Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management (tell him to do): - Try to rest the eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash hands, hold clean water in hand, keep eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the water. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T.V., working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while out in sun. Medication: Homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter.

Working on computer at a stretch for long hours puts a great strain on your eyes and thatswhy your eye are itching and watering.Your problemis aggravated by masturbation habit as frequent massturbation causes nervous weakness and you will remain exhausted and worn out all the time.So you must control watching porm and massturbation. Secondly reduced usage of computed and mobile and while using computor/mobile use in proper light. There is nothing more effective than controlling usage to reduce and negate the effects. You can also reduce the intensity of the computor/mobile screen by attaching a filter or by getting an eye-friendly screen. Above all, one must try to reduce the amount of computor usage or take frequent breaks. Homoeopathic medicine CINELUBE EYE DROPS ( HAPDCO) Pour 2 drops 3 times daily.

Eye strain, or asthenopia, is when the eyes get tired from excessive or intense use. It can be annoying, but it tends to disappear with rest. Although it’s not often a serious condition, eye strain could be a symptom of an underlying problem. Eye strain is known to cause fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and headaches Eye strain may lead to other problems, such as: • Headaches • Difficulty Concentrating • Irritability • Burning Sensation • Watery Eyes • Dry Eyes • Photophobia • Eye Pain HomeTreatment for Eye Strain 1. The first thing you can do is change your environment and work habits. By doing this you can relieve the pain without spending money on treatment. If you work on the computer, try taking more eye breaks by looking down the hall or out the window, or by closing your eyes for thirty seconds. You should get your eyes checked at least once a year, especially as you grow older. Routine eye exams give you the opportunity to discuss with your Eye Specialist any issues you may be having, and they may enable you to catch any problems in their early stages. Age Frequency 0 to 6 months Minimum of once a year 6 months to 18 years Every 2 – 4 years 19 to 39 years Every 3 – 5 years 40 to 64 years Every 2 – 4 years 65 and older Every 1 – 2 years If you spend a lot of time sitting in front of a computer or reading, you may need prescription glasses solely for those activities. Homoeopathic CINELUBE EYEDROPS ( HAPDCO) 3 times daily.

Could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power.

Sagging Eyelids Surgery: What Should You Know?

M.Ch - Plastic Surgery

Sagging Eyelids Surgery: What Should You Know?

Eyes are believed to be the most attractive feature in a person. A pair of beautiful eyes can melt millions of hearts. Skin ageing and its consequences can throw life in jeopardy. Sagging eyelids are one such unwanted consequence. With ageing, the skin loses its elasticity to a great extent.

There is an increased skin accumulation around the upper and lower eyelids. As a result, the eyelids become sagging and droopy. Sagging eyelids can be annoying, affecting a person's overall appearance and self-confidence. In extreme cases, it interferes with the normal vision of the affected individual. Eye irritation is also common.

Thus, the problem needs to be treated at the earliest. Blepharoplasty or the eyelid surgery comes as a huge relief. Here, the surgery is mainly performed to enhance an individual's appearance. To treat sagging eyelids, it is important to get rid of the accumulated skin, loose muscles and fat pads. Procedure is done under local anesthesia.

For upper eyelids, the surgeon makes small punctures along the line of the eyelids. These punctures act as the exit points for the unwanted skin, muscles and fats. Following the removal of the skin present in excess, the punctures are carefully stitched. In case of the lower eyelids, the fat pads are removed through an incision made inside the eyelids. The excess skin can also be eliminated through an incision made along the margin of the eyelashes. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon.

My eyes are swollen red and itchy especially when I strain my eyes (ie. During exams and when using laptops). I consulted a doctor and they directed me to use specs (since I am having a power of 0.5 on right and 0.25 on left). I am taking vitamin tablets (surbex T) and eye ointment (FLOMO) now. Doctor told me to continue this for two months. I am using this for the last 4 weeks and problem is still existing.

Hello. I think you have allergic conjunctivitis. 1. Eye allergies, called allergic conjunctivitis, are a common condition that occurs when the eyes react to something that irritates them (called an allergen). 2. The eyes produce a substance called histamine to fight off the allergen. As a result, the eyelids and conjunctiva (the thin, filmy membrane that covers the inside of your eyelids) become red, swollen and itchy, with tearing and burning. The key to treating eye allergies is a. Avoid or limit contact with the substance causing the problem. B. Avoid rubbing eyes instead do cold compresses. Use antiallergic eyedrop along with lubricating eyedrop. This will help you I am very sorry dear to say that there is no medicine that can cure allergy. Only way is to stay away from all those things that you are allergic to.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 18 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.

I am 34 year old male from delhi. I am suffering from floaters in both eyes for about 16 months now. Otherwise my eyesight is perfect so I don't wear glasses. I have shown to a very reputed retina specialist twice and they say my eyes are ok. But they can not help for the floaters. Please advise.

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
Sometimes floaters happen due to degeneration in the vitreous. If the retina specialist has done an indirect ophthalmoscopy and cleared you then you do not have to worry. It is also possible that you are just appreciating normal entoptic phenomenon where sometimes we can see the blood cells that pass through the retinal blood vessels. So as I said if the reitna specialist has given you clearance, there is no need for worry.

Hello. Glaucoma is a condition usually caused by raised intra-ocular pressure that affects the field of vision in the eye. I am sure that appropriate medications must have been prescribed to keep the eye pressure under control. Coming to your question, I would like to suggest a few precautions and a few exercises to avoid raising the intra-ocular pressure. Avoid exercises that raise your eye pressure: (1) certain breathing exercises (eg. Pranaayam, valsalva technique-the art of exhaling with closed mouth as well as pinched nose) tend to increase the intra-ocular pressure. This should be avoided strictly by patients who have glaucoma. (2) lifting heavy weight should be avoided. This is because carrying heavy objects (more than 5 to 6 kilograms) would tend to increase the intra-ocular pressure. (3) exercises involving vigorous jumping should be avoided. (4) at times, high altitude (mountain travel) may cause increased intra-ocular pressure. This should preferably be avoided. To conclude, glaucoma can be controlled but to get complete cure is honestly not possible. Likewise, taking adequate care and regular follow-up with your eye specialist should be sufficient to keep it under control. It is sometimes a hereditary problem. Thus, children of parents suffering from glaucoma should get their eyes checked regularly as well. Similarly, grand children should also get their eyes screened to rule out glaucoma or its effects. Hope my suggestions help you, take care, regards.
