many psychiatric disorders and few medical conditions. Risdone plus and oleanz is usually prescribed for psychotic features. Doctors usually try to treat with minimum dose of drugs. Many persons respond well to that dose itself. If you are not finding any improvement, please consult the doctor again. She/he will increase the dose, add another drug/therapy or change the drugs.

bad feelings and bad thoughts come because of our internal thinking. internal thought process depend on what we read and what we express and what we think. no thought or no dream comes without any reason. suppose you spend most of the time in negative thoughts. automatically negative feelings comes to you. if you feel always positive aspects positive feelings come to you. our brain works and gives input. based on our suggestion. so better to read positive and inspirations books. express always positive aspects. if unexpectedly negative thoughts comes leave it. dont give much priority for that. feel and express always positive aspects. dont be alone. better to spend most of the time with your family members and good friends. be share and express your feelings and problems with your close friends and family members. be happy all the time and be sociable. ok all the best.
