I have pains in both the legs I if I stand for at least3 minutes then it stays hurting what should I do?
: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

DOCTOR ADVISED BED REST FOR BACK PAIN ?

THE PROCEDURES BED REST 

Sometimes a back problem is too inflamed for exercises to start. When this is the case, the ideal approach is to rest in bed with medication, doing hours of exercises throughout the day.Bed rest simply means going tobed, which is usually hard to do. The adjustment in people’s lives is never easy and invariably you think there must be an easier way. But to do it properly you simply must rest.

Furthermore, you have to give yourself over to the notion of doing nothing,with an attitude of abandon rather than frustration, otherwise you will get nowhere.With cases of severe inflammation, there can be a build-up of treatment soreness which mimics the original pain. If the condition is chronic, the increase in pain is tolerable, but if the segment is acutely inflamed, it will seem as if the treatment has made you worse. Bed rest lets the dust settle. The peaceful periods between the hard work let the inflammation subside and allow your back to recuperate so therapy can go on.

Bed rest also eliminates the compression of gravity, which,as a first measure, starts the un-jamming of the spinal link. This first step usually makes the worst of the pain start to fade. Apart from relieving the local engorgement of the problem link, the horizontal resting eases the spasm of the spinal muscles. As they relax, the pain eases as the circulation picks up.

 There is better natural sluicing of toxic inflammatory products away from the local nerve endings and the pain is no longer ever-present. As the protective spasm eases, the restorative process gathers pace.

I am having pain in my left feet on back side. When I stretch my feet, only then I feel pain. I have done my xray and there is no fracture. Is there any way to know the cause of the pain.

Do wax bath therapy + IFT therapy @ 15 days over there ok heal to feet area use soft sole shoe now take rest for 20 days ok use choamote avoid sit on floor.

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, this may be a condition called as" hypertrichosis" this is usually a marker of underlying spinal maldevelopment (spinal dysraphism). Please see a physician who will be able to examine you and determine if this is indeed the problem and prescribe the necessary tests. Regards.

My father has gone cervical laminectomy and also he is recovering from depression due to symptoms of cervical. But after surgery, now its 3 months, he still feel weak. He sometimes not able to stand in toilet, when he sits on feet. Is it will take time? Or some thing you want to suggest to make weakness improve at faster rate?

Any limb weakness present before surgery may take upto an year even after adequate surgical decompression. The duration and degree of recovery also depend on the time lag between onset of symptoms and the surgery. Expect a good recovery with regular physiotherapy.

Your wife most probably has osteoarthritis with an acute inflammatory flare. The diagnosis needs to confirmed. If in fact she has osteoarthritis then she needs to be assessed for comorbidities and needs to be put on an intensive exercise program with control of pain using safe pain modfiying medications instead of pain killers. Hi You need to do some exercise for ankle joint .it take time. If you think it not improving then you consult to physio and learn exercise.

It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation. Paracetamol 250 mg od & sos x 5 days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, inform Kindly show me the x ray.

Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front.
