I am suffering from vision problem. Often feel headache and tired. What I need to do. I have to spend my time in study.
I am feeling like my eys are burning. It's increasing time by time for about 6 hrs. How can I get relief from this?
Diabetes mellitus a multisystem disorder is on the increase. One of its microvascular complications is retinopathy. Studies have shown that the chances of developing of retinopathy are significantly more in uncontrolled diabetics that in controlled ones. Also, the severity of the retinopathy is more in uncontrolled diabetics.
The duration of diabetes also is correlated with retinopathy as demonstrated by studies. It has been shown that more the duration of diabetes more will be the chances of developing diabetic retinopathy and more severe would be the disease.
Also, diabetic retinopathy develops more frequently and with more severity in those not taking treatment for diabetes.
The recommendations for retina examination of diabetics are as follows - for type 2 - it is at the time of diagnosis and then yearly and for type 1 - five years after diagnosis or at 30 years of age (whichever is earlier. Pregnant patients with diabetes should have a four weekly fundus examination as pregnancy is found to accelerate diabetic changes in the eye.
In the background of these findings, it is recommended that early diagnosis, early initiation of treatment, good control of diabetes and regular follow-up of the patients is a must for prevention and early diagnosis and appropriate treatment of diabetic retinopathy, a microvascular complication of diabetes.
The need of the hour is, therefore, to control diabetes with appropriate treatment as early as possible to prevent the occurrence of one of diabetes important microvascular complication which is diabetic retinopathy. Also, patients with longer duration of diabetes require appropriate treatment and regular examination to prevent and detect retinopathy at the earliest so that morbidity related to it can be avoided/managed at the earliest and in the most appropriate way.
