Symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis And its Homeopathic Remedies!

Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammation of ulcers or open sores, in the innermost layer of the large intestine. It is a form of inflammatory bowel disease. Even though there is no absolute cause of ulcerative colitis, there are some possible factors such as genetics, infections and stress. It mostly seems to be hereditary in the sense that of the 10-30% people that have ulcerative colitis, most of them have one close family member with the same condition.

The main symptoms of ulcerative colitis are the following:

  1. Diarrhoea with blood and mucus
  2. Abdominal pain can range from mild discomfort to painful cramping
  3. Anaemia
  4. Fatigue
  5. Weight loss

Treatment of Ulcerative colitis: Even though conventional treatment such as corticosteroids and aminosalicylates are used to reduce inflammation, homeopathic treatment can help stop the bleeding and diarrhoea. A long-term remission is possible, and future attacks can be prevented by homeopathy.

Some of the common homeopathic ulcerative colitis remedies are:

  1. Argentum nitricum: This is used to relieve diarrhoea with mucus and blood, excessive gas; it is also used to treat anxiety that may arise from diarrhoea.
  2. Arsenicum album: This is used if the stool is foul smelling and frequent, especially at night, and there is a burning pain in the abdomen; fear of disease and death along with sudden chills is also treated by Arsenicum album.
  3. Mercurius corrosivus: This is used to treat haemorrhagic and ulcerative lesions, severely painful defecation and painful foul smelling diarrhoea with blood; it might be taken if the pain remains even after defecation.
  4. Nitricum acidum: This is used if there is diarrhoea with mucus and blood and stinging pains; it is also taken if there are chills coupled with irritable anxiety.
  5. Phosphorus: It is used to treat bloody and painless diarrhoea; it is also used to treat emotional oversensitivity to the feelings of others. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a homeopath.

Hello- Use of anabolic steroids can lead to hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism, with decreased serum concentrations of LH, FSH, and testosterone. These changes can interpret itself in the work of low sex drive , weak erection and early ejaculation. Fortunately the condition can be reversed and the effects of the steroid on the body can be minimized by the help of herbal supplementation.

Specific symptoms may vary based on what type of gallbladder condition you have, although many symptoms are common among the different types of gallbladder problems. But most gallbladder symptoms start with pain in the upper abdominal area, either in the upper right or middle. Below are common symptoms of gallbladder conditions: - severe abdominal pain - pain that may extend beneath the right shoulder blade or to the back - pain that worsens after eating a meal, particularly fatty or greasy foods - pain that feels dull, sharp, or crampy - pain that increases when you breathe in deeply. The safest and way that should be used to remove gall stones is removing it naturally, not just remove gall stones from gall bladder but also remove the cause of gall stones.

Fatty Liver - Signs You Are Suffering From It!

Post Graduate Diploma in Holistic Healthcare, PG Diploma Clinical research, Diploma in Medical Writing, MSc Biotechnology
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Bangalore
Fatty Liver - Signs You Are Suffering From It!

The liver is a key organ in metabolism and will have some amount of fat. However, excessive fat accumulation in the liver can be abnormal and is referred to as fatty liver. If the fat content exceeds anything more than 5% to 10% of the liver’s weight, it would be referred to as fatty liver.

Types - There are mainly two types based on causes:

  1. Alcoholic fatty liver: This is very common in people who consume excessive amounts of alcohol. Even a one-off instance of binge drinking can cause increased fat accumulation in the liver, but it would not produce any symptoms though. Preexisting hepatitis, pregnancy, obesity, and genetic predisposition may also lead to alcoholic liver disease.
  2. Non-alcoholic liver disease: This is the less common type of fatty liver, and there would be no alcoholic abuse history here. However, there could be genetic predisposition, obesity, autoimmune liver disease, malnutrition, which can lead to this condition.

Symptoms

Fatty liver disease is a chronic condition with insidious onset (meaning to say, the exact time of onset cannot be pinpointed). However, as the disease condition progresses, symptoms will become evident, which can trigger a medical evaluation to identify the fatty liver. Some of the symptoms include:

  1. Excessive fatigue and weakness
  2. Unexplained weight loss
  3. Loss of appetite
  4. Nausea
  5. Trouble focusing and concentrating
  6. Impaired judgment
  7. Constant, slow enlargement of the liver can cause pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen (where the liver is)
  8. There could be jaundice, where the skin and the white of the eyes turn pale yellow
  9. Symptoms of liver failure, including increased levels of proteins in the chemical tests.

Diagnosis

As noted earlier, it is not easy to identify liver disease, as there are no specific symptoms. However, the above symptoms could point to a potential fatty liver.

  1. Blood tests, especially for liver enzymes
  2. Ultrasound, where the liver is imaged to look for any structural changes
  3. Biopsy, where liver tissue is extracted to confirm the diagnosis of fatty liver

Treatment

There is no specific treatment for fatty liver. It can be managed through the following, where symptoms reduce in severity, and overall prognosis improves.

  1. Diabetes control: There is a relation between how well diabetes is controlled and severity of fatty liver. Improving diabetes control ensures fatty liver does not progress.
  2. Alcohol: Cutting down or even better quitting alcohol, definitely helps improve symptoms. If it is alcohol induced fatty liver, alcohol should be stopped.
  3. Weight management: Obesity and fatty liver are related, so weight management is essential.
  4. Healthy diet: Eating a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen also helps improve symptoms of fatty liver. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian-nutritionist.
