There is pain in my right eye lid near the above crease from about 3 days. When I touch my eye it aches but when I moving my eye ball in circular motion or in any direction I did not feel any pain. I do not understand why there is a sudden pain. Firstly I thought its conjunctivitis but it does not seem like that as its already been three days. Please help.

I Am 36 Yrs Male Having Eye Problem Like Redness In Eyes And HavingTrouble To Read News Paper Also.
Hello there are many causes for redness of eyes mainly allergy, infection, inflammation and dry eyes etc. 1. Redness + itching: allergy 2. Redness + pain + watering + decreased vision: infection 3. Redness + pain: inflammation 4. Redness foreign body sensation: dryness if there is only redness then it is normal as slight exposure to dust, temperature or air or eyes may be red in morning. Stress may also cause redness. I usually do not treat when there is only redness, you can 1. Blink a lot 2. Wash eyes with fresh water 3. Cold compresses 4. Use lubricating eye drop like flogel these measures will help to keep your eyes healthy but it will not have any effect on redness (treating general redness alone is not necessary also) having said that you should consult local ophthalmologist for proper examination and treatment.

Hello, get your eyes tested from an opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: vitamins a, c, e, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. Dha is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for strengthening eye muscles: -begin by partially closing your eyes; the lids should only be halfway shut. After holding for 10-15 seconds, close your eyes very slowly. Take a few deep breaths to increase oxygen in the blood. -warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. -hold a pen at arm's length. Focus your gaze on the tip of the pen. Bring the pen closer to your nose at a slow and steady pace. Repeat this exercise 5-10 times. -concentrate your vision on the tip of your nose. Then shift your gaze to an object further away, either at arm's length or 20 feet away. Then shift your eyes back to the tip of your nose. Repeat this exercise 10 times. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Begin by look to the left-most position (without moving your head) and hold to stretch your eye muscles. Hold for 5 counts. Blink and return your gaze back to look straight in front of you. Then look to the right-most position with your gaze and hold for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times, blinking between each hold. Then, repeat this exercise looking up and then down. Do not forget about blinking. -sit in a relaxed but upright position. Look up and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look up to and to your left for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your right for 5 seconds. Return your gaze to center. Look down and to your left for 5 seconds. -one helpful way to do this is to imagine that you are looking at the number 12 on a clock. Then, follow the numbers around the clock with your eyes. Repeat going the other way around the clock. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and then reducing the power of your eyes (if the eye power is less). Take physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month and instill euphrasia eye drops twice a day. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

I have glaucoma in my eye's past 9 yeas and lost my side vision. I am 40 year old any treatment for this?

MD - Ophthalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist,
For glaucoma once field loss is thrrr , this cannot be recovered. Treatment depends on various factors like intra ocular pressure, disc status snd visual fields. In early stages it would be medical therapy (eye drops) , in late stages it eould be surgery. Most important thing to note is aim of treatment is to preserve the present vision and visual fields and one should regularly consult your ophthslmologist to look into abovee factors.

Diet for EYESIGHT Lutein and zeaxanthin are both important nutrients for eye health,6 as both of them are found in high concentrations in your macula—the small central part of your retina responsible for detailed central vision. More specifically, lutein is also found in your macular pigment – known for helping to protect your central vision and aid in blue light absorption—and zeaxanthin is found in your retina.Estimated daily dose of lutein is 10 mg per day, and at 2 mg/day for zeaxanthin. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are primarily found in green leafy vegetables, although zeaxanthin is far scarcer than lutein. Kale and spinach are two of the most lutein-rich foods, but you'll also find it in carrots, squash, and other orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids called xanthophylls, which give plants and vegetables their yellow-orange color, and the name "lutein" comes from the Latin word "luteus," which means "yellow." If you remember this, it may help you pick out vegetables that are likely to contain higher amounts of these two nutrients. Egg yolk is another source of both lutein and zeaxanthin that is well absorbed by your body Most of the dark green leafy vegetables, previously recommended for a higher intake of lutein and zeaxanthin, have 15-47 percent of lutein, but a very low content (0-3 percent) of zeaxanthin. study shows that fruits and vegetables of various colors can be consumed to increase dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthi It is also important to note that lutein is an oil-soluble nutrient, so if you eat the vegetables without some oil or butter your body can't absorb the lutein. Adding a little bit of healthy fat, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or raw organic butter, will maximize your lutein absorption. Lutein content in food Food Mg / serving Orange ( Raw) 0.2/1 large Egg 0.2/1 large Spinach (cooked) 20.4 / 1 cup Papaya(Raw) 0.3/1 large Turnip greens (cooked) 12.2 / 1 cup Green peas (cooked) 4.1 / 1 cup Spinach (raw) 3.7 / 1 cup Corn (cooked) 1.5 / 1 cup Broccoli (raw) 1.3 / 1 cup Broccoli (cooked) 0.8 / 1/2 cup Green beans (cooked) 0.9 / 1 cup

