Hello, This is very normal and part of healthy pregnancy. Please take small, frequent meals with lots of fruits, drink plenty of water and take adequate rest (at least 2 hours in the afternoon and 8 hours in the night). The sleepiness is due to hormonal changes of pregnancy.

Hello, My sister is 21 years old and was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years back. In PCOS it is said to minimize the intake of dairy products such as milk and all. I want to know what substitutes she can get instead to maintain my calcium levels. Also suggest a suitable diet for PCOS removal. Thanks.

Hi, PCOS is a lifestyle disorder wherein you primarily need to reduce body weight and increase physical activity. Diet may be modified by avoiding high fat /junk food. You may avoid full cream milk but you can certainly have toned milk/ cow milk. Also have high proteins like paneer, soya, fresh fruits, salads,.

Your wife can use Cu-T 380Ag as she is young. It's very safe and lasts 10 years without any hormonal side effects. It is long term and easily reversible method. Another very good option is male sterilization/no scalpel vasectomy. It is a simple day care procedure with no associated difficulties. You may discuss with your obstetrician what suits you best. Hope I could help you. Take care.

Hello lybrate-user, I am sure you have been advised bed rest with leg end raised, medicines to support the pregnancy, to avoid exercise, weightlifting and abstinence etc. All these measures are to avoid a pregnancy loss. Please follow the advice, get regular antenatal check ups. I pray that you have a healthy and safe pregnancy.

You can start yoga and light exercises. Since you must be exclusively breast feeding at present, dietary restrictions should not be used. Go for a walk daily. Within next 3 months, you will see the desired result.

If you are in a setup where continuous fetal heart monitoring during labor is available, you may try a normal delivery. A single/double loop of cord around neck is not an absolute indication for caesarean section. However, an operative delivery may be required if there's non reassuring fetal heart rate during pains/ any other maternal morbidity.

Good morning Dr. My wife is 26 years old now, and she is pregnant for 13 weeks now. My friend suggested NT scan is good at this point in time to know the internal structure of baby and any abnormalities as well. Can you please suggest how effective is that scan. What do you suggest is it plain NT scan or NT scan with blood test. What could be the accuracy of the report. Thank you in advance. Regards, Satish.

NB/NT (Level 1) scan is one of the two most important USGs to be done during a pregnancy, the other being an anomaly (Level 2) scan at 18-20 weeks. Combined with the dual test, it has almost 90% of detecting genetic defects in the baby.

Dear lybrate-user, Several factors are considered before proceeding with normal delivery. If only baby weight is the issue here, According to your height, a trial of labour may be given. However, This is my personal opinion. The examining doctor who has assessed you is the best person to decide the final mode of delivery. Also, for induction of artificial pain, we do it at 7 days past your due date, if you have not gone into spontaneous labour by then. Please trust your treating obstetrician as they know all facets of your condition. Wish you a safe and healthy pregnancy! ☺

If not covering internal os, majority of low-lying placenta migrate upwards by 7th month of pregnancy. Till then, your wife should take precautions like avoiding heavy work/exercises/weight lifting etc and abstinence. Low lying placenta carries a Risk of sudden painless bleeding anytime during the pregnancy and may require a caesarean section for delivery if it persists till term. In case of sudden bleeding, it is extremely risky for both mother and baby.

Hi, your husband has to be tested for the same. If he too has the trait, your baby has 25% of having Thalessemia and 50% chance of being a thalessemia carrier. During pregnancy, you should look out for anaemia and it's effects. Chances are you will an uneventful pregnancy.

Not a good idea to have sweets when you have diabetes! Diabetes in pregnancy is a highrisk pregnancy. Please take care of yourself and have regular antenatal check ups to keep your sugar levels under control.

Please use a contraception, cu-t / multiload is a good option, and this is the correct time for cu-t insertion. If your wife is comfortable and not in pain, you may resume physical intimacy.

I wanna ask that how we should shave our private place. With eraser, soap or veet cream.

Clipping your hair using scissors is the best way as skin is very delicate and sensitive. Using chemical preparations over a long time may cause problems later.
