Seems like a lumbar disc and you should get yourself screened for seronegative arthritis, by doing an ESR and HLA B 27 (BOTH ARE BLOOD TESTS. If they are negative you can continue with physiotherapy treatment. Intermittent pelvic traction and interferential therapy for your low back.

Hello Doctor, my mom has pain in her knees ( that is called "Bai ka dard") .She is 48. She is suffering this since 2 years. Is there any medicine to control that?

Vaidya Visharad

Dear, According to Ayurveda joint pain is known as Sandhigata vata. With increase in age vata dosha is predominant in human body that is why with aging disease caused by vata dosha increases in body. Joint pain is a common symptom with many possible causes. Joint Pain and Arthritis are the one of the most devastating conditions faced by individuals, particularly elderly women today. When there is pure Vata dosha involvement (a pain without swelling or discoloration) then the massage with medicated ayurvedic oil is quite useful & supplement is helpful in balancing bodily humors ?vata, which is responsible dosha for Sandhigata vata . I fell down while jogging about 15 days back. I hurt my left upper arm and right knee. Initially I gave them rest and my knee improved substantially. I can walk, climb stairs and do everything except kneeling for yoga exercise. My arm even now I can't fully lift sideways though this too has improved. I am 53 years old. Before this fall I used to regularly jog and do yoga. Can I start jogging again?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Yes you will be able to do everything provided we have seen what injuries you have sustained and treated them adequately. I am sure that you have got required x rays done and ruled out a bony injury. We also have to manage soft tissue injuries carefully as they require utmost care. So continue with rest, physical therapy, anti inflammatory medication as per pain and let me know in 2-3 weeks time otherwise we might have to investigate you to look for what injuries have you sustained? do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.
