I couldn't control my temper since last 3 years. I am 26 years age. I consult with many doctors but no result.

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry, MBA (Healthcare)

Hi there ~ you are probably suffering from bipolar disorder with frequent manic episodes. Although some people may have only one episode, bipolar disorder is a lifelong condition that usually involves recurrent episodes. It's usually marked by episodes of mania or hypomania (low-grade highs) -- elevated mood and excessive energy and activity -- and depression, often with long periods of normalcy in between the mood swings. Doctors don't completely understand the causes of bipolar disorder, but they do understand the condition much better than they did 10 years ago. With that understanding has come targeted treatment. Although there is no cure, its symptoms can be managed effectively. Treating bipolar mania if you have bipolar disorder, you may be having an episode of mania if you suffer three or more of these symptoms most of the day -- nearly every day -- for one week or longer: increased activity need less sleep to feel rested and energetic excessively high, overly euphoric mood racing thoughts talking very fast or talking more than usual; speech is pressured, loud, and often difficult to interpret inflated self-esteem or grandiosity -- unrealistic beliefs in one's ability, intelligence, and powers; may be delusional increased reckless behaviors (such as lavish spending sprees, impulsive sexual indiscretions, abuse of alcohol or drugs, bad business decisions, or reckless driving) distractibility if you have four or more episodes of mania or depression in a year, it's known as" rapid cycling. If you are suffering from mania, your doctor may initially treat you with an antipsychotic drug or benzodiazepine, a sedative, to quickly control hyperactivity, sleeplessness, hostility, and irritability. Your doctor will also likely prescribe a mood stabilizer (antimanic drug). Mood stabilizers consist of a variety of drugs that help control mood swings, prevent recurrences, and reduce the risk of suicide. They are usually taken for a long time, sometimes indefinitely, and include lithium and certain anticonvulsant drugs like depakote, lamictal, or tegretol. Very close medical supervision and blood tests may be needed during this approach to rapidly control a manic episode. Hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely da.

BACK PAIN: The risk of lower back injury is higher in people who are obese, who have a poor posture or weak back and abdominal muscles. Almost everyone will experience lower back pain once in their life time. Due to a poor diet and lack of exercise this risk can increase by the day. Relieving lower back pain with Yoga AND Exercises are the best option.

I have white spots on my lips what should I do?

BHMS
Homeopath,
I have white spots on my lips what should I do?
Hello. White patches/ dots on your skin are a common type of depigmented skin lesion associated with an infection, allergy, or autoimmune disorder. One common cause of white spots, or hypopigmentation, is a fungal infection of the skin known as tinea versicolor (associated with other symptoms, such as itching or dryness on or around the white patches). This fungal infection is not contagious and can be treated easily with over-the-counter medications. The white spots and patches can also be becuase of deiciency of vitamin D (for which 15-20 minutes of exposure to early morning sunlight without sunscreen is needed, 3-4times a week). Or else they could be idiopathic (i.e., without any cause). Please tell me other symptoms like about sensation on the area, since how long do you have this patch, any family history of white patch, etc. Meantime, you can start with homoeopathic Rx - Cina 1M/ one dose daily at night and Ars. Sulph. Flavum. 200/ twice daily for 20days (as it is safe).

I am frequently getting nail (only one finger) infections - paranychia, is there any systemic link to this problem. What precautions I should take to get rid of this problem?

MBBS
General Physician, Faridabad
The type of treatment depends on the type of paronychia: Acute paronychia — You can begin treating yourself by soaking the finger or toe in warm water. Do this for at least 15 minutes, two to four times a day. If your symptoms do not improve with this treatment, or if pus develops near the nail, call your doctor. If you have a moderate or severe paronychia, your doctor may treat it with an oral antibiotic. You also will be told to elevate the injured finger or toe, and to soak the infected area in warm water two to four times a day. If pus has accumulated near the nail, the doctor will numb the area and drain the pus. If necessary, a small part of your nail will be removed to make sure that the area drains completely. Chronic paronychia — Since most cases of chronic paronychia are caused by fungi, your doctor will treat the infection with antifungal medication that is applied to the skin, such as clotrimazole (Lotrimin, Mycelex) or ketoconazole (Nizoral). You may have to apply the medicine every day for several weeks. You also will be reminded to keep the skin clean and dry. Rarely, in severe cases, you will need to take antifungal drugs or steroids by mouth.

My wife 58 yrs is taking glyzid m and jalara 50 mg for few years. The sugar levels are almost with in limits. What type of diabetes is this and what are the implications? thanks.

MD - Diabetology, Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), MBBS
Endocrinologist, Kochi
This is type 2 diabetes. Don't look at blood sugar control alone. That's only a small part of diabetes management. Look for complications & manage them early & properly. Thus, you can ensure her a good quality of life in spite of having diabetes.

Hair is made up of minerals, proteins and iron. Hair fall can happen due to many reasons. It can be postpartum (after 3 months of delivery). Any acute illness like viral infections, malaria, typhoid can also cause it. It can happen in long term disorders like diabetes, high bp, arthritis. Medicines taken for all these disorders can also trigger the hair fall. Diet is very important. Eat sprouts, beans, nuts, soya along with that drink 3 lit of water/day. Oil the scalp 3/week and wash it 3/week. Consult trichologist.

Masturbation is a natural habit in both the genders during their life time. Continuous masturbation in men will certainly leads to unwanted curvature of penis. Masturbation once a week is fine but do not make it your habbit.
