Hello, Use Homeodent toothpaste twice daily, morning and night before sleep. Use this home remedy to get strong teeth :- 1. Add a little water to ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder to make a paste. Brush your teeth with it, a few times a week. 2. Alternatively, prepare a paste with 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and ½ teaspoon each of salt and mustard oil. Massage it on your teeth and gums once daily. 3. You can also boil ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder in 1 cup of water, allow it to cool and use it as a mouthwash once daily.

Dear Lybrate user, the grey black stain is not due to pomegranate. It could be something stuck on your teeth or a developing cavity which you hadn't noticed before or it could be a normal external stain on the tooth that will come out after scaling/professional cleaning. Consult your dentist for a checkup.

Hello, you can add a pinch of baking soda in water an rinse with it. This will help to heal your ulcers. If it still persists you need to visit a physician and get your vitamin B levels checked. Take supplements for it if required.

Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. Dry mouth also can cause bad breath. Smoking or chewing tobacco-based products also can cause bad breath, you may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then.

Even after proper brushing, if you are having the problem of bad breath, you might be suffering from vitamin c deficiency. Vitamin c deficiency leads to spongy and bleeding gums. Even though the bleeding is not visible, there could be a micro-vascular bleeding which is not seen with naked eyes. There is a secondary bacterial infection in the gums which leads to the problem of bad breath. You should take citrus fruits like oranges, lemon, etc. It is good if you take an orange a day for at least 15 days and let me know the result. Hope it helps.

Fluoride Treatments - "Extra Protection for Your Teeth"

BDS
Dentist, Pune
Fluoride Treatments - "Extra Protection for Your Teeth"

Dental caries (tooth decay) is caused by acid-producing bacteria that collect around the teeth and gingivae (gums) in a sticky, clear film called “plaque.” Without good daily oral hygiene and regular dental visits, teeth become more vulnerable to caries. Brushing twice a day and cleaning between teeth with floss or another type of interdental cleaner help remove plaque. Regular dental examinations and cleanings also are important for keeping teeth healthy.

Another key to good oral health is fluoride, a mineral that helps prevent caries and can repair teeth in the very early, microscopic stages of the disease.

Fluoride can be obtained in two forms: topical and systemic.

TOPICAL AND SYSTEMIC FLUORIDES

Topical fluorides are applied directly to the tooth enamel. Some examples include fluoride toothpastes and mouthrinses, as well as fluoride treatments in the dental clinic.

Systemic fluorides are those that are swallowed. Examples include fluoridated water and dietary fluoride supplements. The maximum reduction in dental caries is achieved when fluoride is available both topically and systemically.

Dentists have used in-office fluoride treatments for decades to help protect the oral health of children and adults, especially patients who may be at a higher risk of developing caries. Some factors that may increase a person’s risk of developing caries include the following:

  • poor oral hygiene;
  • active caries;
  • eating disorders;
  • drug or alcohol abuse;
  • lack of regular professional dental care;
  • active orthodontic treatment combined with poor oral hygiene;
  • high levels of caries-causing bacteria in the mouth;
  • exposed root surfaces of teeth;
  • decreased salivary flow, resulting in dry mouth;
  • poor diet; dexisting restorations (fillings); tooth enamel defects;

undergoing head and neck radiation therapy.

PROFESSIONAL FLUORIDE TREATMENT

If you, or a family member, are at a moderate-to high risk of developing caries, a professional fluoride treatment can help. The fluoride preparation used in the "Smile Up Dental Care & Implant Center " dental clinic is a much stronger concentration than that in toothpastes or fluoride mouthrinses that may be available in a store or at a pharmacy.

Professional fluoride treatments generally take just a few minutes. The fluoride may be in the form of a solution, gel, foam or varnish. Typically, it is applied with a cotton swab or brush, or it is used as a rinse or placed in a tray that is held in the mouth for several minutes.

After the treatment, you may be asked not to rinse, eat or drink for at least 30 minutes to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride and help repair microscopic carious areas.

Depending on your oral health status, fluoride treatments may be recommended every three, six or 12 months. Your dentist also may recommend additional preventive measures if you are at a moderate or high risk of developing caries. These measures may include over-the-counter or prescription therapeutic products such as fluoride mouthrinses, gels or antibacterial mouthrinses.

I am suffering from dental problem when ever I am brushing my teeth blood is coming can you suggest any medicine.
Medicines alone donot help majority of dental probs n I need definitive treatment by dentist. Gums bleeding is due to infection in gums. Get scalling done by dentist. Use proper brushing techniques. Brush, floss n use mouthwash twice daily. Massage your gums with your finger tips after brushing. Keep your tongue clean. Rinse your mouth well after each meal. Visit your dentist for dental checkups every 6 months to detect n prevent dental probs.

Should I drink water after or before brushing teeth when I wake up? please give reasons also.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Should I drink water after or before brushing teeth when I wake up? please give reasons also.
As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160 ml glasses of water. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours. Drinking water before you eat anything can help purify your body's internal system. In fact, this can aid in colon cleansing, so that the nutrients that enter your body will be absorbed better. When you drink water early in the morning, this encourages the production of hematopoiesis, which is also called new blood. There is evidence proving that drinking water on an empty stomach can be amazingly helpful in treating numerous diseases, including: headache, pain in any part of the body, cardiovascular disorders and diseases, tachycardia, epilepsy, increased blood fat levels, bronchitis, asthma, tuberculosis, meningitis, kidney .Water is very good for you. There is always a reason behind you drink water before you brush your teeth. It is not considered as you drink water before you brush your teeth it should be like you should have it just after getting up from your bed after a long night sleep. If you do this than 1. It will keep an acidity away 2. It will help to reduce the constipation problem & will clean your stomach 3. It will also help to reduce the acne or pimples on your face if you have & help to improve your skin 4. It will help to get all the heat out from your body through urine 5. It will give you the healthier & fresh day than ever you have had till now. Try having water kept in copper vessel for the whole night.
