Hello. You haven't mentioned about whether you are breast-feeding your child? Is it your first child? Patience and communication with your partner are very important. Depending on your plans for future pregnancy, there are a number of birth control (contraceptive methods) available. Don’t forget to protect yourself from pregnancy until you are ready for another child, as well as using condoms for infection protection if this is a newer relationship. Speak to your health care provider about any questions specific to your situation. Below is a list pointing out the special considerations in the postpartum period. Oral contraceptive pill (OCP) Can be started at 3 weeks if not breastfeeding The combined pill (estrogen + a progestin) can decrease breast milk production so should not be started until at least 6 weeks postpartum. The Progestin-Only Pill does not affect milk supply and can be used during breastfeeding. When combined with the decreased fertility of breastfeeding, it makes a great choice for breastfeeding Moms. Contraceptive Patch or Vaginal Ring Similar to the combined OCP; start at 3 weeks if not breastfeeding or 6 + weeks if breastfeeding Injection Depo-Provera™ One shot every 12 weeks Can be given immediately postpartum regardless of breastfeeding No known effects on breast milk or infant ingestion of the hormone Intrauterine Device or Intrauterine System Inserted into uterus by a doctor more than 6 weeks after delivery Reliable, long-term birth control for up to 5 years but can be removed at any time The hormonal intrauterine system is as effective as tubal ligation Barrier Methods Hormone-free, only needed when you are actually having sex Condoms can be used anytime, and are commonly used temporarily while breastfeeding or to space out babies Use non-spermicidal condoms with lots of extra water-based lubricant to avoid vaginal irritation Diaphragms and cervical caps need to be re-fitted at 6 weeks postpartum Emergency Contraception Emergency Contraception (EC) pills are effective up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse but best if used within the first 24-48 hours. Emergency IUD is available up to 7 days after unprotected intercourse Sterilization Female sterilization = tubal ligation Permanent; only for couples who are absolutely sure their family is complete Abdominal surgery Can be performed the day after delivery while still in hospital through a 2 – 3 cm incision at the belly button Or, laparoscopically through one or 2 small incisions after 6 weeks Or hysteroscopically, where two small coils are placed in the openings of the tubes into the uterus Male sterilization = vasectomy Permanent; only for couples who are absolutely sure their family is complete An outpatient procedure Less risk and more effective than tubal ligation

Hello- I pill induce strong uterine contractions and hence abort accidental pregnancy. If you haven't faced any bleeding since you took I pill, it is fairly possible that it has been failed and you might be pregnant. Do Urine pregnancy test at home for further confirmation.

My wife is first month pregnant, can we have sex during pregnancy, is there any chance of miscarriage.
Please advice
If your doctor has advised for some reason not to have sex, if there is any complication in your wife's ultrasound like a low placenta, or a previous miscarriage, or threatened abortion history or previous preterm labour, then avoid it. If there is no such complication then it is ok but be gentle.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology

If not relieved by itchguard, you definitely need to show it some doctor specially skin specialist or a gynecologist. Usually this redness and itching is associated with fungal infection which should have been relieved by itch-guard.

Hello, there is no pregnancy at all as you have been having regular monthly periods since feb 17th and your last menses started by 13th april. So you are completely pregnancy safe. The symptoms that you have been experiencing poor to menses have been due to premenstrual syndrome which is normal in most women.

I am 6 months pregnant with low lying placenta. Do I have to take complete bed rest? If yes, then what complications I will face if I will not take rest?

M.B.S.(HOMEO), MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Visakhapatnam
I am 6 months pregnant with low lying placenta. Do I have to take complete bed rest? If yes, then what complications ...
Low-lying placenta, or placenta praevia, is a complication of pregnancy where the placenta that feeds the growing baby is attached to the lower part of the womb near to or covering the cervix. Low-lying placenta may be picked up during a routine 20-week ultrasound scan appointment. You can't do anything to change the position of your placenta. But you can do a lot to stay healthy and well. Eat plenty of nutritious foods, particularly those that are rich in iron, such as red meat, pulses and green leafy vegetables. This will reduce your chances of becoming anaemic. If your iron levels are low, your doctor or midwife may recommend that you take iron supplements. If you’re in hospital, keep your circulation going to help prevent blood clots. Try to move around, drink plenty of water, and use compression stockings if your midwife offers them to you. If you have placenta praevia and are waiting to see if your placenta moves up, it's bound to be a worrying time for you. Rest assured you will have the most experienced doctors available to care for you and your baby. In the meantime, learn what's involved in a caesarean section.

How to ged rid of pcod problem.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), PGDHHM, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
Here is no cure for pcod or pcos, it needs to be managed to prevent problems. Treatment goals are based on your symptoms, whether or not you want to become pregnant, and lowering your chances of getting heart disease and diabetes. Many women will need a combination of treatments to meet these goals. Some treatments for pcod include: lifestyle modification. You can help manage your pcod by eating healthy and exercising to keep your weight at a healthy level. Limiting processed foods and foods with added sugars adding more whole-grain products, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats to your diet birth control pills. For women who don't want to get pregnant, birth control pills can help control menstrual cycles and to clear acne for women looking for pregancy: lack of ovulation is usually the reason for fertility problems in women with pcod. Several medications that stimulate ovulation can help women with pcod become pregnant. It is advised that you should consult gynecologist who can help you based on your symptoms and requirements to manage pcod.
