I am hypertensive for which I was prescribed Amlodipine. How long should I continue with Ca channel blocker at this age or should I take some other drug for raised BP? What would you suggest.

CLINICAL CARDIOLOGY, MD - Consultant Physician
Cardiologist, Surat
Hi. For anybody who has raised bp at a younger age, thorough investigation are to be done to look for cause of bp. Just taking bp pills is not the solution. Discuss about this with your doctor. Also, first make sure that your bp is really raised all time. Many times, bp rises temporarily due to apprehension, fear or anxiety. You can consider 24 hours ambulatory bp monitoring test. Take care.