Hello 1. Retinitis pigmentosa is a progressive disease 2. Speed of progression varies from person to person. I have seen patients going bling at young age of 30 years and I have seen patients having good vision even at age of 50 yrs. So, you can go for 6 months perimetry test and that will guide you the rate of progression.

Hello lybrate-user. Watering and redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care.

Eye irritation and burning. Wats best resolution. As I am working n continuous front of system.

Eye irritation and burning. Wats best resolution. As I am working n continuous front of system.
Computer screen is made up of hundreds of tiny pixels that are constantly moving. Our eyes in turn are not naturally able to set focus on these constantly moving pixels, and hence we try to focus on an area behind the actual screen. Therefore, while watching on a creen, our eyes need to keep on fluctuating focus between their natural point of focus and the pixels on the screen. And this tires the eyes and causes a lot of wear and tear.As a result, we suffer from irritation, which may range from a number of things like headaches, dry eyes, watering eyes,, blurred vision, problems in focusing and faulty color perception, to something as severe as glaucoma. Moreover it is more distressing for our eyes to view contents on a screen which requires even more concentration and extenive usage of eyes without blinking thus causing Eye dryness and Redness making them vulnerable to frequent Eye problemss. . The solution for this problem I its reduced usage of TV andd computers and use them inproper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computer screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computer usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine R-78 Drops ( Dr reckeweg) Drink 10 drops 3 times daily in 20 ml fresh water CINERIA MARITINA EYE DROPS( Dr Reckeweg) without alcohol.Pour 2-3 drops in both eyes 3 times daily. Dont splash water on eyes.

Depending on the actual amount of refractive error (eg -2.00, etc), and suitability of your eyes (determined by topography and pachymetry tests), it can be corrected by Lasers (LASIK, etc) or implantable lenses (ICL). Then one can become spectacle independent.

There are multiple causes responsible for diminution/ blurring of vision. Let me enumerate them in brief for you: (1) refractive error. This is one of the commonest reasons responsible. Minus or plus number in one eye or both eyes may be responsible for weak/ blurred vision. The solution for this is glasses/ contact lens/ refractive surgery (if applicable). It should be checked by a trained optometrist/ ophthalmologist and proper glasses should be prescribed. (2) cornea related problem: injury, degeneration, infections or inflammation occurring on the cornea tend to causes loss of transparency and lead to weakening of vision. These should be assessed preferably by a cornea specialist and treated appropriately. (3) cataract in the lens of the eye: this usually occurs with increasing age but in some cases may occur at a younger age. There are multiple systemic factors responsible (eg. Diabetes, increased cholesterol levels, etc) injury to the eye may also cause cataract. This should be assessed and treated appropriately by a cataract specialist. (4) retina/ vitreous problems: these occur due to a variety of reasons such as high minus numbers, diabetes, trauma, etc. These issues are best assessed and treated by a retina specialist. There are good quality surgical options available for the same. (5) optic nerve related problems: these may occur due to raised eye pressure (glaucoma), or occur in association with certain conditions related to the brain and the blood vessels. These are best assessed by a retina/ glaucoma specialist (whichever applicable). (6) neurological problems: certain problems in the brain and the central nervous system tend to cause weakening/ blurring of vision. These are best assessed by an eye specialist in concordance with a neurologist and a neurosurgeon if required. Thus, based on the category you fall under, it would be necessary to take appropriate help and treatment. Hope my suggestions helped you. Let me know if you require further assistance. Take care.

Dear lybrateuser, drinking warm water in the morning is good, one or two glasses is good enough for you. It is more beneficial if you add lemon & a teaspoon of honey to it (do not add honey if you have high blood sugar).
