Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back Stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day. Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Hi, Required the opinion from expert. My friend was diagnosed with slip disc in L5S1 lumbar region. Few days back, his movement has badly affected. After having MRI and hip X ray, it was diagnosed the onset of osteoarthritis with slip disc. Pls suggest on urgent basis, which doctor to be consulted for immediate relief. Also advise, can it be cured without surgery.

Thank you for posting this query. You can take advice from an orthopaedic or pain specialist. It is not clear if the arthritis you are mentioning is in hip joint or spine or elsewhere. If it is the spine then Neurosurgeon can also be approached for advice. The management will depend on the symptoms, their severity and the investigation findings. There are nonsurgical options but further evaluation is required to assess if they would be appropriate in this case or not. Hope you find the right solution soon. Best wisher for a speedy recovery of your friend.

I am a 35 years female doctor having low back pain on the left side more prominent in bending.

Hi, First thing to do in back pain is to avoid forward bending. If you have localized back pain with - no neurological symptoms like numbness, paresthesia, weakness in limbs etc, my advice is: - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a physiotherapist and then at home. - avoid forward bending, lifting heavy weights etc - take an analgesic like diclofenac or something which suits your body for 5-7 days - take muscle relaxant for same time as analgesic to relieve muscle spasm - ice packs at the site of pain, muscle spasm - local analgesic spray can be used but no massage is required let me know in a week time how you are feeling. I will actually ask you to get x ray of involved region of spine (ap & lateral) and send reports across to me so that I can advise further in a better manner. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hello sir my mother aged 65 had a knee replacement of both sides 1 year ago, before 3-4 months she has pain in the left knee, after taking the tests and xray the local doctors advice us to go for surgery as there is bacterial infection and looseting of metal part. What is your advice thanks

Hi I can understand your problem. For pain and swelling apply cold pack for 20 min. Thrice a day for 5 days. There are various reasons for arm pain and there are different non surgical treatment options for same in physiotherapy. check for vit d, b12, uric acid apply hot fermentation specially at night do stretching of calf muscle take proper nutrition and eater intake as u having low soduim and potassium

Apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take 1-1 tab mahayograj guggul twice a day. Take maharasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Avoid junk food. Fermented food. Spicy food. Take green vegetables. Do exercises. Do pranayama early in the morning. Drink minimum 7-8 glass of water everyday. Take 7hrs sleep minimum.
