After child birth till now not get menstrual cycle so we had sex, What we need to do? Now breastfeeding full time and now completed 60 days. Please advice.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
Till you are fully breastfeeding, the body provides natural contraception, since egg release is prevented. As the number of feeds and quantity of milk reduces after 6th month, a chance ovulation may escape, and result in pregnancy. So if you haven't got your cycles yet, it may be safe. After 4th month start using a regular pill.

I want to conceive in May 2017. I had blood test results recently :Glucose fasting 109 mg/dl, TSH 11.64 ,and vit D 10.13,vit B12 198.2. Kindly advise as I want to ready my body for pregnancy in a month. I am worried about my high TSH levels. Will it affect and how to cure.

It is good that you have done all the tests well in advance. It gives us time to correct the abnormalities. You will require treatment for hypothyroidism in the form of a daily tablet. Its dose can be decided only after examining you. Also, your fasting blood sugar is in the borderline range. Get your 2 hour post lunch blood sugar as well as Hba1c checked. It will tell us whether you require medications or not. All the best!

I got married 1 year back still my wife not pregnant. I just want to ask which is the best time have sex.

MS sexuality, M.Phil Clinical Psychology, PhD (behaviour modification), Certified in Treatment of Resistant Depression
Sexologist, Hyderabad
First of all please relax, stress causes interference in ovulation and spermatogensis. The best time to get pregnant. You're most likely to get pregnant if you have sex within a day or so of ovulation (releasing an egg from the ovary). This is usually about 14 days after the first day of your wife's last period, ifher cycle is around 28 days long. An egg lives for about 12-24 hours after being released.

Hi lybrate-user, PCOD is syndrome it's not completely treatable you need to treat as per symptoms. You should have healthy balance diet avoid junk food, bakery products, rice. Have high protein and low carbohydrate diet. Share details of clinical history and investigations you had done if conceiving is the issue.

I have minor bleeding from my uterus what is the reason just tell me and also I had taken ipill before 12 days I am pregnant or not.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Guwahati
Hello, the bleeding is due to hormonal withdrawal. The ipill contains a high dose of progesterone, a hormone which causes the inner uterine lining (the endometrium) to grow. After a few days of taking the ipill, the hormonal level decreases and there may be bleeding from the endometrium. If you have taken the ipill within 24 hours of sexual intercourse, the chances of pregnancy are low. Please get a pregnancy test after 16 days of intercourse to check for pregnancy.

I had sex with 2 girl without protection yesterday I had sex with my wife i am very scared can I diagnose with hiv or hiv western bolt what is that western bolt? How hiv occur how its effect on body? Shall I now sex with my wife in future?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
If the two girls are commercial sex workers, then you must be on guard. Unprotected sex with any unknown partner can be a high risk activity and may result in transmission of hiv infection. As per your saying, you had unprotected sex with 2 girls and also had sex with your wife, this act of yours is very irresponsible one. When a person comes in sexual contact with a hiv infected person, the hiv virus can enter the body. Hiv virus is intracellular virus, it needs a cell to multiply body immunity helps in fighting the hiv virus and can keep the virus destroyed, unless the virus has multiplied in vast quantities and has damaged the" protective" white blood cells. This takes time. If the infection is well controlled then the elisa will be negative. That a person is free from hiv, can be said with confidence only after 2 elisa tests 6 months apart, and both being negative. The earliest marker is hiv viral load. This is in the first weeks after infection (usually from 1 to 6 weeks after exposure). A high viral load is related to seroconversion symptoms. The first hiv protein (antigen) that can be measured is p24 (from 2 to 8 weeks after exposure). Viral load and p24 tests are not accurate for diagnosing early hiv if the results are negative. An hiv antibody response can be detected as early as two weeks in a few people and in more than 99.9% of people by 12 weeks. An antibody test at 4 weeks will detect 95% of infections. Antibody testing at 4 weeks can give you a good indication of your hiv status, but you need a test at 12-24 weeks after the exposure to be considered hiv negative. All this will matter if those 2 girls were hiv positive! if they are negative, there will not be any chances of you or your wife getting hiv also, it would be better to abstain from sex with your wife or anybody for the next 6 months or if that is not possible, then a condom with a spermicidal coating is the best option.

Doctor ji, does any diseases spread to partner wile kissing each other through saliva when exchanges?

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- You could get a cold, the flu, mono, HIV, or the herpes virus through kissing if the other person is infected. You can also spread meningitis through saliva. Oral microbiota (found in the saliva and on the tongue) and bacteria (in the saliva) — which can lead to gum disease — can be transmitted through frequent kissing.

Hi Doctor, Greetings for the day. My questions are little bit bolt but must know info for any people. Please excuse me for that. I have tested for the HIV and result is -ve and my life partner too. I read from a article that if we use condoms while doing sex, Chances of women getting pregnant is nill. Then 1) please suggest whether it is safe to do sex without any protection in this case? 2) Also please suggest whether it is safe, if female insert penis in the mouth and swallow semen, In this case male have wear any protection? 3) And is that safe intake female semen? 4) Also please suggest what are the things we should avoid in order to keep away from any future infections and STD's.

Use of condom serves dual purpose of preventing pregnancy and std. Not using will reverse the effect. You can have intercourse without condom. Oral sex is not uncommon, depending on desires of partner, provided neither of you has oral or penile ulcers & not harbouring hepatitis b. Swallowing of healthy semen is of no consequence. & vice versa. Be monogamous & adopt healthy life stylr. Ensure sterility of syringe & needles while taking any injection.

Pregnancy period ke kitne din baad or pehle ho sakti hai ? please help me because my period is too late.

DGO, MD, MRCOG, CCST, Accredation in Colposcopy
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
You need to do a urine pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant. These kits are usually very sensitive and if properly stored and done they can diagnose pregnancy soon after missing periods. If your periods are irregular it is best to repeat it in 1-2 weeks

Please repeat a urine pregnancy test next week in a morning sample of urine. If still negative you need to consider progesterone tablets to initiate a withdrawl bleed.
